Omg lucky! What a fantastic score!!! We don't have thrift stores here 😭😭 We do however, have those budgeted stores which I visited but barely found anything nice. I got 2 shirts but were still abit tight on me which were like 3 USD each..

Haha, I totally get that! I actually pushed myself at the gym today just to close all my fitness rings—there’s something so satisfying about it! And oh my gosh, congrats on sizing down! I haven’t gone shopping for new stuff yet, but I can definitely tell my underwear are getting loose, so I know it’s coming soon. That’s such a good feeling! Let me know how thrifting goes!

Hey Christine, First off, you're doing amazing. I can completely understand how frustrating it must feel to have gone through this big revision surgery, gotten rid of one problem (yay for no more acid reflux!), only to face these new challenges. It’s not whining at all—you’ve been through a lot, and your body is still adjusting. It’s totally okay to feel disheartened sometimes, but just remember, you’re already so strong for getting this far! The side effects you’re dealing with sound so tough, especially the stomach cramping, nausea, and the constipation (crippling pain is no joke). It’s good that you’re in contact with your surgeon’s office and that they’re supportive because it’s absolutely their job to help you through this—don’t worry about being "that patient"! The fact that you’re sticking to the plan, taking your meds, and pushing through, even when it’s so hard physically, is a huge victory in itself. It’s natural to feel overwhelmed, but you’re not alone, and things will get better as your body finds that balance. Keep going, take things one day at a time, and give yourself all the grace you need to heal. You’ve got this! Sending you a big virtual hug—you’re doing better than you think, Christine! ❤️

Haha, no worries! I’ve definitely got the signs of my period, just waiting for the volcano to start 😅. That balance work sounds challenging but amazing! It’s so cool that you’re sticking with it, especially with all those changes your body is adjusting to. And you’re right, we’re only going to get better by showing up and trying! I totally relate to being embarrassed about not being good at something, but this time I’m also like, who cares. I actually just booked a super stretch class that’s like yoga, so I’m excited to give it a try—and, of course, laugh at myself along the way! I also got a Fit watch to track EVERYTHING.. i really love this new ME

Way to go! It’s awesome that you’re staying active with walking, the bike, and your stretches—that’s a great routine! I totally get what you mean about group exercise. I’m super self-conscious too, but I just fake it till I make it, haha! I try to get into that “main character” mindset, which really helps. And honestly, it’s so weird because EVERYONE has self-doubt, even those super fit girls we see. They all have something they don’t like when they look in the mirror, so I think a big part of the journey is learning to love ourselves along the way. Hopefully, we can reach that point together!

Thanks! Haha, yeah, that LBT workout does kick my bum, but like you said, in the fitness world, that’s a good thing! 😅 Your group fitness class sounds like it will be a great challenge too, but it’s awesome that the instructor is so welcoming and encouraging. You’ll be surprised how much you can do! The blister sounds annoying though, sticking to walking and yoga is a smart move until it heals up. I’ve been thinking about trying yoga myself, but I know I’m so stiff! Still, it seems like a great way to get more flexible and improve balance over time. As for the pregnancy thing, oh my gosh, you made me freak out for a second! 😳 I really don’t think it’s that because I’ve seen signs of my period, but still, please no! 😅 You’re right about the surgery affecting everything, including hormones. I think it’s just part of the whole adjustment process. Hopefully, it will all settle soon.

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a few updates as I approach my 2-month post-op milestone. I missed my period in September, but I think it’s finally here today. It’s still a bit uncertain, but I’m starting to wonder if this is connected to my weight loss journey. Yesterday, I did my first aerobics class—LBT (legs, bum, and tums)! It was a fantastic workout, even though I was the slowest in the class. The trainer was super supportive, giving me different modifications to make things manageable. My knees were definitely feeling it, but I can't wait for the day I can work out without pain. Today, I'm planning to try aqua aerobics unless my period decides to make a dramatic appearance (fingers crossed it doesn’t!). I’m really excited for my 2-month post-op appointment at the obesity center. I’ve been taking pictures of all my meals, and I’m looking forward to getting some feedback on my food choices and progress. Thanks for reading, and let’s keep pushing forward! 😊

    Struggling 😔

Haha, your mom sounds amazing! I can just imagine her with Dr. Now, keeping everyone in check with those tough-love one-liners! 😂 I totally agree though, it's great to have people in your life who tell it like it is and push you to be your best. But honestly, I could NEVER handle that kind of talk! 😅 If someone told me to "get my ass in gear," I’d probably do the exact opposite just out of pure rebellion. I'm still like a kid—tell me to do something, and I'm suddenly in the mood to do everything BUT that. 😂 Kudos to you for handling it like a boss and running/walking those 5 miles! You’re seriously crushing it! 👏

Good morning, good night for me teehee! First off, I totally get how frustrating this can be. It’s tough when you’re doing everything right and the scale isn’t moving as fast as you’d like. But trust me, this is completely normal after surgery. Our bodies go through phases of quick weight loss, then slow down a bit to adjust. You’re putting in so much effort—walking extra hours, doing yoga, eating super clean—and that’s amazing. Even though 1.5 to 2 pounds a week might feel slow right now, it's still progress, and it’s the kind that sticks! Remember, slow and steady weight loss is healthier and more sustainable in the long run. Also, don’t forget that with all the extra exercise, you’re probably building muscle, and that can make the scale misleading. Plus, little things like water retention or digestion can hide the weight loss for a bit, but that doesn’t mean your hard work isn’t paying off. As for carbs, since you’re following what the nurse suggested, I wouldn’t stress too much about changing it just yet. Carbs are important for fueling your body, especially with all the activity you’re doing. But if you're really worried, it never hurts to check in with your provider to make sure you're on the right track. You’ve come so far, and I know it feels like it’s slowing down, but your body is still adjusting, and this is just a phase. You’re doing all the right things, so trust the process and focus on how great you’re feeling. You’ve got this!

