OK, for all you girls (oh good morning BTW) who hate excercise and think I'm a sicko - YOU ARE RIGHT!! Just as I thought, after doing the 17 miles yesterday - burning off 1,777 cals and taking in 1,013 cals - my scale is UP a pound-and-a-half!!! My body just freaks out with that kind of a deficit and starts hanging on the everything that it can - water and otherwise. So my plan today is to drink a gallon of the diet cranberry juice, and eat salad, fruit and other high-water-content foods - soy protein powder and soy milk, all plant-based today and I am hoping that will help me with my elimination issues! Should never have gotten on the scale this morning, this happens every time I overdo it with exercise. I log my weight Friday mornings, so I should have just waited the other day! Scared I will be up though, and I don't want to have to record another gain . . . Seems like I have not had restriction the last couple days, but I have not been hungry either so maybe that's where I'm supposed to be. I am trying to get down enough that Dr. Baggs will let me come in to the next Pinole group fill - what day is that again? 23rd? - instead of waiting until August. "Enough" is probably 10 lbs., and I don't think I'll make that but I sure can try!! Have a great morning everyone!!

Oh my goodness, I haven't seen this much btyping since high school typing class, LOL!Q 1,777 calories today - out, not in. We just got back from Spring Lake, ended up doing 6.5 mile hike instead of the 4 I was counting on, so now I have way too much exercise today - 17.5 miles, jeepers thats just too much, my butt is sore from the hills! feels kind of good tho, LOL . . . but this much will def. put my body into starvation mode, so I am going to just do a smaller version of my morning walk tomorrow - maybe 2-3 miles instead of 4 - and skip my lunch walk, then do weights & swimming tomorrow evening with the girls. I need to give my bod a break! Edamame with yogurt butter sounds real good right now but I am way too tired to get up & go downstairs and find a clean pan and make it! Just want to sit her with my Crysal Light, watch TV and read till I fall alseep . . OMG all I do is excercise and work now, my house is SUCH a pigsty! I have not even done laundry for amost 2 weeks:tt2: ya don't want to try to walk in here! K gonna retire, Tina sounds like you had a good "green zone" day! I was more green than red today too, LOL Yay to all of us, we are rockstars!!

Of course I am not mad at you!! Silly girl! If I didn't want your feedback and ideas I never would have posted it here! Goodness gracias :-) 6-15 miles a day of walking for a regular person isn't right though - I got a figure of 4 miles from my Kaiser class . . . a little over 5 is 10,000 steps, which is what they have a whole program built around! In any case, when I started this journey I set my daily steps goal at 6,000 . . that is less than 3 miles! So I was NOT walking very much at all. I agree I should be losing more! I have a 1,000 calorie per day deficit, even on a "bad" day, which should lead to 1 lb. of loss every 3 days. Hey wait - that IS what I'm losing!! Maybe it just feels slower than it is . . . Anyways, no never mad. I promise! That cold is killer; I had it and the cough that follows it lasts for almost 2 weeks. Take your zikcam, zucol, whatever else to shorten the duration, drink the liquids you don't want (try diet jello, popsicles and - my favorite - hot & sour soup) and GET BETTER!

Nicole I jog-walk 4 miles every morning before work - 12 to 15 minute miles - my heart rate is up the whole time. A walk a lot at work yes, but I also do a 1.5 mile walk up a steep hill at 10 am and another (flatter) 2-mile walk at lunch. Tonight at 6:30 I am meeting a friend for a 4-mile hike around Sprink Lake, that has BIG hills and definately gets my heart rate up! So yes, at least 6-8 miles a day are pursposeful, active jogging, hiking or power walking. My pedometer tracks aerobic steps separately that overall steps, like right now I have 113 aerobic minutes, I will end the day at about 200 aerobic minutes of excercise. It's an Omron; I love it! :-)

Oh I am losing Nicole! Just cracks me up that I am supposed to be eating "significanly less" than 1200 cals a day according to Robin - which is about what I am burning off! It's working tho - I am just much hungrier when I excercise so much!!

Food is fun, work is not (!) Maybe I'm not in the green zone yet, LOL! Lunch: Gardenburger (110); 1/2 cup cucumber slices (8); 1 oz. dry roasted sunflower seeds (120) Snack (yes, already!!) 10 smoked almonds (115) My calorie counter says 651 cals today so far, my pedometer says I have burned off 1,022 (almost 10 miles) I should be losing a flippin' pound a day!!!

