Good morning ladies! Cut my walk down to 2 miles this morning so I could get home early enough to make gazpacho for munch today - YUM!! Now I have to go sneak out during a staff meeting and get in another 2 miles, LOL Tamra, I tell anyone and everyone who will listen. I am a walking billboard for the lap-band! I am also an assertive person and no one f's with me, if you know what I mean! I have gotten very little in the way of unsupportive opinions, if I hear it I just say "yeah yeah, blah blah blah," pout my hand up and walk away. Really, I am that rude about it! We practiced that in my 14-week class :-) I figure that if they can be rude to me, they can handle my being rude back. Honestly, though, at least 95% of people have been TOTALLY supportive! They often ask "oh, you can have that removed after you lose weight, right?" and my response is "yes that's right I can - but they will have to pry it out of my cold, dead body, because I love this thing!" Feeling restriction again this morning - getting close to a week out from the last fill, which is when I started feeling it last time. VERY happy about that!! :-) Sneaking out for my walk now - TTFN

I want to drink water but it's only been an hour and I want to hold off as long as I can. I can tell my pouch is still full . . but my bigger (lower) tummy is HUNGRY! Maybe if I drink it will wash it into the lower tummy and make me not hungry anymore??

OK so the nice man that has the cafateria here @ the county has been telling me since last weeki about this "greek-style salad" he is going to make today, he's been so excited about it so I HAD to go see him at lunch and get one! It was chicken breast, cucumbers, red onions, tomatoes, black olives, green onions, celery, and some kind of goat-milk yogurt & dill dressing . . . no lettuce, lots of cukes. I thought I could get the chicken & the dressing on the side, but when I got there it's all pre-mixed. . . great, oh well he's SUCH a nice guy (yes, I read the chapter on eating to please other people), so I took it & put 1/2 of it in another contained and ate the 1/2 that was left (probably 2/3 cup) and OMG! It did not slider, even with the dressing! It is suitting ABOVE my band, I don't like it but I sure did stop! Maybe my restriction will come back after all! :-)

YAY Pam, you broke 70!! COngrats! So glad the fill is working for you :-) No a half an egg is not nearly enough to survive on! Not even a whole egg is enough . . .I can still eat a horse . . . but I do seem to be losing so I guess it's working . . . .

Good morning all! Tina so glad that fill is working for you now! Thank God he didn't give you more than .5 cc! I wish I felt the same, ate my eggs and cheese for breakfast at 8:30 and was so STARVING by 10:30, I ate my lunch that early!! Now how the heck am I supposed to make it until dinner??? But I had gotten in my 10 miles by 10 o'clock (it's my 9/80 day off) so that was a little over 1,000 cals burned and maybe that really fueled my hunger. Who knows? I just know that I do not feel tight at all, no PBing or even feeling like I'm close, and I have not lost anything else. I'm waiting to get a week out - it took almost that long last time, but this time it feels like I had restriction and now I don't. This is hard work!!! Pam yay, so glad that your fill is working for you, too! About time huh? Your pic looks great girl! Hey Tina you mentioned on Thursday that you had started a list of the highest-protein meat analogs? Would you mind posting it! I tried eating meat again, but can't get any farther than turkey bacon LOL and I need dense protein to stay above my band. How do you guys handle the not drinking water for at least an hour after eating when it is this darned HOT out? Dying here . . . . weather report on TV this morning said 11 degrees HOTTER today than yesterday, I thought it was supposed to cool off! Oh well it could be worse, I could live in the Sacto Valley like you girls . . . . Got to get going, my hairdresser can get me in for color today if I work around his schedule - and I need it bad, the "skunk stripe" is getting wider!! TTFN keep up the great work everyone:rolleyes:

PB stands for "Productive Burping" LOL forgot that part! I guess it happens if you eat too much too but I haven't had that.

    Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

Oh PB ing is this lovely (NOT) thing that happens when something is "stuck" in your band . . . your esophuagus (sp!) spasms and it comes back! It is not actually vomiting, but everything you tried to put down after the thing that stuck comes up too . . along with a TON of saliva that's like foamy . . . you want to avoid it, but I think most of us expericne it at least once! Christine hasn't but I don't know if anyone else hasn't . . . it does not happen until you've had a fill or 2 fills

Ugh . . .full, full, full! I want a nap if it wasn't sp hot . . . . I waited 4 hours, now at 3:20 or so I just had: 4 tbs. Tribe hummus (100 cals) with 1/2 red bell pepper, cut into strips 1 cup baby greens (salad) with a chopped green onion and 1 boiled egg (70 cals) (ate most of the egg first), and 1 slice reduced-fat swiss (70 cals) sugar-free, carb-free (Walden Farms) Thousand Island Dressing about a 250 calorie lunch, but 15+ grams Protein and some fiber! OK no PBing or anything like that, and I am definately full. But that is a LOT of food! Of course the hummus is slider and the dressing makes all of the salad stuff slider-y . . . . and I am STUFFED I think I might try the nap after all, ugh I think it was too much!!!

Oh I am so proud of all my girls! We SO rock. The very best thing is Christine's attitude, you ROCK Christine I love it! During my fill Liz asked me to tell the biggest change since losing weight, the first thing that came to mind was that I'm totally out there now, don't give a crap just being myself and having a great time whatever the activity is (and picking up boys like crazy suddenly, BTW!) but I could not say the picking up boys part! So I said something like, having abundant energy in the evenings after work, LOL! That seemed to make them happy . . . Nicole your thirst worries me, I have excess thirst every 2 days and that is normal given the weather & my exercise level, but if yours is like you crave Water ALL the time and it keeps up I want you to test your blood sugar, you are young enough to still come down with Type 1 (Type 2 would be REALLY unlikely at this point) and excessive thirst is the #1 indicator, thats how I knew my son had diabetes. But probably since you have cut out carbs it is because you are in ketosis, which is GREAT as long as you do not have diabetes! Means your body is in fat-burn mode and you should no longer get hungry or crave carbs. You get rid of the by-products of burning fat (the ketones) through urine so your body NEEDS a tone of water and will crave it. Bad taste in the mouth goes along with it :-) OK so far: 8 am, decaf americano 8:30 - 10:30 6 mile walk w/support group 10:30 - 11:00 breakfast- unsweetened soy milk (sugar free raspberry, decaf) latte, followed after 10 mins. by 1 cup strawberry halves (reduces to 1/2 cup) and 1/2 cup blueberries (could not finish - that's a first!) It's 1:25 right now and I am not hungry for lunch yet! Yay. I sure did feel tight on those first few berry halves, each one was like 10 tiny bites till it felt like I could eat. No PBing! I am going to try and stretch meal times out so that I have only 3 (plus my decaf soy latte because I CAN'T eat early AM right now) and nothing after 7 pm. SO like 10:30 Breakfast, 2 o'clock lunch, 6 o'clock dinner and eat enough "dense" Protein at dinner to hold me over past bedtime. I am going to try smoked turkey (yes, meat) breast tonight because I was losing a lot better until I stopped eating meat again a month or so ago, we shall see . . I hope that is not the difference, but ???

Tina you poor thing! Stay on softs or even liquids until you drop another 5 . . . crackers make me PB too, but also I am WAY too tight - and ALWAYS PB - if i try to eat while I am upset! I learned that quick . . . and it sure got rid of eating to quelch ONE emotion at least. Yea I could hardly eat salad at first, but I at the rest of it about 3 . . . . then I came home and had: 2 boca burger patties w/sugar-free carb-free BBQ sauce 1 hard-boiled egg 1/2 cup lentils (didn't finish those) this was between 5:30 and 6, it took me that long to eat it! That is a LOT of food, but my objective was to avoid dinner B and that part worked, I was full when I sent to bed. I am always tight in the AM and have a hard time eating anything - hence my decaf sol slender lattes, or fruit. Even egg beaters is hard in the AM unless I wait until 11ish. It gets easier to eat as the day wears on, witness what all I at for dinner just 1 day after my 3rd fill! It was all slider food though, except the egg and not so much the lentils. I was going for filling both tummies I guess, I just do NOT feel satisfied when only the pouch tummy is full!! Have a great meeting today girls, mine is an activity group this morning so I'm strapping on my hiking boots. Excercise:(yesterday) walked 8.45 miles

I want another pound tomorrow!!!! I am going to go home and take a walk - hip is healing slowly, only let me get in 2 miles this morning b4 work but I have done a bunch of little walks all day and I am up to 8 miles, almost back to where I am supposed to be at!! It feels SO good to be excercising again, between seeing all you girls yesterday, seeing the scale fall this morning, and geeting myself moving again, my blues have lifted!

