I had mine fixed in office. My surgeon gave me local anesthesia, cut open along the same original incision, flipped the port back over and stitched it back up. Its a very simple procedure.

Fixing the port is a very simple procedure. It is done under local anesthesia, and your doctor may even be able to do it for you in the office.

Protein first, then if I'm still hungry whole grain carbs. Fish, chicken, meat, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs all good protein choices. oatmeal, brown rice, sweet potato, whole grain bread, all good carbs

Join a support group if you need, hang out here on LBT often. Do whatever it takes to keep you motivated. If you have issues with emotional eating, see someone for that. Go to the gym. Exercise will make you feel great. Track your daily food intake with a site like thedailyplate.com Remember that normal weight loss with the band is one or two pounds a week. If you expect to lose more you will disappoint yourself.

Need a pick me up...
Mariasha replied to newstacy09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery three months ago. Down 75 pounds. In the gym 5 days a week. The lowest weight I've been in over 10 years. -
Everything is ok in moderation. The ammount of meat you are able to eat with the band should not be a problem. Just try and get leaner cuts of meat instead of the fatty ones. You can also try chicken and tofu.

I think you need to look around and find yourself a gym that better fits your needs.

1st appointment tomorrow! What can I expect?
Mariasha replied to AKessler731's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Think of any questions or concerns that you have that you would like to discuss with your surgeon. Now is the time to do it. -
It's normal not to be losing now. Once you start getting the fills the weight will begin to come off. This period in time is called bandster hell. If you read through the forums you will see that most people go through it. It's when you have the band already but it's not really doing anything because you don't have the fills. Hang in there. It will pass. And the weight will come off.

Not keeping food or liquid down after surgery! Someone tell me it will be worth it!
Mariasha replied to Valerieee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stick to your surgeons guidelines and listen to his rules and you will be fine. I had my surgery three months ago and I haven't thrown up once. -
I was told that walking is no problem. Anything more rigorous than that you need to check with your surgeon.
-
You should expect to lose one to two pounds a week. Anything on top of that is an added bonus. Don't set unrealistic goals for yourself and then be disappointed. That said, it definitely is possible, but there are no guarantees.
-
DO call your doctor. Everyone is different and your surgeon will tell you what is best for you. I had to wait till my first fill which was 6 weeks post op. You need to give your body time to heal from the surgery. If you start exercise to early you run the risk of flipping your port. Is that something you want?

Newbee...considering the band
Mariasha replied to happygirl65's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey, its your life. Its worth the $3600. I don't have insurance so I was a self pay. It cost me over $15,000 which I am still paying off. But I don't regret it for a second. Also, you will save a ton of money on food. -
So excited about my nice new car but the seat belt doesnt quite fit :(
Mariasha replied to Moo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It will soon. don't let this get you down. -
Check with your surgeon before you begin any exercise. You need to give your body time to heal, otherwise you risk flipping your port.
-
Everyone is different. That's why you have an adjustable band inside you. If there was some magic number they could fill you up to and you would have perfect restriction, they would do that for everyone.

Newbee...considering the band

A lot of lap band surgeons have an information session for the public periodically where they will provide you with all the information you need. I don't know where you live, but its worth looking in to. -
I'll second that!

Need some advice, inspiration.. anything!
Mariasha replied to catincanada's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Plenty of people manage to lose more than that with the band. The band is a tool and will work as well as you put it too work. I am the same age as you, started off at the same weight as you, and had my surgery three months ago. I have already lost 70 pounds and plan to continue losing a lot more. I am in the gym every day and feel fantastic! Band is the way to go. Most minimally invasive procedure with the least risk of complication. Good luck! -
