You're right, Nicole! I KNEW I saw that somewhere! Maybe they switch off . . . . I know that I made the right choice, for me, for lap band, but I would be hard-pressed to choose between Parks and Baggs if I wanted to have RNY. I really liked her, she answered ALL of my questions when I was not even her patient, she was great! But for lap-band you have to keep going to your surgeon for a year or more afterwards. I think I have already seen Dr. Baggs more in the last 6 months than I have seen my PCP in the last 5 years! So you want someone you really feel like you can work with :-) IMHO of course.

Tani I have met with Dr. park too, and she is fab! Plus she is chief of surgery! or she was when I met her last year. I really, really liked her. Very patient, careful, accurate - all good things in a surgeon! I just felt like I "meshed" better with Dr. Baggs, seeing that I am sorta wacko (Candra is kind, she says "fun") and I like to laugh! He came highly recommended, and all I wanted was lap-pband - didn't even want to discuss RNY! She did not get that when I met with her - but she was very supportive of me making my own decision. Dr. Baggs was just like, "Great! lap band it is!"

OH yes, we are totally the rock stars! When I met Baggs I told him I WAS going to be a successful lap-band patient, he laughed and said he believed me! We never even talked about any olther kind of surgery - I was VERY sure, and he is very positive and encouraging. I said I would exceed that 60% average, and BOY HAVE I - I had 130 to lose and I am at almost 90 lost, so I have lost almost 70%! We are KICKING SOME BUTT LADIES!!!

You can get them at BevMo if you have more shopping to do before you leave - lots of stores listed in Sacramento that carry it. ANYWAYS! I so am not good today! And only 5 miles, and I am going to Harry Potter tonight inztead of working out!! Now I want candy LOL

I am camping too Nicole! I leave on Saturday & get back on Tuesday! And I know about the 'rita pain! That is why I bring www.bajabob.com 's sugar-free margarita mix! You can make them as weak as you like, hide the fact that you have only a thinblefill of tequila, and still "party!"

I told him I could either go to Pinole on the 23rd, or come to Richmond whenever. Also offered to fax my food logs to Robin so they can see how much I am eating again! But I am afraid he will say that 4 lbs. in 3 weeks is more than enough of a loss . . I lost 7 since the fill but now have gained 3 back.

OK I just emailed Dr. Baggs and asked for another .5 fill . . . has only been 3 weeks so I don't know what he will say . . . but I am tired of watching the scale go up instead of down!!

But Tamra, where you have orientation is where you end up for the duration - if you do orientation in fremont, you will have all of your classes and appointments in fremont, surgery un fremont, and fills in fremont! I'd stick with Richmond for SURE Heather - SO totally agree! Kaiser Richmond has the best program around, when I took my santa rosa class they said it was in the top 5 nationally - i think it was #4. In the nation!!! How blessed are WE?!?!

Well girls, I did not stop eating with dinner, NO I nook my son to chinese to celebrate his midterms being over, I only has vegie hot & sour soup - pretty much broth & tofu . . . bbut STILL! The 1 went home and hard a small hard boiled egg and a laughing cow cheese!! OK IM DONE!! I bit several heads off today, I think my aunt flow will be here visiting tomorrow . . explains my appetitie and general bitchiness!

Dr, Baggs definalty has the most experience & a great sense of humor. I met with Dr. Park too tho, and I really liked her! I would have chose her ifI was not having lap-band. CDan I eat a lot by evening, or WHAT Flame Grilled - Burgers (vegie burger) A 71 90 Singles Swiss 2% Milk C 21 50 Southwestern - Egg Substitute 99 48 Peppers, Sweet, Red - Raw A 82 25 Tribe Hummus - SPECIALTY PRODUCTS/Hummus 45 75 Crystal Farms Reduced Fat Cheddar Shredded Cheese C 16 I am at 996 for the day, now I just have to STOP yes I did snack, I had a iced decaf soy latte (90 cals) and a string cheese at 3. I am hungry within 2 hrs!

B - .4 cup lentils w/1 msf veggie sausage patty (YUM!!) L - 1/3 cup boiled edamame with 2 tbs SF marinara & 2 tbs parmesan; 20 cucumber slices with 1 oz. sunflower kernels Got full at breakfast (10 am), and was not hungry until almost lunch. Ate lunch at 12:30 - got full, it was a LOT of food - and I want to eat again right now! So eating is only lasting me 2 - 2.5 hours. I think it may be head hunger right now though; my brain is fried! Cause it is CRAZY busy today, people are wacko and MEAN! When I can't thnk I feel like I need to feed my brain . . I wandered through the cubicles looking for something to feed it a few minutes ago, but no one had anything chocolate, sugar-free, fat-free and with no carbs and no calories, LOL! Darn coworkers. I can already tell you though that I am not going to make it until after my support group meeting tonight, I will have to eat and 5 and then I will need something else before I go to bed or!

