Jes mine was different, I met with Tom Greenwood the nurse practitioner, he goes over all mofnthe meds with you and prescribes the anti-nasea stuff, I know Dr. P uses him too but maybe stuff has changed since I went? It was over 6 months ago . . .

OMG you guys, something is going on with me! I just weighed in at 192, that is a bit over 10 lbs. from my weigh-in just 4 days ago! Even on a really bad day I don't get in over 1500 cals, so SOMETHING is going on! I have been drinking fluids like crazy all day but only pee'd a few times. WHY am I retaining so much water??? This is making me crazy 'cause I can't explain or control it!!!

Holy moley, catching up with you girls is impossible! Chatty chatty . . . . lol, its all good I am busy busy, too much food and salt and sun and fun, you know how it is! Pretty darned fun, but . . . But so busy that I have been TOTALLY, completely off diet plan, making really bad food choices, I gained weight back and my band is SO there for me again! Jeepers, I can't get away with nuthin! It's going to be all I can do to re-lose these 6 lbs. before the fill with Tina on the 24th . . .I will just make 180 my little goal for that appt, cause right now I am like 187 again! Mostly water, but I'm starting to think that there is something wrong with me that I can gain 6-8 lbs. of water in 2 days and lose it back in 2 more. That CAN'T be healthy! And yet all of my labs are perfect. Just carbs and the 2-lbs-of-water-for-every-lb-of-liver thingy I guess. So until today I went 4 days without excercise and that REALLY got to me I was getting depressed again I know that this happens and yet I just can't bring myself to go out and do it! Forced myself to get 5 miles in this morning and I already feel a ton better. Still I think the stress re: work layoffs and furloughs and MONEY is getting to me more than I want to admit, ya know? Tina I don't know what he knows me by, probably Jane Riley because that is what comes up when I email him! He referred to me as "Life of Riley" to Kelly last time I saw him though, so who knows . . . . he must have hundreds of patients, I know he groups me in with you guys because he always thinks that I am coming fromSacto and I have to remind him that Pinole is farther for me from Santa Rosa . . . Santa Rosa does not refer to Richmond any more, they all go to SSF now so he does not have any reason to have fills up here, darn it! Oh well, I am not going to need many more fills, I am at a good spot if I can JUST CONTROL MY HEAD HUNGER!!! Grrr . . . . Christine I hope you can scan your ultrasound and post it! I can't wait to see out little band baby!!! :-) Nicole you poor thing, I spend 2 days this weekend cleaning the still-unpacked boxes from our garage, and we moved here 4.6 years ago . . . . I feel for ya girlfriend! Jess I SO want to walk that there bridge with you, but have a meeting at 3:30 in Santa Rosa with an elected official the afternoon after the fill on the 24th . . . I should have filled up my calendar faster so he would not have seen an available space there, LOL! This guy is computer-savvy, he does not use assistants to make appointments he searches my calendar by himself and just signs me up . . . really good guy though. But I HAVE TO make that meeting so have to leave Pinole by 1:30 latest. Hi to everybody I'm missing . . . I'm too tired to type but need to go out and walk for my mental health. I'll try & get on later this eve . . . . I love you guys:wub:

I think Robin has the band . . . . we have discussed her weight loss, she is at her lowest in her adult life, and she looks great! I don't think she has the RNY "look." Plus one time I could swear I heard her start to say, "my port . . . " and then catch herself. And Liz is definately pro-band, we are her faves :-) Besides, every medical professional that I know who has had bariatric surgery has gotten the band. Makes sense to me.

When he made me the appt. he called Kelly and asked her to put me in the 2nd group meeting in Spetember, in Pinole. And he told me to come at 9:30 no matter what my card says (it says 9:30). So yes, it sounds just like the other group fills! YAY, I am so glad you told me because it's the day before I leave for the Lake Tahoe marathon, and I was going to reschedcule if none of my girls were gonna be there! Richmond is closer, but group is SO much more fun! I will get there early again to avoid the traffic, maybe we can walk off 1/2 a lb. before the meeting! There is that nice neighborhood that goes up a BIG hill right across the street from the Pinole office. . . .

YAY our Nicole is back! We missed you girlie! :-) Hey don't mess around with cramps and Mirena - it could be either coming out or trying to get further in - if it is unusual for you since about 2 months after you put it in, CALL YOUR NP!! BAD carb day, OK if I go home and have my 2 servings of soup that I have all planned out, with asiago cheese, and then STOP for the night, I will be at 1,103 calories but a whopping 120 grams of crarbs! The 3 things that killed me where: 1 whole cup of black beans; 1/2 slice of white cake (50th birthday party here); and 2 hershey's dark chocolate kisses. YES I LOG THEM! I log everything that goes in, except clear liquids less than 10 calories/serving. SO . . I better get on my water!