Candra sorry but margaritas and a fat-ass plate of nachos sounds HELLA good right about now!!! We can avoid the carbs in the margaritas this way Baja Bob's :: Sugar Free Margarita, Low Carb Drinks & Mixes and make Hungry Girl - Tuesday Newsletter nachos with reduced-fat cheese and fat-free beans! trying to figure out what to do about the chips still . . .I handle it by putting a blob on a plate, and using a single chip over & over to eat the blob until it gets too limp to scoop with! But there are also some FAB chips @ trader joe's that are hemp and flaxseed - SO yummy!

LOL, this comes from a website put together to fight an asphalt plant project here - the asphalt plant lost - it was going to expand right next to this park! This would be a GREAT walk, we could get in up yo 8 miles! That's more than a 10K ladies! Let's PLAN IT!! PETALUMA WETLANDS At the end of July, the new Ellis Creek trail will be opened to the public, adding over two miles to an existing trail system in the Petaluma wetlands that includes strolls through Alman Marsh, and around Shollenberger Park. One will be able to walk almost eight miles (roundtrip) starting at the Sheraton Hotel located at the Petaluma Marina. This will only enhance what many (Greenbelt Alliance, S.F. Chronicle, etc.) have already described as a top destination for nature lovers. The 500-acre contiguous wetlands, left unspoiled, have much to offer - 200 species of birds, 25 species of mammals, reptiles and amphibians, over 100 types of plants, with trails that meander through or are adjacent to a variety of habitats ranging from seasonal ponds, uplands, to salt marshes. At points in the trail one walks alongside the Petaluma River. The headquarters of the Point Reyes Bird Observatory (PRBO) is also located next to Shollenberger. PRBO is world famous for its research efforts and provides educational services to the public on-site. Additionally, the Petaluma Wetlands Alliance (PWA) conducts wetland tours. Its website features hundreds of wildlife photos, http://www.petalumawetlands.org/.

Reggie, Candra - am going to miss both you girls on friday :smile2: !! Reg no I'm not vegan - I eat eggs, and I WAS eating cheese products (no milk, lactose issues) but I have been SO stopped up - ifyaknowhatimean - that I cut that out a week or so ago . . . i am darned close to vegan! I am trying to eat fish as protein, I was ovo-lacto vegetarian when I started this journey and agreed with Robin to eat meat for 1 year, even though it would be canned chicken and fish only - cannot deal with carcass - and last time I had a sit-down food journal meeting with her, she said I was getting twice the protein that I needed and I could transition back to vegetarianism!! Yay, after only 6 months of eating meat! I have found, though, that it is HARD to get the "band-full" feeling without meat. Fish is especially good for me to get full on a little bit without BPing, so I am going to continue to eat fish for a while. I eat a LOT of soy, and since there is medical evidence that it MAY trigger some estrogen-related cancers - and I am adopted so don't know if it runs in my family or not - we are limiting my soy proteins to 25 grams a day. But most meat analogs are made with gluten and whey, both of which I have problems with, so it is TOUGH to get 60 grams of protein for me, and still limit my carbs! I manage - by eating a lot of eggbeaters!!! Anyway Fit for Life is so "old" that they did not even envision some of the meat analogs, sugar-free products and other things that are available today . . but I really do like the idea of fresh fruit every morning and othing after 6 pm - and of not eating carcass with carbs!! So I had 2 cups of fresh sliced stawberries for breakfast this morning, no PBing no nuthin! Yay. I lost back that 4 lbs of water (and the other, LOL) weight that I had temporarily gained, yay me - so am holding at 8 lbs. down since my fill. I expect I will lose all restriction again in about 5-6 more pounds and need another fill, but I will cross that bridge/email Dr. Baggs when I get there! 7.5 miles so far today ladies, but it is HOT out there already so won't be doing my afternoon walk . . will do a 1-miler at noon if I can find enough shade (which will mean walking around the big dark jail, which is totally creepy, LOL), but there's no way I'm getting my freckled irish skin out there in 90+ degrees mid-afternoon. Going to need to find a hiking buddy for after work today, maybe along the Russian River where it's REALLY cooler than inland Gott go appear to be workin' for the man, have a great day all!

Poor ducky! That is awful Nicole, we have a bird rescue place here that would take here but it's WAY too far from you . . . . thank you for rescuing her!! Anybody remember the "Fit for Life" diet, it was popular in like the 1980s? Fresh fruit only in the AM, never combine protein and carbs, and nothing after 6 pm? They recommended no flesh food, no dairy and no eggs either, so it's pretty much a vegan diet . . . I lost 80 lbs on it once, obviously gained it back!! But I think I am going to try fresh fruit only in the AMs and nothing after 6 again . . .don't eat carbs and almost never eat meat, so . . . . what do yall think? Anybody familiar with it?

