Yep Pam, Jes texted me at 7:10 that she was in the "green chair" with a smiley face, so she's doin' fine! In surgery now. I AM SO EXCITED FOR HER!!!!!

Hey I was just guessing at the 35 . . he could have been 40 . . . no gray tho, I like a little gray :-) 1,061 calories in, 1,244 out today . . . . plus my calculated basal rate at of 2,000 cals. I should be losing 2 lbs. every 3 days at this rate! I sure am tired tho, another 12 miles today . . . . I will be glad when this Tahoe 10K is over and I can get more balance back to my life! I think . . . I sure do like exercise (sorry everybody!) Candra I stopped taking the Lortab whe n I started seeing snakes, LOL! After the 4th or 5th day I was only taking it at night to sleep anyways, I was amazed at how well tylenol chewables worked! Gotta go get some dishes done & pack tomorrow's lunch so I can walk in the AM - TTFN!!

Ha ha, what a joker Jes! I wonder who they had answering the phone??? Eating too many fatty foods today - avacado and sunflower seeds. I KNOW BETTER than to buy sunflower seeds, but I needed a quick lunch that I could eat out on the planner phone, and sliced cucumbers with sunflower seeds always satisfies me :-) Dinner tonight is another big salad with LOTS of vegies, avacado, quorn chick'n, tofu cubes and Walden farms calorie-free ceaser dressing. It's going to be about 5 cups and take me 2 hours to eat! I can't wait! I love salads :-)

Ugh! Pam thank goodness you went in! Isn't Dr. Park wonderful?? :-) I'm glad you feel better! Betcha can't wait to eat, and I'm not talkin' tuna . . . . This sweet spot is amazing . . . . no issues, just not hungry . . . if I can just keep myself distracted from food I do great! I may not need a fill on the 24th, but then again a lot can change in a week and a half so I'm still going to the group appt. with Tina :-) So I walked up "the hill" at lunch today, it is 2 miles UP and I used to not be able to make it without stopping, always wringing wet when I did get to the top, etc. Now I just scoot right up it . . so there I am, haulin' up the hill in my dress and tennies (County worker uniform at lunch, LOL) and at the top of the hill is one of the guys who works at Home Depot (which is what's at the top of the hill), he is watching and he is CUTE about 35 I'd say, yummo! So I'm thinking to myself OK Riley, don't trip or pant or start dripping sweat - {{{{ cute boy alarm, cute boy alarm }}}} . . . .well I get to the top and he's smiling, chatting about what a nice day it is, of course I had to stop and talk to him! And I was not even out of breath thank GOD for once in my life . . . anyways we were talking about how great the views are from up there, and then he moves on to the color of the sky, and then the sunsets - and then he said he thought I should come up tonight and watch the sunset with him!!! Oh dear, WAY out of my league . . . . I laughed it off and said can't do tonight, my son has a midterm I have to drive him to . . . but you can bet I'll be walking up the hill to Home Depot every lunch break now!! Attention = motivation baby!!!!! Again I got to say - YUMMO

Candra, OMG I can't believe you girl! I was swigging straight out of the pain med bottle, then walking then sleeping on day 2 - it was my worst. You going back to work tomorrow or something???? 3 cheers for Doc F though, he pressed all of the gas back out of you! No pain, except that port stings like a BEOTCH doesn't it?? Tina - anxious to hear the news after BOS today!!

That's good thinking Tina . . I need a crapload of dental done, I should get it in case I lose bennies because even if we get to keep Kaiser under the 35% cobra, that does not apply to dental . . but with the extra $800 coming out for health care for my family, I cannot afford ANY copay for dental! Ugh work calls, type to yall in a bit . . .

Good morning ladies! Candra you're a true-per!!!!! I was like that too - OK I';m done, I got my band now let me up! I did not start losing my surgery weight for 5 days tho, stay off that scale! But once you start, you'll drop like a ROCK!! Ain't it weird just SO not being interested in food?? Jes I hope your hairdresser has some room spray in their bathroom, you're gonna need it! MOM actually takes longer to work for me, unless I have something "ready" . . Headed out for my walk! Ta!

Well I'm not too tight, I ate 1463 calories today, withOUT any ice cream LOL! White bean chili, sesame chick'n salad, avacado, (a few) sun chips and (3) oreos! But I burned off 1466 walking over 14 miles!!! Plus my gazelle and my LTT (Lateral thight trainer) now I am POOPED going to grab my book and go to bed! The bad thing about exercising 3+hours a day is that there is NO time for anything else. If my son did not work out and speed walk with me, I would never see him! All I do is work and exercise, my life needs more balance than this. Oh I need to add more shopping!!! Candra you kick ALL ass, take names later girl! Take your Lortab and go to bed!! Batter up Jes!!!

It's not too late! I went liquids only, no carbs for 48 hours prior and my liver was so flat and thin that you could see through it!!