But you got your beginning weight, so now you can START!! No more waiting, YAY! Nicole, with my 1st husband we used to have these "tweaker" friends of his who would show UP at like 10 at night, would still be there at 1 am . . I worked the 5am to 1 pm shift, so I woud have a screaming FIT when they showed up! I started saying "HUNNY WE NEED TO GO TO BED, THESE PEOPLE LOOK LIKE THEY WANT TO LEAVE!!"

Candra, I have meetings on Sats here too - Sacto is hours away for me! Maybe sometime but I will just be getting home again fro camping @ the coast on the 25th so am going to stick a little closer to home :-) OMG I must have some hormonal, PMS-menopausal whatEVER going on! I just had - get this - boiled edamame with marinara sauce and parmesan, followed by a forkful (spoon would not fit in the jar, LOL) of sugar free fat free smuckers hot fudge that has been in my fridge for a year!! OMG, WHAT is my ISSUE?? I don't feel done yet, either! argh . . . Anybody watching the bachlorette?

Lets pick a day (some Saturday?) for the coast walk! You guys have a support group meet on the 25th? That day would work for me but not if there's a meet . . . I have support group meet every saturday so do not mind missing - actually they will probably just join us!!

Jes, congrats girl! Good luck in the morning! woo-hoo, I hope you are excited! It's gonna go REALLY fast now!!! Heather - WOW! You are doin phenom girl! I thought you might have gotten discouraged by Dr. F, but girl you just grabbed the bull by the horns and wrestled him right into the dirt!! LOOK AT YOU!! You are going to be there in hardly any time atal!! Good luck at orientation 2morrow for our newbies! Liz is really an absolute LOVE, don't let her fool you! She just has to act mean to weed out the folks who are not serious about this journey :-)

I compete with 3 of my RNY friends, we weighed about the same on the day I had surgery. One had RNY a month before me, 2 did after. I totally kept up with them pound-for-pound until about 198 - so we lost at the same rate for about 40-50 lbs. we all got to onederland in the same week . . but now I seem to have stopped, they are around 191 each and I am BACK up to 197! It is so frustrating . . . but I have no malabsorptive component, and they will struggle too, later. They also do not excercise like I do. And they don't get fills either, so maybe 1 more fill and I will pass THEIR butts up! oohh-waaa!

Oh I know what you mean, for SURE! I am back to having 3 cups of spring mix and/or raw spinach every day, plus the fruit - it's the only thing that helps without cramping me up & making me "pouf", if YOU know what I mean :-) Watermelon is mostly water so you only ate about 1 cup. I routinely eat the whole basket of berries - about 2 cups minus what my boys sneak out of my bowl! Can't help it, I love fruits and vegies. Hmm that right there is a good reason NOT to ask for a fill . . . . betcha I could still east the watermelon tho, even in the mornings! I do have issues with some fruits, they are so juicy that I tend to swallow too fast - not chewing enough. melon has never been a probblem tho!

Here is why I am in such a hurry to get to my mini-goal of 185 (that's 100 lbs. lost for me) by August 30th, the Santa Rosa Marathon: This is what caloriecount.about.com says about me at that weight: Based upon your current Body Mass Index (BMI) of 29.9, you are currently classed as mildly overweight. A BMI of less than 30 is NOT OBESE!! I SO want to be there! And I will get there by the end of August if it half kills me, by God!

LOL Reggie, I am secretly thin! I have opposite problem of most of you girls, I think I am thinner than I am! Still surprised at how big I am when I look in the mirror!! But also surprised when I can fit in jeans that look tiny to me . . so I guess my body image is just all screweed up after all, LOL. Love the dancing thighs! Hello my beautiful ladies! Today is my 9/80 day off, and so far I have spent it walking, cleaning, running my boys all over town, and EATING . . I mean bad! Good food and all - except for the 2 tbs. of commercial blue cheese dressing I had at Round Table - I am just eating SO MUCH!! 990 calories already today, and it's not even dinnertime yet! Yikes! I do have some restriction, but in the mornings only . . . I can eat like 1/4 cup of lentils and start in on 1/2 cup eggbeaters, but can't finish it cause I'm full. That lasts about 3 hours - then I am starving by 11, and no restriction at all by then. None for the rest of the day, unless I happen to take a nap then I am tight when I wake up again. AND I gained another lb. back! I was down 8 lbs. since the fill, now I am down only 4 and gaining! I think I need another .5 so I will email Dr. Baggs this week unless I can make this 4 lbs. go away again. Tina after I posted that about the 3 lb. liver, I did some research online and found out that for every oz. of glycogen (emergency sugar stored in the liver) in the liver, the body has to store 2 to 3 oz. of water! So a 3 lb. liver could mean a 6 to 9 lb. water-weight gain. Apparently, that is the weight that you will lose on the first week of atkins or south beach low-carb diets. Maybe I should go on south beach again for a week . . but that would be falling back on the "old" diet behaviors, so I am more inclined to just stop competing with all of my RNY friends, and say "well my body is taking a break right now, it lost weight too fast and now it is going to rest before I start again." I don't know . . head hunger is bad right now . . if I was irritable I would assume it was time for Aunt Flo to visit, but I don't feel moody, just hungry and all the other parts of hormonal
