    Just Need to Vent

I have a very nice Doctor's office. I only had to pay the $128 program fee and 20% of any co-pay prior to surgery. The nurse, doctor and nutrionist are all very nice. I would most definately put her in her place. As long as you are doing some activity at least 30 minutes per day that is all you should need. Not everyone can afford a gym, my doctor says any activity, walking or swimming for 30 minutes along with a high protein, low fat and low carb diet are all that is needed to lose weight with the band. So don't let them bother you, and if possible don't go back to see her, just go for fills when needed. Good luck and hang in there!!

    Wtf?

I am 10 days post op and am still on a liquid diet, will go to pureed foods Monday or Tuesday. I am friggin hungry!! I had a cracker today, chewed it until it was liquified, and some milk. Don't think that I did any damage, but at least it stopped my tummy from growling so much!

    rash around incision sites??

I have a rash on my upper torso too - 8 days post op. But mine is spreading to my neck and face as well. I have to go to my GP today to see what can be done. My surgeon has no idea what it is from.

    Can't drink the whole thing!!!!

I understand, I am 1 week post op and had to go into the hospital and get 4 liters of fluid by IV because I got dehydrated. I can't seem to drink the 1 1/2 to 2 liters of fluid a day they require. I sip on something for 3 hours so I barely get 12 ounces a day in. I am trying to increase it but it is taking forever. I have also developed a rash all over that itches horribly. I go to my GP today to see what can be done for that. Not having a good time post op. Only good news is that I lost 14.8 lbs since surgery!

    Pumpkin Smashers...getting to know you!!

My surgery date is Oct. 7th! 6 days to go. I have been on the liquid diet since 9/23 and am doing ok, have bouts of hunger, but try to ignore it. I am 46, have type II diabetes, sleep apnea, GERD, and a load of physical aches and pains that I am hoping to resolve with this surgery. My goal is to be healthy, and off medication and able to get down on the floor to play with my grandson and still be able to get back up! I have a 26 year old son and a 17 year old son who are active with camping and fishing and I would love to be able to do things with them for many years to come. I am anxious to start my journey and be a better me .

    overnight stay or not

Mine will be done as "out-patient". In and out within 23 hours. So I won't be charged for an overnight stay as I am in and out within 24 hours.

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

I take the broth off of the soup and give the rest to my dog! I make sure that I get the 30g of protein in, either with the shakes or K2O protein water. I also heat up tomato juice and add pepper for taste, which helps! I have 5 days of liquid diet left until surgery then another 2 weeks of liquids. I don't think I'll mind the liquids so much after surgery!

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

I am scheduled to be banded Oct 7th. I have been on my 2 weeks liquid diet for exactly one week now! I have lost 12 pounds just switching from solids to liquids! I am missing the whole eating solids though, but only have one week til surgery then I don't think I'll mind the liquids so much. Good luck to everyone!

    Considering Lap Band

Most insurance companies require that you be on a "physician assisted diet" for at least six consecutive months in the last 3 years. You don't have to show a weight loss, just that you have tried with your physician to lose weight. Then you go through clearance with cardiology, pulmonology and gastrology. I also had to go through 2 sleep studies to determine if I had sleep apnea, and since I did what the severity was. I started the process in January 2008 and am scheduled for surgery on October 7th. I am on my 4th day of a two week liquid diet prior to surgery, which most times is ok, but get really hungry so have to distract yourself from it