Well at least your port is not hurting this time! Mine is just a little red so far . . . he had to poke around quite a bit, so I'm suprised there's no brusing yet . . . it didn't hurt though, none of them have hurt. On the 1st and 3rd fills the lidocaine stung a bit, but on the 2nd one I didn't even feel that! I want SO bad to go join my friends camping (read, drinking and eating crap) tonight, I even have the tent etc. still in my car . . . but then I think, that will set me back over 200 lbs. again, is it worth it? I now have an official goal with my "Thrive" team of 185 by August 30th, the Santa Rosa Marathon (which is along the trails that I walk every day, so beautiful - I am SO blessed to live here!) So that is 14 lbs. in 9 weeks for me (all 4 of us in this particular challenge are 198 or 199 right now), all 3 of the others are RNY so this is how I try to keep up with them! I am HIGHLY competative, see now I won;'t go join one set of friends because I am intent on BEATING another set of friends!! 14 lbs in 9 weeks is what, 1.55 lbs. a week average - I can DO this!!

I support you man! Even though I did just go eat the rest of that salad - read, MOST of it. No problem. Full now, but . . alas, I got only 3 hours out of it. It's not even time for my 4 o'clock "dinner A" yet!! But maybe its cause I am not eating very dense stuff so soon after the fill-o. And then maybe it's my head hunger, stupid ugly growly thing!!!
  21. riley4183

    Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

Tina, yeah no kidding - thanks Dad! I think it is 1/4 to 1/2 cup of protein, followed by 1/2 cup of raw veggies (or 1/4 cup cooked, which I never do) or 1/4 cup of fruit. 3 days ago I could wolf down 2 boiled eggs on 3 cups of raw spinach, no problemo! But right now I could probably do 1 egg and 6-8 leaves of the spinach - so 1/4 cup protein and 1/4 cup raw vegie. I have not PBed yet since my fill. I think this is what restriction feels like!!!!!!! 3rd fill's the charm!!! Now let's see if the scale keeps agreeing :-)

The cheese was the protein on my salad, not WW but that nice, fat shaved parmesan curls - YUM not sticky at all, it did not come up but I sure felt it! I waited QUITE a while between every bite. And the few lettuce pieces I dipped in this almost-pure-olive-oil dressing, so they were nice and slippery. Then I had that really deep burp that apparently IS my done signal - it starts in my knees, I swear, and does this slow, LOUD rumble up slowly into my chest -OH it feels good, I see where the guys get it from now! Then I know it's time to stop :-) So I did, and I was fine - for 2 hours. OK girls, I need advice: My eating times (I get up at 5) are 6 (soy slender latte); 9 (breakfast), 12 (lunch) 4 ("dinner a") and 7 ("dinner b"). Bed at about 9:30 or 10; if I go to bed earlier I will wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to go back to sleep. The 4 o'clock "dinner a" is my problem; I can (and have) cut the 6 am latte out. right now I do it for the protein. But I am STARVING - my brain is starving too, I can't think and my mind is frozen - at 4 o'clock. I tried just having like vege broth at 4 to fool my brain into thinking that I had had something to eat, but robin said no not to even do that because it's feeding the snacking mentality and just making it harder for me to get out of it. But I AM HUNGRY!!!! Ideas?

  25. riley4183

The problem is that was 2 hours ago, and I could eat again right now! Not starving, but I know I could eat some more . . . . damn head hunger, I gess the fill doesn't fix that. I'm glad the fridge is too far away to just jump up and get the rest of my salad out of it . . I am going to need to do something else for protein though, or I will not be gdetting enough . . . all I have here is soy protein powder with nothing to mix it with! Oh I know, I will make crystal light and mix it with that! Kinda creamsicle
