Oh stress TOTALLY makes me tighten way up, and I have heard a lot of people say that! I am worried about both you and Tina (and me, frankly!) being too tight because of stress right now, and really no end in sight! Unless Mike gets a job offer tomorrow, LOL. But at least we are not GAINING during this high stress time ladies! Nicole it sounds like your fill takes a week or so to catch you, like mine do. And you have a LOT in your band, compared to me!

Yeah exactly Nicole, that's the one I was talking about!! Liz is SO much nicer now . . . You girls and your sliming! About darned time, LOL. Whenever I get anything stuck, I slime. Period. I think your esophogus keeps doing what it is supposed to do to get food down - contracting and producing saliva - but when you're stuck, it can't go down so it comes up. And about 75% of the time, once I slime/spit/slime/spit I might as well just give up because I'm gonna PB. If I don't PB, I am just done eating. But if I DO PB, then I'm all better and I can go back out and eat like nothing ever happened! I must stress, though, that this ONLY happens when I am talking while eating or otherwise not paying attention. OR if I try to eat too early in the morning - or if I try to eat after waking up in the middle of the night - or if I try to eat when I'm really upset. Those are good stoppers . . . . but I really, really need to slow down and pay attention! It is my own darned fault when it happens.

Tina yeah, looks like he specifically cut $$ for investigations . . . but I'm sure they have been watching this closely and this IS the worst-case they anticipated. You are right, more children will die and even more will end up on the streets and then in prison, yeah that will really save our state money - THAT JERK! So if you transfer back to courts, are you still under the county system or the state's? Our court employees went under the state a couple of years ago - weird I don't know how that all works . . . its just stressful! Good to have back-up plans.

Yeah Tamra, Dr. Baggs set my surgery goal weight at 255 (30 lbs.down) but I was already down to 250 when he did it, so he might have asked me to lose less. I kinda doubt it though, I carried a lot around my "middle" and I used to have fatty liver disease, so I wanted to lose all I could before surgery. Pam is right, depends on you, your surgeon, your shape and your history . . . for some reason Heather had to lose more I think because she had not had a child yet?? All kinds of stuff only the surgeon can tell you!

Its totally depressing Tina - in addition to how bad the budget already was, today he made it much, much worse here is channel 7 news: But because the Legislature's package fell $1 billion short, the Governor had to use his veto pen to make more cuts and boost the state's reserves. The single biggest cut is to Child Welfare Services -- $80 million less for counties to investigate abuse and neglect cases. Yee gads, what is this man thinking?!?! And Pam is stuck with 3 furlough days a month for the rest of the fiscal year. I hate this guy! My Masters degree is not going to help me keep my job, it's all by tenure and I only have 5 years at the county - I am #5 on the layoff list and #1 and #2 have already gotten notices . . . . my only hope is that my BOS will say that I am specialized and they have to exempt me from layoff order - and that MIGHT happen, if it comes down to me. Meantime I have everyone else's workload and mine too . . . . . I am praying for us both Tina!

Jes is right, if you liked him at orientation and you get a good vibe from him tomorrow, stick with him! He rubbed me the wrong way at orientation - but then I liked Robin, and she rubbed you the wrong way! We all need/see different things, do what feels right to you!

Yes Tamra, go on your merry way and lose, lose lose! When you see Dr. Fisher tomorrow, he will PROBABLY give you a surgery goal weight and have the nurse set you up with an appt. with the Psych. I say probably, because he has told some people that they could not even start the program until they had lost more, told 1 friend she had to lose it on her own, made 1 of my friends get his sleep apnea down to under 5 episodes before he would even give him a surgery goal weight . . . but I digress. Those folks all had weird situations, and you do not! I was 285 at orientation and had to lose 30 lbs. for surgery. It went really fast, honestly! A whole lot faster than it is going now!! So start today and log you food girl! I use Calorie Counter Database - Free Online Diet Program but you can do it any 'ol way - and be accountable to us, log here, too! I think we all did the 1200 with some modifications - I didn't do the starches (toast, potatoes) and I lost pretty fast. Not as fast as Heather tho, find out what she's doing! Clearly I am getting over my flu because I managed 883 calories today, which is good for me except . . . not so much, cause I have not gotten off my butt all day! And a whopping 94 total carbs, but 44 was fiber so only 10 carbs over the 40 net I strive for . . . my body always wants carbs for healing, but it probably could have done without that double handful of honey-nut cheerios!
  9. Chad you're going to do great! Walk a lot the day before, and as soon as you can after. All the best!! You can DO THIS!