OK well I did OK I guess . .should have stopped with the first drink. 3 oz. quacamole, 5 chips, 2 tbsps. salsa, 1 oz. chicken, 1/4 cup jicama, 4 cucumber slices - 350 cals 2 vodka tonics - very small! - 250 cals Mt calorie counter says 1,108 for the entire day, and I burned off 1,084 doing 10+ miles today, so I should be good! Fun party; ALL of the Board of Supervisors were there, plus some former ones. The co-workers I went with were blown away that they all know me by name . . well of course they do, I work for them! I have a great Board right now :-) 3 of them congratulated me on my weight loss - I was wearing a very form-fitting outfit, and I looked fab!! It was fun and I am really glad I went - and very glad that they had a bunch of veggies for me to nosh on! No beans was a bummer, but the guac was to DIE for :-)

Are you kidding me Nicole, I would take that sweet baby girl any old time! But you are kidding me . . .my 17 yo is 17, he is the worst EVER. My 21 year old son is GREAT now, we hang together all the time. My 25 yo is my daughter, she has always been a love bug but she is a little stoner and I just cannot abide that. She just got married, yay! OK I just "snacked" - I figured I had better eat before I head out for the party so I'm not famished: 1/4 cup (boiled) edamame (60 cals) Headed to the party! Hopefully I will be able to just nosh on beans . . wish me luck!!

Oh yeah Nicole, "hot as hell" sounds like uhmmm . . fun? I am doing Santa Rosa marathon (I'm doing the 1/2 marathon) on August 30th, I expect THAT to be hot as hell . . .and I am doing the Lake Tahoe Marathon 10K September 26-27. Today I am POOPED of walking! Also wearing something very small so took my pedometer off before my lunch walk . . but I had 5 miles in before that. Problem is I have to go to that Board of Supervisors aids party thing tonight, won't get my walk in after work unless I leave the party early . . which wouold probably be my best choise. B- - soy slender decaf latte; egg beaters with onion and a laughing cow light (200 cals) L- - gardenburger (120) with fat free amercian (35), 12 cucumber slices with 3/5 tbs. hummus (100) total 220 cals D- - whatever I can get at the party (and not PB)!!

Yes I do MUCH better at work than at home. Except for the mindless eating thing that I pulled yesterday . . and today a co-worker just brought in organic onions and carrots, I cut up the onion and added it to my egg beaters for breakfast time, but the carrot is sitting on my desk and I'm nibbling, and you KNOW how tight the band is in the morning, and eating a carrot when tight?? NOT SMART! But that's me lately. Ouch it hurts but I think I stopped in time, we shall see . . .;once I start the saliva thing, I't's gonna be time to run down the hallway to PB. So far so good. . . I need to just go get my soy slender latte and not try to eat for a while!!

I think I will set my goal by pant size, not by weight! Seriously, who set your goals for you gals? I just figured I would set mine at the highest BMI considered healthy . . never have discussed with Dr. Baggs, and my PCP is already happy about my weight. But I'M NOT!!! OMG my scale this morning said I have gained 4 lbs!! Can't do my bizziness to save my life . . even took MOM last night, to no avail . . . Robin is HIGH HIGH HIGH if she thinks that's no more than 1 lb.! I am holding Water and s&%t like crazy. Yep, ol' stubby head, that's me. Esp. right above my temples . . and it gets all curly!! My hairdresser has like 4 RNY patients and I am his only LBer. he says my hair is GREAT and I don't even know what hair loss is compared to them. Yay!

    Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

You can absolutely ask for Dr. Baggs! He's our Lapband King :-) I started losing hair (it comes out in the shower, no biggie) 2 weeks before surgery (I was losing 3 lbs a week). It stopped about 3 months out when I was no longer losing that much. Hair loss is like your dog shedding - hair falls out, but the dog's not ever bald! I do have a bunch of 1-inch long hair now that I can't straighten, LOL

O)h yay Donna, glad to hear it went well! I SO wish I couold go Friday! I miss that Reggie girl too :-) Tina, gosh darn it all, I am done even trying to eat! 3 PBs on the 3 chicken tries, I boiled some nice edamame and put Brummell & Brown yogurt butter on the and was IMMENSLEY enjoying the, thinking yes this is exactly what I needed, so much better than meat its a slider (from the yogurt butter) but I won't PB it, when I get stuck again and - - - nice green PB! Holy moley, I am drinking unsweetened almond milk and that's IT. I give up! The 658 sunflower seeds calories will sustain me I'm sure :-)
