    Affordable plastics

I went to Tijuana for my sleeve surgery because insurance would not pay for mine. They were amazing and I know they do plastic surgeries too. Here is the link to their website: https://www.limarp.com/

    Newbie questions!

I’m still fairly new to the game (only 8 weeks out from sleeve surgery), but I look at it as I have invested a lot of money, time and energy into this surgery and so I want to make good choices now. I don’t want the money and hard work to go to waste. I am losing slowly but it’s still rewarding to see the pounds drop on the scale and it makes me want to keep making good choices.
  5. I am 8 weeks out from the sleeve and I am losing slower than I would like too. I am not drinking (but sometimes I will take a sip to try my husband’s drink- it keeps me from missing it so much). I think sometimes it’s genetics. I’m on average getting about 1000 calories a day and usually hitting the 60-80g of protein every day. I try to make good choices but it’s frustrating not to be where you want to be. One thing my friend tells me is that me losing weight slowly now validates that I needed the surgery, because of how hard it was for me to lose weight without it and that I never would have been successful without it. I don’t know if that makes sense, but it helps me feel like I made the right choice when I’m struggling with not losing more.
  6. This makes me so nervous that the sleeve wasn’t the right choice for me and now I’m going to have to have a different surgery! I am losing more than the person in the video but it’s definitely not at the rate I thought I would lose it.

    Going back a step?

When I had Tuna for the first time, it was in my soft food stage and it was heavy to eat. In puree, I stuck with cottage cheese, creamy soups, yogurt, mashed beans, and "ricotta bake". I would say try puree, but nix the tuna for now. I wasn't eating more than a 1/4 cup at a time.

stalling just 1 week post op

I was the same way. I had my surgery at the end of August and even still I am slow to lose weight; I thought it would just "melt" off after surgery because of how few calories I was intaking, so it has been frustrating. I'm trying to trust the process and follow my food plans, but I think the point is that everyone loses differently and we can't help which camp we are in.

    Food Before and After Photos

I make a roasted acorn squash last night with chicken for my husband and I and he really liked them. I went the more savory route. My dad makes a stuffed acorn squash recipe that is delicious but might need to be tweaked for newer surgery patients (like me), but I thought I would share since they seem to be a big hit!

It sounds like the big takeaway is that you are overall doing really well. I think you can easily make the food switches. Sorry about the counselor, but maybe an external counselor will be better because you can pick some one that you like and fits you.

    First Bariatric Christmas

I always make Christmas cookies for my neighbors, but I usually sample them along the way. I’m going to have to have a lot more resolve this year and not sample the goods!

I think I'm going to make an appt with my PCP soon and do blood work and a physical since that is the main drawback of not being able to see my surgeon in person.

    First Bariatric Christmas

I have the same concerns going into the holiday season; all 3 holidays in a row always feel hard and gluttonous. I'm going to avoid candy on Halloween and for Thanksgiving and Christmas, I'm going to ask for a salad plate instead of a big on and just take small scoops of what I really like; planning on starting with my protein first.

I got my surgery done in Tijuana since insurance wouldn't pay for mine. As part of their package I have a dietician and psychologist I meet with bi-weekly for now and then it tapers off. They are not the most helpful, but it is nice to talk about things with them and they have a lot of knowledge about what we are going through.

I usually use my phone too but I used my computer the other day and saw all the things that computers allow. It actually let me enter my surgery info finally too, when I used the computer.

  19. Maybe start by eating more of these, until you can see your dr.

$78 dollars is pretty standard for an amount for counseling if insurance is setting the price. If people are paying without insurance it’s usually over $100 for an hour session.

I think we all feel that way sometimes. It sounds like your body was telling you want you needed in that moment and you listened. Also, even if you had eaten everything in your kitchen yesterday, it sill wouldn't be the worst thing. You chalk it up to a bad day and do better the next day. I feel like after surgery, eating more frequently definitely helps me with managing my hunger, eating slower, and not having eyes that are bigger than my stomach.

Maybe you can work on more realistic thinking, disputing irrational beliefs, and listening to your body. If you are hungry, then it's okay to eat; ask yourself if you are truly hungry or bored/tired/upset.

    New Clothes

You guys are making me wish I was already at the point where I could get rid of my old wardrobe and get smaller clothes! I have lost about 25 lbs but I always lose up top before bottom, so I have noticed my shirts getting looser but that’s about it. 🤞🏼it happens soon!

I can use the quote button on my iPhone. If you look at your picture, right above your text box, it has the quote button. It technically on the the post you want to quote, not on the response box that you are using.

I am 6/ almost 7 weeks out from sleeve surgery so I have started upping my working out some; mostly intervals of walking and jogging. I know I still need to be mindful of what I’m doing and not go too crazy with running or weights. Other than feeling low energy during a workout or a little light headed after, I haven’t had any issues. So my question is: if any of you have had issues with working out, what did you feel in your body and what exercises were you doing that caused it? I want to make sure I’m not pushing too hard. Also, I’m jonesing to take a bath. When did you guys feel comfortable taking a bath or going swimming with your incisions?