Oh and Tamra check my starting weight, and Pam's!!
  11. riley4183

    Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

Hey Tamra! WOW that was fast! Who (surgeon) spoke at your orientation? Oh and you do NOT have to keep Dr. Fisher, you can switch if you don't feel comfortable with him or he won't listen to you. Some people like him, some don't. I was a don't :-) Don't let him talk you out of the band!!! Tina - how is the govenor's latest line-item veto going to affect you? I am scared for you!

Make me some of that soup too please Tina, that sounds really good right now . . . still home sick, I managed decaf soy latte for breakfast and 1/2 cup cottage cheese for lunch today . . . I had GOT to get some roughage in but I can't imagine what I might be able to eat . . .I am losing but it is all the water and diet cranberry juice I am drinking, it will not last . . . I cannot exercise at ALL, its bad enough I have to get up out of bed every 2 hours to pee! Lower back is hurting bad, this feels just like a kidney infection except I never had one before without a bladder infection first so I don't think that's it. What kind of soup Tina?

72 lbs with no fill! Holy moley Reggie, that's so FAB! OK I finally ate, after taking enough tylenol . . . I sent my son to the store for cottage cheese, he came back with the kind with chives, and you know what? It was GOOD! Ate 1/4 cup, waited, ate another 1/4 cup, waited, finally ended up eating a whole cup & keeping it down. I sure hope this is just a flu, my fever only got to 101 b4 tylenol and i thought fever from the fou was higher? O WHO KNOWS. Going back to sleep now - - except I am up every 10 minutes cause i am drinking so much clear fluids!

    Lap band erosion

WOW! I am so happy to have Kaiser, a great surgeon, easy fills - and I only drive 1 hour. So far I have been very successful, and I am a very motivated patient! I came on here today because I have developed a slight fever (100-101) today (tummy ache last 2 days), no reflux and tight but no vomitting. So I wondered what the symptoms of slippage and erosion were, cause don't we all worry about that! I must say that I was dissappointed to have to read through pages and pages and pages of off-topic USA vs. Mexico (or anywhere else) discourse. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but . . . I wanted to read about erosion symptoms, hence my search for a thread with this title, LOL. But now I also digress! Forgive me. I am MOST dissapointed that this thread lost that nice doctor who donated his time and expertise to this forum. Fortunately I can just email my surgeon with questions, but not everyone has the ability to do that. That's too bad. Anyway folks - have a great day, and I wish you all the very best in your individual journeys! Because at the end of the day, it does not matter which surgery or when or where you had it - it matters that you made a decision and took charge of your life! If it stops working for you, by all means do something else - just don't give up! Lots of great expertise on here, and support is the name of the game. :smile2: Caio Riley

well dang it . . . . I may have figured out my issue today . . . upset tummy (2 days now), now add fever and chills . . . . yes even in this heat I am in bed under bedspread + down comfortor, and I can't get warm enough . . . . temp is only 100 but apparently that is enough to give me chills! And piss my band off . . . . oh I am SO not hungry . . .good thing I have the day off! I hope I didn't do something to my band thats causing an infection or something . . . . anyone know the nsymptoms of slippage?!? Fever makes me paranoid . . .

