    Question on Slipped Band

I had an unfill after similar symptoms in May, went approx 5wks with no fill to let things rest, had a repeat xray which indicated the band looked good. In May, my symptoms were reflux and pain in substernal and upper back. I was under a lot of stress which may have contributed to the problem. The xray in May showed a slight shift in the band, ? was it truly a slipped band, I don't know but they took the fill out and it relieved all my symptoms immediately. I am up to 4.5cc now in a 10cc band and feel I could use just a bit more, the MD is approaching very cautiously, which is fine. I wish you luck.

    Question on Slipped Band

All very interesting posts. I've had a lot of problems with the band being to tight, excacerbated at times of stress. I find if I am stressed, everything tightens up. In May I went in to have some fluid removed as I was having a lot of difficulty getting anything but mush down, an xray was done and indicated a slight shift in the band. Completely unfilled to let things rest, will be xrayed again this week and possibly refilled. I've had many adjustments in 4mo time and will choose to go at it quite slowly from now on. I have discovered I need to be on the lower side for fills and be happy with it. I've been a month without fill and no wgt gain, thank goodness, so........ I can do it. Interested if anyone else has had similar problems.
  7. After my fill I am up to 7cc and several days later have experienced what its like to stick. It happens in the morning when I attempt to eat breakfast. I tried a soft egg and a piece of well toasted wheat bread, wow, it stuck and what a lousy feeling. The rest of the day I am ok, well atleast when I eat lunch and dinner. I had heard the band may be tighter in the morning, you aren't kidding. I will stick to liquids and yogurt for a while. What is sliming?

  8. Hi,

thanks for the post. I have been banded since Sept 2 and I have found that it really does take a week or so to really start feeling your fill, well at least for me it does. In fact my last fill I got put me up to 7.5 and a couple of weeks later I am finding that it is a bit too tight and I am having a hard time keeping anything down so I am going in today to have some fluid taken out. I just need a little adjusting but I am finally losing some real weight and I don't want to lose that so I'll talk to my nurse when I get there to figure out how much to take out. I really hate sliming and it is just not worth it to not be able to eat solids. I hope you have hit your sweet spot and keep in touch.... Theresa

    Sweet Spot

Interesting, glad to hear you are feeling good but some restriction as well. I had 5.5cc in after surgery, then 6.5 after first fill but still hungry between meals. Had second fill today and am up to 7.0cc. I hope this will be better as the in between hungers are a bit distracting to say the least. I did not know it takes a week to feel the restriction set in, who told you that or is it from personal experience? Thanks and good luck.

    Flatulence

Thanx long2bfree, I hope your right, these problems are making it difficult to get thru the work day, I end up uncomfortable almost daily. My first fill is scheduled for Oct 22.

    Flatulence

No one prepared me for how much gas I would have post band. I also discovered I am lactose intolerant and guess what, the full liquid diet is full of lactose, yikes! My GI system feels completely out of whack, gas, diarrhea at times and hunger pains when I least expect them. I wish this would have been brought up in the preband meetings, I did inform the leader it wouldn't be a bad idea to inform others of these side effects. Banded 09/11/08.
