  1. Same! I love cottage cheese and have been eating it since I was a kid. Growing up cottage cheese and canned pears were my jam! Since surgery, I have eaten a lot of cottage cheese. I mostly eat it by itself as a snack. I haven't eaten a lot of fruit yet but will sometimes eat some frozen blueberries with it. I don't really cook with it so I cant really help with that. I don't love plain Greek yogurt so I would rather put cottage cheese in anything that calls for that.

    August Surgery buddies

We are here to help support you to continue your good routines after your tests! Just let us know how you're doing. Right now it sounds like you are making amazing choices and have great routines, so it sounds like your brain is not going to let you just switch that off. I hope your tests go smoothly and everything is okay.

    Mindful eating?

Same. I'm not great at eating slowly even after surgery. It takes 20-30 minutes for me to eat, but its supposed to take more like 45. I enjoy playing a phone game or reading while I'm eating to slow me down. I will say I make much more of an effort to chew my food a lot more and this has helped me slow down a lot (it has also pretty much turned me off eating plain deli meat, because the texture gets too gross when over chewed). Some times I will even step away from the table/meal for a while and then come back if I am still hungry. Just adding my 2 cents, but I think you have a lot of good information to help you @Neostarwcc I'm going to try to incorporate more of these myself.

    Food Before and After Photos

Sadly once I got heavier/bigger, I was told it was fine not to eat everything on my plate. But the damage was done. Definitely a struggle but I’m trying to be better about it.

    Food Before and After Photos

Did anyone else grow up with parents who told you to clean your plate/not waste food?!?! I still really struggle with this. I dislike when I portion out food and then feel like I can't finish it, especially if I have already logged it in my app. I definitely have to fight with my brain to just put it in the fridge and finish it later, if I get hungry. I actually think eating out helps with this because I know I'm going to not finish a whole plate or I share with my husband and he will finish it.

Report Your WINS ..What is your today's win??🥇

My win is that I have had zero Halloween candy so far, even though its been in my house and at my office all week! This is a big deal for me because sweets were always my go to before surgery.

    Affordable plastics

I went to Tijuana for my sleeve surgery because insurance would not pay for mine. They were amazing and I know they do plastic surgeries too. Here is the link to their website: https://www.limarp.com/

    Newbie questions!

I’m still fairly new to the game (only 8 weeks out from sleeve surgery), but I look at it as I have invested a lot of money, time and energy into this surgery and so I want to make good choices now. I don’t want the money and hard work to go to waste. I am losing slowly but it’s still rewarding to see the pounds drop on the scale and it makes me want to keep making good choices.
  14. I am 8 weeks out from the sleeve and I am losing slower than I would like too. I am not drinking (but sometimes I will take a sip to try my husband’s drink- it keeps me from missing it so much). I think sometimes it’s genetics. I’m on average getting about 1000 calories a day and usually hitting the 60-80g of protein every day. I try to make good choices but it’s frustrating not to be where you want to be. One thing my friend tells me is that me losing weight slowly now validates that I needed the surgery, because of how hard it was for me to lose weight without it and that I never would have been successful without it. I don’t know if that makes sense, but it helps me feel like I made the right choice when I’m struggling with not losing more.
  15. This makes me so nervous that the sleeve wasn’t the right choice for me and now I’m going to have to have a different surgery! I am losing more than the person in the video but it’s definitely not at the rate I thought I would lose it.

    Going back a step?

When I had Tuna for the first time, it was in my soft food stage and it was heavy to eat. In puree, I stuck with cottage cheese, creamy soups, yogurt, mashed beans, and "ricotta bake". I would say try puree, but nix the tuna for now. I wasn't eating more than a 1/4 cup at a time.

stalling just 1 week post op

I was the same way. I had my surgery at the end of August and even still I am slow to lose weight; I thought it would just "melt" off after surgery because of how few calories I was intaking, so it has been frustrating. I'm trying to trust the process and follow my food plans, but I think the point is that everyone loses differently and we can't help which camp we are in.

    Food Before and After Photos

I make a roasted acorn squash last night with chicken for my husband and I and he really liked them. I went the more savory route. My dad makes a stuffed acorn squash recipe that is delicious but might need to be tweaked for newer surgery patients (like me), but I thought I would share since they seem to be a big hit!

It sounds like the big takeaway is that you are overall doing really well. I think you can easily make the food switches. Sorry about the counselor, but maybe an external counselor will be better because you can pick some one that you like and fits you.

    First Bariatric Christmas

I always make Christmas cookies for my neighbors, but I usually sample them along the way. I’m going to have to have a lot more resolve this year and not sample the goods!

I think I'm going to make an appt with my PCP soon and do blood work and a physical since that is the main drawback of not being able to see my surgeon in person.

    First Bariatric Christmas

I have the same concerns going into the holiday season; all 3 holidays in a row always feel hard and gluttonous. I'm going to avoid candy on Halloween and for Thanksgiving and Christmas, I'm going to ask for a salad plate instead of a big on and just take small scoops of what I really like; planning on starting with my protein first.

    August Surgery buddies

I got my surgery done in Tijuana since insurance wouldn't pay for mine. As part of their package I have a dietician and psychologist I meet with bi-weekly for now and then it tapers off. They are not the most helpful, but it is nice to talk about things with them and they have a lot of knowledge about what we are going through.