YAY a baby ticker!!! Go baby Swisher, grow, grow!! Candra, I just boil lentils in the microwave in a TALL glass container (otherwise they boil over and make a mess!) You do not have the soak them first or anything. I use 1 cup lentils to 2 cups water (use broth for more flavor), put them in for about 10 minutes - they are still pretty hard at that point, I drain of liquid only if I need to them cut up 2 morningstar veggie sausage patties & add them in, stir & cook another 1-2 minutes, flavors blend SO nicely . . . . I like them a little watery if I am cooking ahead for the week, can add water or broth no problems. I'm losing again, yea! I am now down 10 since my last fill

Hi April! I think it's different for everybody . . .except protein, 60 grams minimum. When I was getting 120 grams Robin said it was too much, excess protein is stored as fat by the body just like excess carbs or fat. As to the rest, I know Liz and Robin don't want us to count grams, but I do it anyways and here is what I have determined is optimal for me (does not mean that I DO it, just that I feel good when I stay in the limits!) Fats: About 28-30 gr/day, max of 10 grams "bad" (saturated) fats Fiber: 25 to 30 grams, this is very important for me! Without adequate fiber I can't get things done, TMI ya know Carbs: At least 20 but under 60 "net" carbs - so total carbs minus fiber. I get almost all of my carbs from fruits, vegies tofu products and legumes (lentils a favorite). It sounds like lo-carb and I guess it is, but you can eat a LOT of fruit to hit 45-90 total carbs (before fiber is taken out) Sodium: Supposed to be under 2200 per my PCP, and I rarely achieve that goal. I am usually around 2800, on a bad day I can hit 4000-5000 or more

OK I just ordered my clean-up bin from my waste hauler, and guess what it was FREE! Only 3 cubic yards tho. That's what I'm gonna do this weekend, yippee . . . . .

DOH! Monday is a holiday - and the last day of the pay period - AND my normal AWS day!! So I have to take my AWS day off this Friday and give myself a 4-day weekend, boo-hoo poor me . . . I sure wish I had some $$ to go somewhere! Maybe I will rent a dumpster and clean out my garage and moving-out-on-the-day-he-turns-18 son's room instead . . . . anyone know how hot it is supposed to be this weekend?

I'm so excited for our on-deck girls! :-) My band is good to me again! 3 veggie meatballs and it told me very clearly to STOP it was full, I was up front on phone so I just had to drool into a kleenex and keep talking to the customer, LOL . . no stuck or PB since this last fill, it is amazing! I CAN tell you for sure that the band can act up when you have not had enough water. That's why we need to drink stuff before we can eat in the morning, why we are looser afternoons and evenings . . and, if you have ever tried to eat while dehydrated from a few drinkies the night before, you will DEFINATELY know that, no matter how perfectly warmed up it is, that leftover bean burritto is NOT gonna get in ya!! It's SO about the water girls - I am with Nicole, I think I do best on over 100 oz. Got my 5 miles in before 10 today, good thing because I have to go to Whole Foods at lunch, and to a send-off for a retiring mentor of mine after work, so walking is pretty much done for today. Have a good one my pretties!!

I am County. We (SEIU) have agreed to at least 10 MTO (termed "furlough" because we will be closed) days at the end of the year, which is only like 2.8% and it is already coming out of our pay as of this pay period - so it is spread out over most of the year. We also agreed to a freeze on wages (although somehow I get an equity increase of 2%, but only for the last 6 months of our 1-year contract). Because of how they are doing the health insurance now - they are giving us each $3.46 an hour "allowance" to make up for increased health care costs, those who have only themselves to support on Kaiser are actually making money, those of us who have families to support are losing big-time - because my taxable income has gone up, my taxes have gone up, so now I have an extra $180 a month going to deferred comp to make up for that! On paper I make $90,000 a year but I bring home $3600, and $800 of that now goes to insurance. They TOTALLY screwed families on Kaiser with this stupid plan, but they did avoid some layoffs for THIS fiscal year. Next year will suck, and I think they should have gone ahead and laid some off this year and not been so hard on the reserves. Oh and they have asked us all to take another 5% to 20% in "VTO" (voluntary time off," they say that if they can get 10% across the board it will avoid mid-year layoffs, and the savings are kept in the division that the sacrifices are being made in. In other words, if I want to save my co-worker's job, I have to take a 10% pay cut. The pressure is incredible. I can't do it!

Yug. Furlough, schmurlough. Our union (SEIU) already accepted them, and the give-away of our Tuition reimbursement (costs me an extra $1200 a year to keep my certification now), and an extra $407 per month for 60 county families who have remained on the highest-cost health plan instead of going to the cheapest (Kaiser) like they forced everyone to do last year. Clearly I won't be getting that - but where is the help for Kaiser families on the health plan that costs me an extra $800 a month now??? Heather - cleaned out another closet, I have career clothes for you!! Drum roll please . . . . . the results are in . . . . . this morning I weighed in at almost 5 lbs. less than I did yesterday morning! So drinking 200+ oz. of water DOES indeed flush out all the sodium and help shrink that liver!!! Now I am only 1.2 lbs. more than my loswest before I left on vacation - that's more like it! I am determined to get rid of that by the end of the weekend, too. Go, me! Go, us!!