DOH Tamra! So close! Well you probably won't lose 6 lbs. in 3 days, but get as close as you can and beg him!! Drink a TON of water and oceanspray diet cranberry juice between now and then, go ZERO carbs, and it will be close. Eat and drink NOTHING on Thursday until after you weigh! I have managed to lose 6 lbs in 3 days before BUT it was because I had a bunch of water/fatty liver weight. Doesn't hurt to try!!!

I love the sweet spot. Here's what's in my salad that I'm finishing right now (about 2 cups worth): Spring mix Diced celery Diced red bell pepper Diced green onions Diced 1/2 avocado 2 tb. Walden Farms calorie-free Caesar dressing I ate 1/4 cup of diced tofu right before so yeah, I got protein :-) No getting stuck, no PBing, no NUTHin. SWEET! Now if I can just get a handle on the whole "I'm not hungry, so I won't eat" part . . . .

YAY CANDRA! Welcome through to the other side I bet she's on here by tomorrow a.m.! NO CAKES CANDRA. Jes you're up! A little MOM early in the am tomorrow, and then there's no turning back! OH you girls are gonna be SO HAPPY you did this!!! OK I have 8.5 miles so far today, rockin' it!!! I guess I'd better work now, since I've walked 5 miles since I got to the office it may appear that I am inefficient 2day :-)

Go Candra, go Candra - relaxing in the recliner right now, woo-hoo!!! Ya think I should text her right now? I totally had my phone in pre-op - AND post op, I just didn't feel like bending over to grab it when it kept ringing in post-op!!! Good morning lovely ladies, happy Monday to all! Nicole LOL, it's me that wants to train for the Dec. 6th marathon, not Donna! She thinks I'm insane too :-) I'm glad you are going to do the 5K with us!!

Wow, 7 lbs. since Thursday?!?! That's like right after banding! I'm glad you're getting a little unfill. Do you think your organs are already starting to swell, or that it's just hormones? I have heard (actually, read) a lot of women (me and Tina included) say that we are noticably tighter during our TOM, I am pretty sure it's hormones. But thanks for the update, I have been thinking about you and the little band baby! :-)

    Low Carb Banders Unite

Any vegetarian low-carbers out there? I'd love the hear what you eat! I am meat-free and wheat-free, and can't tolerate whey (cheese is fine, just no protein shakes or bars) . . . eggs, lentils, black beans, tofu and edamame are my staples and they're getting pretty darned boring!!!

    PB2 and Bread Crumb Substitute

I love PB2, and I use ground almonds, or flaxseed meal (small amounts - it's kinda slimy!) or parmesan for crumbs. I love the sesame seed idea! I am meat-free AND wheat-free so any ideas for "bread" substitutes are very welcomed!

    Hi I'm Margie

Welcome Margie! Yes it does take time to get the proper restriction, and even MORE time to restrict our head hunger! I hope you'll keep coming back her for the support you need. All the best!

Oh heavens no! 1200 is WAY too much food after lap-band. I probably eat the most out of all of us, I got close to 1200 today (1,153) but that was a big day for me and I am in training so I burn off 800-1,000 calories a day. They want us eating more like 600-900 calories, I average 900 to 1100 a day. BUT they don't want us to count cals exactly - just to follow the post-op diet ("modified regular diet") in the binder. I am meat-free and wheat-free so I modify it a bit with Robin's help

Hi John! Yay, I hope you guys can walk with us! Donna needs to pick us a team name, then we can all sign up when we click on the link in her posts :-) I like "Band of Buddies" Donna, not too out there? Donna I can't do a whole one either . . . yet! That's the point girlfriend!!! I have done a 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles) but never a whole one. I did a 20-mile walk-a-thon once when I was in high school, that's the farthest I have ever done BUT . . . the new me is now doing a whole bunch of things that I never imagined I would, so why NOT train for a marathon??? God is good!!! Can't do sacto support group meeting, will be 10King in beautiful Lake Tahoe :-) Do you know that I have 2 outfits size 10 hanging in my closet right now . . .I have not had clothes that size since before I got pregant with my daughter . . she is almost 26, so . . .27 or so years ago? Man. That just blows my mind! WHO KNEW???

Wow, those are some great friends/family Jes! To do the liquids with you, WOW! I had a lot of support, but nobody did THAT for me! KEWL . . . .

  24. riley4183

    Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

A 5K is only 3.1 miles, we can ALL do this one folks. Pam! John! Want to walk you guys? Heather! Tamra! This is perfect for you, oh unless you had surgery the day before . . and at the rate you guys are going, you probably will!! Jeez here I go again, psyched about exercise!!!
  25. riley4183

    Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

I can speed-walk a whole 5K now, 12.5 minute miles and I'm shooting for 12 minute miles . . . that's truly amazing considering that when I started walking my goal was to be able to do a single 20-minute mile without stopping :-) Aren't our bodies amazing things?
