    First Bariatric Christmas

I always make Christmas cookies for my neighbors, but I usually sample them along the way. I’m going to have to have a lot more resolve this year and not sample the goods!

I think I'm going to make an appt with my PCP soon and do blood work and a physical since that is the main drawback of not being able to see my surgeon in person.

    First Bariatric Christmas

I have the same concerns going into the holiday season; all 3 holidays in a row always feel hard and gluttonous. I'm going to avoid candy on Halloween and for Thanksgiving and Christmas, I'm going to ask for a salad plate instead of a big on and just take small scoops of what I really like; planning on starting with my protein first.

I got my surgery done in Tijuana since insurance wouldn't pay for mine. As part of their package I have a dietician and psychologist I meet with bi-weekly for now and then it tapers off. They are not the most helpful, but it is nice to talk about things with them and they have a lot of knowledge about what we are going through.

I usually use my phone too but I used my computer the other day and saw all the things that computers allow. It actually let me enter my surgery info finally too, when I used the computer.

@Justarwaxx how did you get the mermaid graphic/weigh loss measurement that shows up under your posts?

What temp and time do you use for the oven?
  8. Maybe start by eating more of these, until you can see your dr.

$78 dollars is pretty standard for an amount for counseling if insurance is setting the price. If people are paying without insurance it’s usually over $100 for an hour session.

I think we all feel that way sometimes. It sounds like your body was telling you want you needed in that moment and you listened. Also, even if you had eaten everything in your kitchen yesterday, it sill wouldn't be the worst thing. You chalk it up to a bad day and do better the next day. I feel like after surgery, eating more frequently definitely helps me with managing my hunger, eating slower, and not having eyes that are bigger than my stomach.

Maybe you can work on more realistic thinking, disputing irrational beliefs, and listening to your body. If you are hungry, then it's okay to eat; ask yourself if you are truly hungry or bored/tired/upset.

    New Clothes

You guys are making me wish I was already at the point where I could get rid of my old wardrobe and get smaller clothes! I have lost about 25 lbs but I always lose up top before bottom, so I have noticed my shirts getting looser but that’s about it. 🤞🏼it happens soon!

I can use the quote button on my iPhone. If you look at your picture, right above your text box, it has the quote button. It technically on the the post you want to quote, not on the response box that you are using.

I am 6/ almost 7 weeks out from sleeve surgery so I have started upping my working out some; mostly intervals of walking and jogging. I know I still need to be mindful of what I’m doing and not go too crazy with running or weights. Other than feeling low energy during a workout or a little light headed after, I haven’t had any issues. So my question is: if any of you have had issues with working out, what did you feel in your body and what exercises were you doing that caused it? I want to make sure I’m not pushing too hard. Also, I’m jonesing to take a bath. When did you guys feel comfortable taking a bath or going swimming with your incisions?

I definitely cannot eat steak yet, but my husband and I went out for Indian food and that was pretty successful. I felt a little nausea after, but I think that was because I ate too much (it was the first time I had had my favorite Indian food since before surgery and it was soooo good!). The only other time was when I was on puree and my friends and husband ordered food, so I got plain mashed potatoes.

I have a Garmin smartwatch that logs all my activity. I use the Baritastic app for logging food. I saw the dietitian today and she was only so so helpful. She didn’t review my chart, I guess, because she thought I was moving to purée. I’m might go rogue soon and just do my own thing! 🤣

I have my dietician appt tomorrow so I’m going to talk with her about it. I have lots of questions! 🤣

I know I’m over reacting and not giving myself enough grace but I have gained a pound this week and only lost 6 lbs in a month. I’m so frustrated! I really wanted the weight to fall off after surgery and I have come to terms that it will be a slow process (even though I’m eating so much less than I was). I have even been trying to walk more. I know there is nothing really to do but keep going and it will get better, it’s just so disheartening to not to see the scale going down, especially at 5.5 weeks out.

I went back a little over a week after. I work remote and in person. You will be on pain meds for awhile, so you might not be great at work on those.

    Body Dysmorphia

I’m a therapist and also a recent gastric sleeve patient. Real life body dysmorphia may never fully go away but exposure therapy and CBT usually work best to help treat it; both are about disputing thinking errors and rationalizing your thought process. It can definitely be worse when we are hormonal or in a bad space. I think giving yourself grace goes a long way. Try these steps and see if they help! Good luck! Identify your triggers. ... Stop comparing yourself to others. ... Talk yourself up. ... Look outward. ... Cut the negative self-talk. ... Practice positive affirmations. ... Give yourself a reality check. ... Accept all of you.

I’m really frustrated and need some help. My dietitian was sick this week when we were supposed to have our appt (not frustrated at her, people get sick). What I’m frustrated about is that my appt was on Tuesday and Wednesday was my 5 week out mark, so we were already pretty much a week behind. I want to start on soft foods and have tried a few, but I’m also nervous because usually the dietitian usually gives me a food plan and foods I should and should not eat. What did you guys start soft foods with so I can feel more confident trying a few more things until our next appt on next Tuesday? I have tried hard boiled eggs, lentil soup, and tuna/chicken from a can.

I have that worry too. I’m pretty good at taking small bites, chewing a lot, and setting down my utensils in between bites but sometimes that still doesn’t take me 30 minutes (I’m also only on soft foods). I feel the most rushed at breakfast when I’m trying to slow down to eat but still rush out the door for work. I think it’s just trying to be mindful and slow down as much as you can. If your body feels okay, it’s probably okay.

Report Your WINS ..What is your today's win??🥇

I use a night cream that I love and have definitely had to use more since surgery. I feel like my skin is way more dry. I love massages but hate walking away feeling so greasy from all the lotion, but the other day, I told my husband we needed to get one soon, cause I’m pretty sure my skin will just soak up all the lotion!!! 🤣

My husband and I are going to see a show tonight and it’s my first time going out since the surgery. I’m fine sticking with water for a drink, but I think we will probably do at least a little food. They have a limited menu but they do have a charcuterie board. Im a month out and have my dietitian appt on Tuesday where they should give me the okay to start soft food… but I actually already started with a few like eggs and tuna. Do you think I will be safe picking at the board some? Is there something I should stay away from?
