  1. I was only out 1 week so could not use STD, just used sick leave. My friends who are having/have had RNY used vacation & STD, it does not start until after a week . . one friend was getting 80% of what she usually got in a check, but i think she has something supplemental at work. You've been paying for STD for years, I say go ahead and use it! Good luck to you :-)

Oh Nicole, watermelon sounds SO GOOD!!!!! Yum I could eat 2 cups of it, and I do - freaks Robin out, but when you think about it watermelon is mostly Water, 2 cups compresses down to like 1/2 a cup . . . .of course I could also eat 2 cups of strwaberries before the last fill, not so much now . . . OMG I want watermelon! Too tired to walk another freakin' mile to the store tho

Tina yes you will balance out! You may have even tricked your body back out of "starvation" so your metabolism picks up again too, wouldn't THAT be sweet?!?! Why do I even TRY to eat meat? Should have stuck to the cucumbers . . . . my son brought me home some rosemary so I boiled some old freezer-burned chicken breast with the rosemary, it smells fab and he likes it, so I pulled out like a tenderloin and tried - TRIED to eat it, I have tried 3 times and PBed 3 times, I am just not supposed to eat meat! Maybe fish I am still trying to eat fish, it is a good dense protein good for a band but I just don't really want it. And I don't want to smell it! Give me lentils and a gardenburger, at least those stay down where I put them, in my pouch! Hey at least I don't have to log any chicken tonight, LOL! The boys can chow it down.

You know Tina I thought my band was being inconsistent, lots of restriction most days but then none for a day or so, then restriction again? I figured out that I have LESS restriction when I am dehydrated! Once I start to drink 64+ again, I get restriction back. Isn't that weird?? I REALLY blew it today, I was at work and had just bought a bottle of dry rosated subflower seeds, I opened it and thought to myself "OK I have a 1 oz. container in the kitchen, I will measure out my 1 oz. and hide this in Karin's cubicle," then I started typing a staff report and when I looked up, I had eaten half the damned bottle! OMG so I had to go log it, it was like 40 grams of fat and 658 calories!!!!! I put myself on cucumbers the rest of the day and vowed to excercise 600 more calories off . . . so I have done over 15 miles today, believe me girls, mindlessly eating those stupid little seeds was SO not worth it! I don't even hardly remember eating them!!! Sunflower seeds cleqrly a no-no food for me. Like cheez-its, LOL! WHEN am I going to learn??

OMG Donna that was you trying to call me today!!! Oh I am so sorry! Mybphone was breaking up so bad, and had been expecting a call regarding my friend Renee's RNY surgery today, she had an AM surgery time and I was franticly worried about her I saw a strange number come up I thought it was her suster finally calling, and then all I could really make out was "lap band" so I thought they could not do Renee's RNY so she got a lap band! OMG it was not her, it was you! And she called about 6:30 and Renee got RNY and is doing well. Whew! I am so sorry Donna, this was our snoopy day!!! How was your fill??? Hi Tanifare welcome!!

Good morning all - holy moley, 6 pages!!! Amazing. Heather I am so proud of you!! Keep it up girls!! I was bad bad bad this weekend, so not logging it!!! Partied with my older son all weekend, he totally hung with all my NASCAR buddies which was weird, they are all like marines etc. and he is sorta goth . . . but they all got along great! There are about 5 families with grown kids who party with us, in their 20s or so . . and they hang with their parents because we are so much fun!! It was a blast, we even camped over after fireworks. But I was AWFUL!!! I mean, all that work to avoid carbs, and I'm like drinking huge glasses of orange juice?? Eating chips??? Where was my mind?? I prepared - took along sliced cucumbers, Tribe hummus, etc. but it went uneaten, cause I was having what everyone else was having! Did not PB the whole time, thank goodness. And I was up walking at 5 again this morning so oh well! I got 11 miles in Saturday and will get in my 10 today and all week. Thankfully I am not weighing again until this Friday, LOL! Have a great Monday all! Riley
  8. My surgeon told me on my first visit that I could expect to have redundant skin, that I might want to consider plastic surgery, and that it is not a covered benefit (Kaiser). I started putting extra $ aside each check before surgery, assuming that after 3 c-sections and 130 lb. weight loss, I would need some work! I am actually suprised that I don't have as much skin as I thought I would.

