WOW! Great Job! 5 miles that is terrific..I've only been doing the treadmill for 1.5...but it takes me 30 minutes to do that. I don't think I will ever enjoy exercising! -

Thanks...getting on LAPBANDTALK really helps me keep my eye on the goal! I appreciate the support! I, too, am obsessive over the scales with weighing in every morning...Just a habit hard to break. But I will say I got on this evening and it was what motivated me not to skip cardio tonight. Last night my body was so tired that I said I was going to give it a break from the cardio but still do upper body training...but decided to go ahead and do cardio...Hope it pays off! Looking forward to seeing great numbers from you! I know you can do it! -
Need Help and Direction
MississippiGirl replied to MollyAnne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you need to jumpstart your metabolism. Try walking at least 20 minutes a day. You throw in a little change to your body to awaken it! Research metabolism and see what you find out...and I would .5 removed so you could do some chewing! -
I am failing miserably
MississippiGirl replied to RedGurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me, My 4 year old son, and my husband all workout an hour after supper which is around 7:30. We do the Biggest Loser DVD together. My son goes to bed at 8 and I continue cardio on the treadmill or do some extra from the video on my own. Make it a family thing with your children. The way I see it I'm sparking something in his mind that exercise is important in being a healthy person! That's my tip! Oh..and if you do drink carbonated make it diet and leave it sitting for 45 minutes or so...that's what my doc said! -
Throwing up all the time
MississippiGirl replied to michellemo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A lady that uses my doctor was banded around the same time I was (15 months) ago. Her body rejected her band by the scar tissue growing around the band or something like that. This was only the second one that my doctor has ever had to take out. She was very ill to the point of throwing up Bial (sp?) This is an emergency situation. She went to the ER and the general surgeon removed it...but he also does bariatric surgery as well as general. This is Serious...get it checked out! -
Easter Challenge Anyone?
MississippiGirl replied to mrsgriffin2u's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well it's Monday and thought I would post my update. Don't really know what all I'm suppose to put. I'm down 3.6 pounds this week. I've got 27.4 lbs to go in this challenge! I've done really good with my caloric intake and have exercised for at least 30 minutes a day! I'm happy with this progress although I'm still one pound away from my PRE-Christmas weight...oh well I enjoyed it! -

How many fills have you gotten since you were banded. What was the highest cc you got? Did you maintain it by going back to the doctor when you felt no restriction? -
Fluid loss,, now too much ?
MississippiGirl replied to Whillow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You probably did lose some after that first fill. I always ask the doc to see what's in me before I decide how much fill I want him to give. For example if I got a fill of 5.0 previously and I was tight then and hadn't lost much weight and only have 4.8 then I only go up to abou 5.2. But if I've lost over 10lbs then I go up about .5 cc because as you lose weight you will need more of a fill. I guess i'm just cautious because I've been overfilled and that was miserable. -
Please help me...I'm at the end of my rope here
MississippiGirl replied to tallymia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One thing I've learned in the past 15 months I've been banded is that it this is a LIFESTYLE CHANGE. I've not been perfect since being banded. I've fallen off the wagon and had to crawl back on several times. Right now I've only been back on it the last couple of weeks. You can do this....but just realize when you mess up your next meal is a new start. You have to maintain your restriction in your band. The problem I was having was my doc was scheduling a fill every 3 months. Well I would lose about 17 lbs about 1/2 way through the 3 months but had less restriction and would gain half back. I now go every 6 weeks. I know it can be costly. My fills are $100.00. So even if I get .3 more added it is worth not gaining that one pound back! You can do this! Just don't beat yourself up over it...and You HAVE to have a support system...come here often! It can keep you motivated and your eye on the ball! -
Is this normal?
MississippiGirl replied to Bobbie0918's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is very difficult for me to get solids down in the A.M. I usually am running late and don't have time to fix a meal so I drink those small activia yogurt drinks in the morning. Sometimes it takes me over an hour to get it down. -
Fluid loss,, now too much ?
MississippiGirl replied to Whillow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well you have to keep in mind that although you had 4.5 in your band previously...when you had no restriction you only had 2 in your band...so putting 4 in is doubling what you were used to. I've only been too tight one time and it was to the point I couldn't get sips of water down without even hiccuping. I waited 4 days before I went back to the doctor out of fear of dehydrating. It was awful. If you can get some nutrition down without any problem I would give it a couple of weeks. I'm sure it will loosen up and it will be a great jumpstart and motivator for you! How long did it take to go from 4.5 to 2? That is alot of fluid loss unless maybe it had been 3 or 4 months since your last fill? -
Easter Challenge Anyone?
MississippiGirl replied to mrsgriffin2u's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay I've gotten through Day 1 of this 2 day weekend haha! Doing good...ate good today and worked out.. Do any of you eat the "skinny cow" ice cream products? Those things are awesome! Ice cream is my weakness...another good low cal icre cream fix is pudding shakes...you use your favorite instant pudding mix (mine is cheesecake) use 2 tablespoons of the dry mix in your blender with a cup of milk (preferably skim) with ice and make a smoothie..the only cals you got is what is in the milk...it is delicious. You can also add some fresh fruit to it! -
I have no warning...but as everyone else said you usually know when you shouldn't take another bite...and it is so hard not to do it! What is worse and I've only done it a couple of times is when it gets so bad I'm trying to get the slime up I end up vomiting...then my stomach is irritated and mostly have to do liquids for a day or two! So try not to push it!

MississippiGirl replied to mrsgriffin2u's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WooHoo...one down already! Way to go Girl! My challenge is ALWAYS the weekend...I tend to be bored and eat! Anyone got any ideas on how to deal with this issue of mine? -
Maybe this was a mistake!!
MississippiGirl replied to lkarelee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A friend of mine was banded over a year ago and didn't get real restriction until her 7th fill....And trust me you don't want to be too tight cause then they will take it all out and make you wait a month before they give you anything back and then you really will gain weight... Don't beat yourself up..You didn't gain it all at one time and we all know it isn't gonna fall off all at one time... You can do this!! -

Easter Challenge Anyone?
MississippiGirl replied to mrsgriffin2u's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are still up for the challenge I'll join you...I've been away from this website for awhile now and have just committed to getting "back on track" as of today. I went and got an adjustment and really want to get rid of this weight. At the doctor's office today I weighed 274...I had lost down to 268...so hopefully won't take me too long to get back to there adn would like to be around 238 around Easter.. Let me know how a "challenge" works...I'm in! -
Hi fellow banders: I have been exercising for the last 9 days and have gained 4 pounds. At first I started out and could only do 20 minutes of cardio...by the third day I pushed it up to 40 minutes with the last 3 days at 45 minutes. I'm eating healthy; following the rules! I was banded in Oct. 08. I have lost 41 pounds and this is my first time really exercising since surgery. Can anyone share their trials of just starting out exercising and did this happen to you? How long did you exercise and what types of things did you do? Do you think it is ok to do cardio everyday? In desperate need of motivation!!