Not at work, on a 9/80 day off . . .except for the 2 hours that I worked this morning - gratis of course! - to get done some stuff that bthe CAOs office wants for a morning meeting 2morrow. Basically if I get a request from one of the (Board of) Supervisors or the CAOs office, I jump in it! They could save my job (maybe) when the layoffs start up again, so I'm being indispensable. I hope (!) I am the tightest that I have ever been right now. Soy latte and scrambled egss beaters with LCL wedge for bfast went down fine, but when I took my son to Arby's and ordered a salad (no dressing), I ate some tiny little piece of something - a garbanzo bean I think - and right away I started the salivating thing . . . . that was stuck . . so I grabbed my son's diet pepsi - BIG MISTAKE! - and had a sip, WELL let me tell you I barely got to the bathroom before that came out my nose! OHHH That STINGS! So I was suddenly NOT NOT hungry - at all, now - so I packed up the entire salad and brought it home . . . .I am having soy milk for lunch I guess, I still am not hungry but have my salad when/if I want it. Normally I am only tight in the morning and am starving for lunch by 11, well not so much today! It has been over a month since my last fill . . . . could I be feeling the effects now? Some days yes and some days no? Does anyone know if there is still room on the 20th? If this keeps up I'm going to call Kelly and cancel my fill for the 7th . . . . . how can I be so tight one day, and able to eat 2 cups at a time on another day? I just don't get it! The moral of the story is - do NOT grab a carbonated soda to try and chase a food bit through your band! PAINFUL!!!

Tee hee - gosh I wish I had an annoying husband story to tell - NOT! No annoying husband for 10 years now. Annoying live-in boyfriends, yes - the last one would just go down the street to bring a buddy a bike part or whatever, and not get back until the next DAY -needless to say I took myself to the social engagements he was supposed to attend with me. He probably made 50% of the ones he said he was going to go to. . . if they DON'T want to go, why can't they just say so, so you can take a girlfriend or whatever? Pam sounds familiar huh!!! Happily, HAPPILY single now . . . . . for now.

Nicole I love our group fills too, I wish I could wait for the 20th for my next one! But am eating too much at a time right now as it is . . . I would lose too much ground waiting . . I think! On the other hand, maybe I just think I need a fill, and I'll get too much of one on the 7th then have to come back on the 20th for him to take some out! LOL, I don't think so I would barely be at 5 cc's but I'll bet that's my sweet spot - we are closing in on it!

I was in Liz's first group CM appt. she said it was an expiriment! I saw my surgeon on Friday for the first time, I was already below goal so he fast-tracked me to my CM appt. the next Monday! Of course I had done all of the usual things to make sure I was under goal for the surgeon appt, now I have to lose more by my CM 3 days later?!? uhm . . . .well I lost 1 lb. thank God! Starved myself and worked out like crazy that weekend! Anyway the group thing was OK, I was the only bandster, it would habe been SO much better if there were more! As it was, she talked with the other 3 gals and made their surgery appts. for March and April, then she had them leave and gave me a surgery date in February! Said I was really doing well so I got to go really soon. I had my 2nd surgeon appt. that afternoon, too! So 3 appts. in 2 working days . . . shazam! My pre-op class was 1/2 lap-band, that was REALLY good and calmed me down a LOT. Tell Liz you want a group appt! I bet she'ss do it, mine was a monday either late morning or early afternoon.

Pant size 7/8 is my ultimate goal . . . I started at 22/24 and 285 lbs., right now at 190 lbs. my 14s are plenty comfortable . . . . so how do you guys figure it, 1 pant size per 10 lbs? So to lose 3 more pant sizes I would have to lose 30 or so more pounds? That would put me right around 155-160, which is what I set for myself . . . I have also always, always weighed more than I look like I do . . . I know I am in a 5 (or, when I was a junior I was in a 5) at 138 lbs. and like I said I'm not going to be able to get there again unless I have this skin (3 c-sections and morbid obesity-caused) surgically removed . . . . Going to walk to Starbucks for a SF soy latte, and call it good . . .will take the day "off" to clean instead of excercise LOL