Yes Jes YOU CAN DO THIS, and you WILL, and you will be SO GLAD that you did!! Your feelings right now are 100% normal my friend :-) OMG I cannot stop pee-ing today, I think that was 15 or 16 times . . . but it is paying off, I just weighed and I am 2 lbs. less right now that I was this morning! So it is mostly water . . . I will be down another 1 or 2 in the morning, get me motivated again and THAT will be good :-) Tina, have you tried DOminex brand vegetarian meatballs? YUMMO and no wheat gluten, they are made from eggplant!! 90 cals 2.5 fat 9 carb 5 fiber (so 4 net carb) and 9 protein, NOT BAD for 5-6 meatballs! I got mine at Safeway, I am eating like a box a week!! Going to read, pee and go to bed - goodnight my lovelies!!

What size are you at what weight? 14,16,18...
riley4183 replied to JenFenRen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can wear any size 12 pants now at 182 and 5'6" I wore a 14 when I hit one-derland I starter in a 22/24 at 285 My "goal size" is a 7/8 -what weight do you guys think that would be? When I was MUCH much younger I was in a 5 at 138 lbs., I'm not ever planning to be that small again -
Dudette Heather, that's SUPER cool! I bet you did feel great. You were born to be a leader, and it's a comin' out now sister! Cool about your book not being a big hassle at least until Thursday, too . . . I know you can catch up, you're a rockstar!! So how are you going to time your surgery around school? Or vice versa?
-
Good for you Jes, wow that IS a good food day! And just think, in a couple of weeks you will SO be done after just the fudgsicle!! SO CLOSE!
-
Heather the last few times I have been out walking I have been thinking about you for some reason . . either we are walking together soon, or ?? I dunno it's kinda weird!!!
-
OK so where IS everybody???
-
Good food day today, 785 calories and within my limits for fat and carbs, and 77 grams of protein. 140 oz of water or herbal iced tea, so far - up to 10 pees! I sure hope it helps! I only have 6 miles in so I'm headed out - I refuse to let this weight gain stick on me!!!
-
Tina, I hear ya babe. That is awful!!! those poor, poor children. I read about another death just last week . . . . yucko girlfriend. I would tell ya to harden your heart but we all know that you can't do that when it comes to the children! Thats what makes you soooo good. Welcome Wantshealth! Yes you weigh at orientation, remember to wear your very heaviest clothes and keep a couple of rolls of nice heavy quarters in your pockets for the bridge toll on the way home, LOL - it is a nice short trip for you, just over the Richmond San Rafael bridge. Bad traffic through Marin County that time of day though! You are very much encouraged to bring a support person to orientation, and to all of your appointments. Support is one of the biggest indicators of success! There is a HUGE Sonoma County Weight Loss Surgery support group that meets at Wells Frago Center the 2nd Saturday of every month, September is out HUGE annual picnic I will send you more info :-) We also have a smaller Kaiser group that meets weekly to walk. WELCOME!!

OMG Tina, I think you SO need to be a foster mom! Put some prayer into this one - sounds like you are already feeling some peace about it - the right thing will happen :-) I'm not talking about a 2-lb. gain here, I am talking about 6+ LBS!!! Way too much too be just water - I think. Although I did just pee for the 6th time this morning, TMI and LOL at the same time - so a lot of it is water and a lot of it is fatty liver from my carb-fest that started in oregon over a week ago, but some of it is also the fact that I am still doing what worked for me 80 lbs. ago, and my body is much much smaller and I need to do different stuff (like eat less, and change my exercise, and add in weights . . . ) now to keep moving forward. One thing that I CAN say is that since I have gained this, I do feel my band now! It will not let me gain back past a certain amount, and I am SO grateful for that! And also my clothes are not any tighter, and people keep commenting that I am still losing . . . so I am trying not to get disouraged and just pour in the water (already on 50+ this morning, hence the TMI above!) and walk a lot more! I did 11 miles yesterday and only 800 calories and still somehow managed to gain - probably because I have 4 servings of super-salty soup, calories count said I was over 5000 mg of sodium yesterday and if any of that had iodone in it, that is what the gain is from - I am allergic and swell like heck. But anyways!!!

Tina, Liz told me that Kaiser Richmoind provides your after-care at the Richmond facility for the rest of your life, even if you no longer have Kaiser. The only thing that they do NOT cover she said is the labs, and they can be very expensive - upwards of $200 for some of the tests. So get all of your 6 month labs done now! Also, your new insurance - if that happens - may cover part of your labs . . kaiser is probably not one of their preferred providers but I betcha they cover at least some of it! Or go to abother lab for that stuff and bring the printed results in to Kaiser, they will enter them into the system for you . . . I think any lab is required to do the work-up as long as it is directed by a physician, their plan or not. More later - got to go walk - I have gained a crapload of weight back :-(

Girls I think we will be glad we had to cancel, it is the same temp now as it was yestrday! Like it never even cooled off last night . . . . UGH

CRAP! It sure looks like construction will be going on and the parking lot, restrooms etc. will be closed! I'm glad you found this, I had not heard anything!!! RATS! You guys want to go somewhere else??? Looks like Shollengerger construction won't be done until November . . . .
