  1. Scale Addict here. I honestly cannot even go pee without checking the end results on the scale afterwards. Who knows how much extra pee weight you could have been carrying around in there! I've always been like that though. Even before banding. Back then it probably was bad because if the numbers were up I'd think "oh screw it" and order a pizza because what's the use, but now I don't think it's such a terrible habit. I'm working in stages though so right now my goal is to get out of the 8's. Before that it was to get out of the 9's etc...
  2. I was banded in MX for $6800 with zero fills included. I've been shopping around and am looking at $425-$450 a fill locally. The $450 place also quoted me a price of $2000 for a years worth. I'm not sure if the annual price is worth it or not. I may only need 2 or 3 but all the reading I do here about continuous fills/un-fills makes me unsure.

    Help??

Whatever you decide, I think it needs to be done under medical supervision. Suddenly stopping meds/alcohol can be dangerous. 2mgs. of Xanax is quite a bit if you really have only been taking it for a short time. I hope you are being very honest with your medical providers regarding your med. and alcohol consumption. Congratulations on your weight loss!
  4. I just checked this morning and it's 2 days away from a month (banded 10/10). I've lost 15 lbs. I haven't had a fill yet but do still feel some restriction (seems to come and go) and I'm pretty mindful about what I stick in my mouth. The fact that I spent so much money is a pretty motivating factor when I think about going overboard with food. I haven't been able to bring myself to get on the torcherous treadmill yet though and that would probably help accelerate the process. God I hate exercising.

    Oh Crap!!!! HELP

Someone here did this just a few weeks ago and called her Dr. I think they told her to drink some gingerale and not to worry. Maybe you can find the thread but I'm pretty sure everything turned out okay.

    Starving!!!!

 12 days post-op and starving to death here. I didn't have a pre-op diet but am supposed to be on clear liquids 2 weeks post-op then 2 weeks thicker liquids like creamy no-chew soups and such. Isn't happening and I can't wait for my first fill on 11/17. I honestly felt better the few days post-op when I was swollen and felt pressure in my chest rather than feeling hunger. I'd almost rather be sore again.
  7. Hi Jan, How are you doing? I've been posting on this board some. I'm doing okay with 4 lbs. lost since Dr. weigh in but I still have this feeling under my left boob like I was punched or something. Scars are doing good though. I found a place by my work that does fills for MX patients for $425. Holy hell but at least I can do it at lunch but no flouro. I checked out the Vegas place and it's 19 miles from the airport. I you want to coordinate stuff together, please let me know. Hope all is well, Cari.

ps- The EAS carb watch protien drinks that you can find at any Walgreen's in a pinch are pretty good. I only took a couple sips because I thought living off 100 cals. a day was crazy (hate fruit).

  8. Hi, Does anyone know if LapSF takes MX patients? TIA!
  9. I know everyone's different but I think it would be fine. The day after I had mine, me and the girl that I was at the airport/hospital/hotel with walked several blocks to a few stores near the hotel. I took a cab home from the airport the following day and was also fine with making a grocery store run that day. Good luck and try to arrange a ride if you don't feel comfortable on your own.

    Soft Food Diet Thread

I want to be on your diet! :wink2: I got my band on 10/10 also and I was told clear liquids 1st 2 weeks, full liquids 2nd 2 weeks then soft foods for the 3rd two weeks. 6 weeks total then go in for a fill/check-up. I certainly wasn't being as creative as Aubrie though. I was thinking more along the line of Gerber lol.
  11. My hubby doesn't even know! :laugh:I told him I went to Ensenada for a spa weekend and when he asked me why I was hobbling around a little, I told him I got slammed against some rocks during a scuba dive. My mom knows and I'm sure she told everyone on her side of the family like my sister and grandma but they know not to say anything. I might tell him about 40 or so lbs. from now. Jackass, that's what he gets for calling me fat whenever we get in to heated name calling arguments.
  12. Hi! I didn't even know about this friend thingy until I started messing around with my profile just now!

  13. lol, that's funny. Counting down the hours. I'm only 4 days post-op considering that I didn't have my surgery until about 7:00 PM on the 10th but I can see myself watching the clock when the time comes to transition. I'm afraid I might get dizzy and fall on my face before long. Right now I'm fine hunger wise but I don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to survive off broth and SF Jello, which is probably adding up to about 100 cals. a day. I need some healthy caloric ideas for the clear liquid stage.

    No stitches just glue???

I'm glued. Pretty common these days. When I took the bandages off night before last, I saw a little spot that was open (kinda overdid it physically 2 days post-op) on the largest incision. I just glued it back up myself (with nail glue lol) and put on some butterfly strips. Good as new!
  15. Gas-X strips for sure. I also bought some liquid tylenol and Aleve (naproxin) gel caps that I've been poking a hole in and draining a couple in the dose of tylenol. The med. that I was given at the surgery place was a liquid blend of acetaminophin and naproxen so I figure I'm pretty much duplicating that with my home concoction lol. I still have some of what they gave me too though. I also bought some anti-scarring cream and butterfly strips. I had surgery last Friday and back to work on yesterday so I can't hang out in my lounging clothes but as soon as I walk in the door after work, off goes the bra that's for sure! I had a really easy time with it actually. No nasea or anything. I went shopping for stuff the monday that I was home and actually did some gardening. I could have gone in to work but wth, I'd already taken the day off!
  16. Hi Everyone! Just got banded (self pay) last Friday evening in TJ and feeling great! I had a question that I was hoping someone might be able to help with. Coincidentally, I am also fairly new to UHC (so might be considered a pre-existing condition?). What I was wondering was, if I went to my Doc. and/or insurance and said oh btw, I have this gastric band that you should probably be aware of.... Do you think they would cover check-ups or fills? I think my pcp would probably refer me to a nutritionalist because I am still no where near a goal weight lapband or not, but it sure would be great to have the fills covered too! I've been reading here for quite some time and all the information posted has been invaluable! Thanks! :smile2:

    UHC Coverage for fills/after-care??

I went to Bajanor which from my research here, does not seem to be one of the more popular places but the price ($6800 all inclusive) and the close proximity to the border was pretty much the deciding factor for me. It wasn't the most luxerious place but I got what needed to be done and was then transferred to a pretty sweet hotel! ETA: Since you are in the area and wouldn't need airfare or shuttle service to/from any airports, I imagine just about all the places in your area would be less for you! Good luck!
