At 16 years old I was 5'5 and weighted 95lbs and wore a size 0.  By the time I completed my undergraduate degree, I weighted 125lbs and wore a size 3.  By the time I completed my Master's I was up to 145 lbs and wore a size 6.  I continued to gain weight and when I got divorced in 2008, I lost approximately 35lbs and was back done to about 140lbs and wearing a size 6.  I eventually started to gain weight again after getting married to my current husband.  I decided to try weight watchers and got a gym membership.  I lost 40lbs and was wearing a size 8 and was content with my size.  Then tragedy struck and one night I was at the gym and my husband called to tell my my 18 year old neighbor had killed himself.  I immediately left the gym to come home and support my neighbor and her family.  I never went back to the gym.  I slowly started to gain weight again.  I had my first son and was actually smaller after having him then I was prior due to extreme morning sickness.  However, while breast feeding I craved things I never ate before and gained weight quickly.  I eventually stopped breastfeeding and my weight stabilized.  I attempted dieting and exercising again multiple times but no matter what I did my weight did not seem to change.  I then had my second child and ended up at the largest I had ever been 258 lbs.  I had been diagnosed with an unspecified autoimmune disorder and was struggling with chronic pain and fatigue.  I was then diagnosed as pre-diabetic (something I never wanted to deal with was diabetes).  I decided that I could not do this anymore.  I was not physically able to keep up with my 3 year old.  I was missing my older son's events because I could not keep up with the 3 year old and it was easier to just stay home with him and let my husband take my oldest.  So I decided to meet with Luminis Health to discuss my bariatric surgery options.  I decided to have the sleeve.  Surgery was on 8/23/2024.  It has been an adjustment but well worth it.  In the short time I am still adjusting and healing but have already noticed a difference in my energy level.  The way you are eating after the surgery is actually very similar to how I ate as a child and teenager (probably why I was so skinny).  I got away from this due to my busy and hectic scheduling and not eating regularly and then eating large quantities when I did eat.  I also was making very poor choices in food.  I think that because I naturally ate like this as a child and teen, it has made this fairly easy for me to adapt to.  I would not have been able to do this without the surgery, as I would have constantly felt hungry.