Your weight loss journey is so inspiring! I can't even imagine myself being skinny right now—it feels like every time I look in the mirror, I still see the same person or even feel bigger sometimes. But hearing your experience gives me hope. I can't wait to fast forward to six months post-op and see where I’ll be. I know it’s a long process, but stories like yours make it feel possible!

I totally get what you're saying! I realize that the portions are getting bigger, but I'm just so scared of messing it up. I definitely need to see someone about these thoughts because it's really overwhelming at times. I actually have an appointment in mid-October with the obesity center and dietitian, and then again in December with the surgical team for my 3-month post-op checkup. I’m excited to talk to them about these fears and what expectations I should have around portion sizes and everything else. To help stay on track, I've been taking daily pictures of my meals and sending them to my sister for her to review at the end of the day. She even rates them, which has been fun and keeps me mindful! Everyone around me keeps saying that I'm barely eating enough, but to me, it feels like I'm eating a lot. It’s such a mentally exhausting situation! Also, I was never really into sweets before either. My thing was more about carby foods like rice and pasta, so that's why I’m not struggling with sugar cravings now, which helps a lot.

That’s awesome! You handled the situation really well by planning ahead, and it’s great that you were able to avoid falling into old habits. Having shakes ready in a cooler sounds like a perfect strategy for unpredictable days like car shopping. I totally get what you mean about protein bars not being as filling—shakes tend to keep me more satisfied too. I might start keeping a couple of shakes on hand for those last-minute plans as well. It’s definitely all about being prepared after WLS! Good luck with the car shopping next weekend, and hope it goes smoothly! My weekend went really well too! We spent one day at my mother-in-law’s and the second day at my mom’s, so I got to enjoy home-cooked meals. I focused on moderation and protein, with dishes like chicken soup, vegetables, a bit of rice, and fruit for dessert. The food was healthy and clean, and I’m proud of sticking to my goal of avoiding sugar—even in small amounts. However, I had a bit of a freak-out moment when I managed to eat two chicken thighs in one sitting. I immediately thought I had overeaten and almost broke down. I realized I really need to work on my mindset, as it made me want to starve myself as a form of punishment. But in reality, I didn’t eat much at all! My husband was right there, reminding me that I was being unreasonable for thinking I overate. I think it’s time I speak to a professional about this lingering guilt because it’s something I need to overcome.

    Overwhelmed by Worry

Thank you all so much for your support and sharing your personal experiences! I really appreciate the encouragement and advice—it’s made me realize that I need to focus more on the mental aspect of this journey. You’re right that comparing myself to others is only holding me back, and I need to trust the process and be kinder to myself. I’ve decided to work on my mindset and might look into getting an app to connect with a counselor to discuss these feelings more deeply. I know that staying mentally strong is just as important as the physical changes, and I’m committed to working on both. Thank you again for the reassurance and motivation—it means a lot to me! 💜

    Overwhelmed by Worry

Thank you so much for sharing your journey—it’s really encouraging to see how far you’ve come! Your progress is amazing, and it’s a great reminder that the weight loss isn’t linear but still consistent over time. I definitely need to shift my mindset and focus more on my own path, like you said. I love that you're fitting into jeans from when you were 22—that’s such a huge win! Hearing how your weight loss has unfolded over the months gives me hope, especially knowing that you’re still losing at 7+ months post-op. I’ll try to keep that long-term perspective in mind, and stop stressing about how fast or slow the weight is coming off right now. Thanks again for the advice and inspiration! I’m feeling much more positive about my journey now.

    Overwhelmed by Worry

Thank you so much for this perspective! You're absolutely right—losing almost 4 pounds a week is something I’ve never been able to achieve on any diet before, so I should really appreciate that. It’s so easy to get caught up in the numbers, but you’ve reminded me that the mental work is just as important as the physical. I need to let go of the comparisons and focus on my own journey. I'm definitely guilty of stepping on the scale too often, so I’ll try to step back from that. Also, hearing that the gym has made you feel so good is really encouraging! I’m excited to start building a routine and hopefully experience that same boost in energy and mood. Thanks again for the advice and for helping me keep things in perspective. I really appreciate it!

    Overwhelmed by Worry

Thank you for your message! It’s really reassuring to hear that 10 kg in six weeks is within the normal range, especially from someone who’s been through it and had such amazing results like you. I also appreciate you pointing out that a lot of things are beyond my control, and I need to focus on what I can control. It’s so easy to fall into the comparison trap, but you’re right—I need to stop doing that and just keep going. Your story is super inspiring, and I’ll hold onto it whenever I feel doubtful. I’m definitely motivated to stay consistent with my eating and gym routine now. Thanks again for sharing your experience and for the tough love! 😊

Thank you so much for that reminder! You’re right; it’s still early, and my body is adjusting. I need to remember that this is a marathon, not a sprint. Your words really helped me shift my perspective. I’m definitely going to try to focus on the positives and celebrate the progress I’ve made so far, no matter how slow it might feel sometimes. Thank you for the encouragement—it means a lot!

    hunger???

I'm 1 month poat op and to be honest I get hungry the most is before bed. Like I literally go to sleep hungry. Not sure if it is really hunger and I don't know if I am eating enough. My dietician recommended 8 meals a day and I reach around 6 so perhaps I must add a final snack before bed like some Greek yogurt or a protein bar hmm.. I am just worri3d about calories

Yesss I think that's why my dietician told me to eat so my body doesn't go into starvation mode and reserves everything I eat. So now I try to eat 8 small meals a day! I'm failing but I'm trying haha! I'm actually enjoying eating often makes me feel naughty
