Honest, just knowing that the end is in sight will help you keep focused. It did for me. Even if it's 6 months away, you still know mow that it's so much closer than before. And you have down really well and you can do this!

Report Your WINS ..What is your today's win??🥇

I finally got my mobile phone company to sort out my problem! But also, for two days in a row, I woke up feeling normal (7 days post-op) with no pain and ready to do things. (Like do battle with O2)

    Slightly Dizzy = Hunger?

Thanks for the tip. I just had some water and my usual medications and had a random dizzy spell when I turned my head. I think I might try and add some electrolyte powder and try again in a few miutes

    October 2024 Surgery Buddies

No it just felt like I was OK again because i satsified my body's need for food. It's weird. It seems like I don't actually know what hunger feels like. I just used to assume I was hungry because I wanted to eat. Now, I don't want to eat and don't know what it feels like to be hungry.

    October 2024 Surgery Buddies

Today I woke up feeling "normal". Almost how I felt pre-op. No pain, no stiffness. So I decided to go for a walk. It's now so weird to just have normal hip pain (overdid the walk for sure). I actually felt hungry as well. But this feeling soon ended after a few teaspoons of soup.
  6. I'm finally on the other side of the surgery! I'm abou 10 hours post-op! I've never been so thirsty in my entire life, but otherwise I'm doing OK. I'm in some pain when I try to stand op and I sipped water too fast so that cause some pain, but I don't have any regrets! This is the beginning! I'm so ready!

    Finally on the other side!

Oh that makes sense. That wound has the most bruising. I think it might just look worse because of the purple suture glue that is still on there.

    Finally on the other side!

I know something bruising after surgery is normal, but is it normal that only one of my incisions has bruising and is really tender and feels more sunken in than the other incisions? I'm assuming that's the "main one" and that's where my stomach is, but it doesn't seem to be getting an better.

    Almost time...

I'm feeling better for the most part. I took a 45 minute walk today, i was able to eat twice today and I'm not feeling so tired. Only have a few pain issues where it hurts when I cough, and a pretty gnarly bruise where my stomach is
  11. Well done! Thats great!

    Finally on the other side!

I'm taking lactulose which is supposed to be a softener and laxative at the some time. It works better when hydrated so I'm trying to just drink water today.

    Almost time...

Hello! I had a gastric sleeve on Monday. So I'm still 4 days post-op! Welcome to the group!

    Finally on the other side!

My stomach is making a lot of noises so I know something is happening in there. I've been working on just drinking water with the occasional herbal tea as well. (All cleared by my surgeon to drink herbal tea) and based on my urine, I'm not dehydrated anymore, but I keep working to make sure I stay that way. I love stickers so adding stickers to my water bottle also.males it more fun to drink.

    Finally on the other side!

I',m waiting for the laxatives to kick in now. At first I wondered what kind ifnsadistbwouldmtellmsoleone to take a laxative at Bedtime, but now I get that it's nit an immediate thing. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day. My surgeon did say if I haven't had a movement by then, call them.
  17. I need to wear my watch on the 4th hole instead of the 3rd hole now! Not bad for 3 days post op!

That's great to hear! I took a 45 minute walk today, but my belly dragging made it uncomfortable so I think I need a tighter t shirt! New NSV today! My watch fits in the 4th hole instead of the third hole! The little things get me through lately.

    Finally on the other side!

Ohhh! Thanks for the tip! I'm trying to avoid pain meds, not because I want to be a martyr or a hero, it's just that the pain medications make for a very unpleasant experience. They sent me home woth liquid paracetamol, liquid ibuprofen and dihydrocodeine. But I'm not sure when I'm supposed out to take which. And liquid meds make me lose the will to live if they taste awful.

    Finally on the other side!

I also haven't stepped in the scale since I got out of surgery. For the first time in 3 months, I don't really care about number on the scale, I just want to get through the painful parts of the recovery and then check the numbers.

    Finally on the other side!

I've been burping and farting so I think the gas isn't trapped athough I decided to take the lactulose now to try and nip the constipation in the bud now. The most "pleasant" meds that I take have been the lactulose and the blood thinning subcutaneous injections. Everything else has made me feel awful or tasted bad and made me want to sip water which I can't do right after the meds. My favourite Vieve Protein Water still tastes good to me so I'm trying to switch between sips of that and regular water too. Since the multivitamin made me throw up, my team said I can try a two a day chewable instead and see if that helps, but like everyone else said, just prioritise fluids and protein if possible.

    Finally on the other side!

I don't have a spirometer thing but I have been getting up in between naps. Mostly to pee. I think I will have to start taking a laxative soon too.