Nicole leave that baby in her crib! She will let you know when she's ready for a bed. All 3 of mine stayed in their cribs until they were just climbing out by themselves. The youngest one (he's 17 now) would climb out and sleep on the floor like a frog, no matter what I did . . . moved him to a bed and he still crawled out and slept on the floor . . . until he was like 14!! Not right next to his bed, either . . . I would find him like behind the couch in the living room or whatever . . .weird, weird kid but he was my 3rd so I didn't sweat it

Nicole you are so right, you did tell me I would fit in 12s! In fact, when I picked them out to try them on, I grabbed a pair of 14s AND a pair of 12, 'cause I remember you saying that and I thought well I might as well try! Never even put on the 14s. And they had no "large" in a couple of shirts I wanted, so I was forced to try "medium"s - and they fit!! Yay, yay. I have shrunk a whole size in, like, a week . . . how is that POSSIBLE??? OMG girls I have lost almost 90 lbs!!!!! I love my band

This band is amazing, it is still getting tighter 7-8 days after my last fill! Yesterday I was trying to hold off until 4 to eat so I don't do 4 meals a day, and I realized as I drove out of the parking lot at 5 that I have completely forgotten to eat! I had 3 cubes of cheese that evening for dinner and that was enough . . . was not hungry and REAL tight this morning, ate 3 bites of egg and just didn't want any more - - still not hungry before lunch - ordered salmon and veggies at lunch, ate about 2-3 oz. of the salmon and I was DONE, for sure - would have PB'd if I ate more. Went shopping for 4 hours - SIZE 12 GLORIA V JEANS AND SIZE MEDIUM TOPS!! - and came back & ate the salmon, but was DONE again and never even got to the veggies! This is what happened when I was first on solids, I could only eat a little bit and I LOVE IT!! I am going to go get a salad with my older son in a bit, we will see how that goes. So not putting in too many calories today, but did not do my 10 miles today either - took the day off! I think I found the sweet spot girls!!!

Ywaza Candra, that sucks! I guess you could call the sleep center dept. - you have to be referred, but you WERE referred - and leave a message & ask them if you can repeat the sleep study, or find the Epsworth online, fill it out and fax it to your PCP . . .I would not go through Dr. Fischer for it, because it could delay your surgery! I did not get diagnosed until a month before my surgery - 2 days after I got my surgery date! - and only had a CPAP for 2 weeks before surgery, I was scared to death they would cancel so I just didn't tell them! After I was prepped Dr. Baggs came in and I said oh by the way I have a CPAP now, he said yeah fine you can use it when you get home. That was it, thank God . .. . but I can TOTALLY tell the difference when I use it and when I don't! Maybe someone on this Board has lost enough weight that they don't use it anymore and can let you borrow it? Nicole, I WISH I was close to your weight! Skinny little balsey food girl, LOL!!
  13. riley4183

    Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

Candra, 5.5 isn't high enough to get a CPAP unless you are also symptomatic - which you are. If it was the take-home test, and you have symptoms like tired and headaches - which I KNOW you do - then they should do it again, or refer you to a sleep center. They want you to be on a CPAP for 2 months before surgery tho, if you need one - 5.5 is actually close to normal, but waking up 12 times is not! When I did my into class here @ Santa Rosa Kaiser, we had to all take the screening test. Epworth Sleepiness Scale I think it's called. Write on there that you fall asleep in the AM, have headaches, are sleepy and snore!

I went for a walk at lunch today, and ate gazpacho but that's more like a beverage . . trying to wait as long as I can to eat, but starting to get real hungry! I am going to have some soy milk with soy protein powder and SF raspberry sauce, and see if that hold me until 4 . . . .
  15. riley4183

Candra I used to wake up tired! Are you on a CPAP?
  16. riley4183

    Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

Pam, absolutely it tightens with stress! I have learned in no uncertain terms that I CANNOT eat when I am stressed or I will PB. A blessing in disguise I think . . . I hear you on the furlough, my memo will come anytime now . . .we already have been told we have to take 2 mandatory weeks off without pay at Christmas - which isn't so bad, as they spread the financial impact out over the whole year - but I should get the additional 10% reduction memo any day - and I am already upset just thinking about it! Last paycheck the new $800 addiktional for family health insurance started coming out of our checks, now this . . . already I came close to PBing twice at work this morning - once on a scrambled egg, for Pete's sake!

How I get in 10 miles a day Yes, it takes hours, and who has hours? Here is how I do it: I get up at 5 (I am a morning person) and I walk or walk/jog 4 miles before I get ready to go to work. This takes me 1 hour (it used to take me 1 hour 40 minutes!) I have to be at work by 7:30, which is why I have to get up so early. I am absolutely addicted to my morning walk! I do it early on weekends, too. It is my time for me, it is how I wake up and start my day, and I just hate it when people try to talk to me while I'm out walking at 5:30 am! Honestly, that is how I started jogging . . too many morning walkers trying to walk and talk with me, so I would start jogging away! I'm such a bitch about it. Sheez Riley . . . So I get to work at 7:30, by 8 o'clock I am on my first walk. I am not kidding! The County campus is huge, and when I started this while process in November I started going around the cubicles in all of the divisions to ask folks if they had things to be hand-delivered - to the Board of Supes, to County Counsel (2 offices), to Dept. of Public Works, etc. Some of the divisions have now set up baskets for stuff to be delivered, knowing that I will come by 3 times a day and pick it up - they just put a sticky on it with where it goes. I will also take their personal mail down to the mailbox, as long as it's got a stamp on it. I thought at first that my bosses would frown on this practice - I get paid WAY too much to be playing courier to clerical staff - but instead, just the opposite has been true: I am seen as a total team player, appreciative of support staff, and always willing to help out. I have made new friends all over the county campus, which has really helped out doing my job because I have to coordinate across departments. It is one of the best things I have ever done, professionally speaking. Go figure! The County is paying me to excercise! I get just under 4 miles in per day doing that alone. It does not work on most Tuesdays because I am in Board of Supes all day, but they take LONG breaks and I pretty much walk whenever they break, hitting all of the baskets because these folks depend on my now! Evenings I enjoy a lovely walk along the creek, or a hike with a friend or friends (MUCH more social in the evenings!) or (like tonight) gym and water aerobics. I love summer because I CAN get out after work - and now that I have the energy, I do! I used to come home and go to sleep . . . If I am really desperate or it's dark and it is raining out or whatever I will get on my Gazelle but I have to be pretty desperate for that! And I have to remove all of the clothes hanging off of it, LOL. That's how I get in my 10 miles a day. Lucky me I have a job that lets me do that! And an excercise addiction - but that's not really luck, that's a whole lot of prayer :tongue2:

Have a better day in court today Tina! You should get out earlier today anyways . . . I was down 4 since the fill, a couple of days ago, but I am back up 2 now so down 2 total. That's not bad for a week, but it IS bad for the week right after a fill! Oh well, I started feeling the restriction just a day and a half ago so if I can lose 2 a week for the next 3 weeks I will be thrilled. OK NSV to report girls! I have, through my clothing exchange, 2 pairs of Gloria Vanderbilts, a size 16 denim crop and a size 14 khaki denim straight leg. The size 14s are my "motivation" jeans because I look at the back of them and say oh my god these are SO tiny, when my ass fits in those I will be SO happy! So I have the 16 crops out this morning - 16s are too big in other brands, but you know how small the GVs run - and I pull on the 16 crops, and - too big! OK I thought, I must be bewteen sizes . . . just for kicks I'm going to pull on the motivational size 14 tiny-ass jeans to see how far I can pull them up - was suprised to get them all of the way up my thighs! Then all the way - and they zipped right up! SO thrilled! So went to the closet for the smallest hawiian shirt I could find (traditional friday office wear here, and since tomorrow is a holiday today is friday LOL), and I'm swimming in it!!! I actually like my ass in these jeans - and it has been a LONG TIME since I've said that!! Now THIS is motivating!! Did my 4 miles before work, on 4.8 now so I gotta get out there and deliver some stuff around the county complex.

Hey Tina I forgot to tell you thanks for the meat analog info, very interesting that is a lot of work! Have you had this stuff that Robin recommends that comes in a can!?! It sounds great unless it's seitan, I can't have that because of my wheat sensitivity . . I eat mostly gardenburger classics and LOVE the morningstar sausage patties, I crumble one up in my lentils YUM and OMG those Quorn chicken patties are to DIE FOR OMG OMG but the fat in them is like 12 thousand or something!! I really loved the ribs but they quit making them, so I use gardenburgers and but Walden Farms SF hickory BBQ sause on them, YUM Oh darn it noe I am making myself hungry again! I am going back to my book. Anyways Tina THANK YOU

Well I am having horrid head hunger this evening probably from my monthly visitor but maybe from "too much" exercise, I already had 3 meals + a big snack today, tried to tell myself I COULD NOT eat after 6 but alas, I wanted something SO BAD I ended up eating 1/4 cup of cooked edamame with yogurt butter, honestly I think it was just an excuse to eat the butter! But I do feel satisfied, all I had for dinner was gazpacho and a piece of fat-free cheese, I think I really needed that fat!! So I am up to like 1350 cals today, my bad. Oh and I found my son's stash of diabetic candy & took a few pieces to hoard for myself - he has had this since easter so obviously he has more willpower than I do! He ate all the good stuff tho, just SF strawberry creme lifesavers left. Darned kids :-)

No Facebook for me! I guess I need to buy a digital camera and start getting out there more online . . . . I'm just so OLD for all that stuff! Maybe I could sell some stuff on EBay though . . like my teenagers, LOL Tina I'm so sorry that your day sucked so bad! And another day of waiting tomorrow?!?! Eeewwww! I'm lucky I only have to sit in with my Board on Tuesdays . . no daily court for me, thank God. And the Supervisor that used to override me all the time finally retired, work is SO much easier now! Christine I think you ARE a little kid again! If I look at what you were posting 5 months ago vs. now, the change is phenomenal!! And wonderful! I'm "flipping" over your energy girl!! Just finished my 10+ miles for the day, don't be hatin' but I had to wear a windbreaker, the fog is rolling in here  so nice and cool, breezy! I love it here Been eating about 1100 a day, but pedometer says I am walking off 1,000 a day so I SHOULD be losing . . . my visitor showed up though, and I have not been able to "do my bizness" for 2 days . . . just took some MOM in the hopes that I finally will tomorrow morning - things are mighty uncomfortable right now! I want to eat so I/ going to read. . . I have restriction when I am eating, but nothing stays with me long . . maybe that is yet to come. Nicole - what's the word?

Morning Donna woman!! Candra LOL, my attitude wears thin in a very short amount of time around here . . . . but Tina's co-worker is totally right, I feel so good that I don't give a crap what people say! There are like 4 of us here in my (big) department that are in the Kaiser bariatric surgery group, I am the only bandster but no one is making it a secret. Office mates see us excercising all the darned time, every single day, so it's clear that we are healthier and happier!! Who cares what they say? That's just me tho . . . most folks are not as "out there" as I am with what they have done to themselves.
