surgery date with dr de bruyne

im being banded by dr chris a month today yeah 14th nov. i begged my gp for over a yr my bmi is 47 im 26 and i have sciatica and my feet hurt so much. iv got asthma and can generally feel my health going down hill at this young age and i was refused. it is a postcode lottery defo the criteria in my area (york) is bmi of 50 or 45 if you have a set list of other issues sciatica wasnt one of them. and she said my pct and a few others now only do bypass i was willing to have bypass but prefer band as i havnt ruled out another sprogling yet lol if it would have been band id have fought them all the way i think its so unfair the differences. my freind is having bypass on nhs and the current waiting time in my area is about 9 months. shes just had all her tests and should be getting surgery mid summer

    hi newbie needing some advice!!

i hope you get your referal natalie i couldnt cos my pct only does bypass with bmi of 50+ which is considerably annoying when mine is 46 averaging over last 6 months and i do refuse to gain to get it im now actually happy in a way although its gonna cost me monthly for the next 4 yrs im more happy with the band and its on my terms i feel like im in control if that makes sence well moneys ready i went today to sign up and got my euros cos rates gone down slightly today so im scared will start dropping with all this financial upheaval in the news atm. so iv got 4200 euro for op and spends which should be plenty shouldnt it (thats 3500 pound) just need to get date and book flights im feeling bit nervous now but still excited i think its that no going back thats it now the euros are there and im off lol, just hope hes got app sooner rather than later fredrick hasnt emailed me back yet to confirm this 4000 euro package is he normally quick with his replies i think im so excited my idea of quick is instant lol:thumbup:
  9. i also feel like iv had a few incidents when i have woke up gasping and had to take my inhailer for asthma im 99% sure that was s/a. it is one of the reasons for wanting op my auntie died at 40 from sleep apnea so it is very serious she just nodded off and died no cause was found so they said it must have been that, she was very overweight and carried alot on her chest area it scares me shitless

    All pain .........No Gain

so sorry to hear that, can i ask what surgery you had that left the scaring. i had laproscoping appendix removal 7 months ago and was basically hacked at open surgery would have been cosmetically nicer and im worried as i have alot of scaring in rib area also cos if this i have fresh scaring in my belly button do they put camera in their. im worried cos im going to belgium for op so dont see doc till day before im worried he will say scars are too fresh, dont know whats classed as fresh in terms of scaring hope all goes well next time

    hi newbie needing some advice!!

hi vicki, i think whats put me off going abroad was the extras the might occur i wouldnt want to go alone so id have to spend on accomodation for dh or mum and then i would be limited on times as would have to fit around other peoples working patterns for childcare more than in the uk, overall i thought i wouldnt save much more as the all inclusive packages iv seen have been around the 5k mark not including taking a partner. i dont have much time off and xmas is in between placement i want to be reasonably healed before i start placement on the 8th dec i know ill still be sore and have to go steady but im hoping for a few weeks post op. can i ask what your paying for belguim and whats included? just seems so much involved i wish id won the euro millions last night and booked the top nothc clinic stress finished lol
  14. hi, chel im 26 and hoping to be banded before xmas. the only thing holding me back is finance my bmi is 46 and has to be 50 for wls on nhs in this area and then only bypass. iv been ringing around and i could puss to the hospital groups basic package and pay for my fills as and when. iv read through some old posts and seen quiet a strong mixed reaction about the hospital group. i wasnt expecting much aftercare which was one of the let downs some have felt she did explain clearly that its just op, meds and xray and there so much on net im sure i could easily find out diet advice and support here so basically what im asking if it was the basic package with the hospital group or nothing at all would you take the basic package?? also wondering about fills. am i right in thinking the band doesnt work until its had its first fill about a month later, how many fills do you think someone with bmi of around 45 would need?? this is a big step for me cos involves taking a loan out and the 1 month aftercare does worry me id hate to have band it slips after 2 months and nhs just wip it out. another question lol if that was to happen would the nhs perserve my band if it was doing the job i was loosing and ultimatley acheiving something thats saved them the cost of bypass surgery??? thanks in advance im trying to get as clear picture as i can before i sign on the dotted line, oh another one does anyone else know of any reputable companies that can band for around 5k, going abroad is not option as im a student nurse can only have xmas and easter off and i want to be banded for xmas. it is reasonable to say i could be back in classroom for few hrs within the first week??:bolt:
