    Post Surgery Weight Gain

Thanks for the perspective, Susan. I need to remember your smart words about this stage. I was so excited to lose 17 lbs. pre-op to see the scale go up is a bummer (especially when there wasn't a reason...like pizza). That's Sascha -- my little love. :-)
  4. Has anyone else experienced weight gain right after the surgery? I was banded on 11/20 and in just a few days I've gained 6 pounds back from what I lost pre-op. And yes, I've been sticking to the post-op diet of just liquids and calories under 1,000/day.

    B4 & After Banding

I have the mean Doctor - LOL. 2 weeks pre-op is all liquid, high Protein. No more than 30 carbs per day and 600-800 calories per day. Which I am in the middle of right now. It isn't horrible. I'm not hungry. I just crave nutritional good for me food (no junk food cravings). Avoiding temptation is key -- at the office where I can't control the environment it is tough. Post-surgery is all liquid for two weeks. Carb restriction is lifted, but target 90 grams of protein per day and 800-1000 calories. Weeks 3-4 post surgery is just mushies. Weeks 5 & 6 - gradually bring back "normal" food.
  6. I've tried Adkins, EAS and unjury. Unjury is the best by far. Try it with Hood milk (a diluted version that has fewer calories/carbs and more Protein than regular skim). Hood comes in chocolate which only adds 45 calories and 1 extra gram of carbs. With the chocolate Unjury it is AWESOME! I also bought banana and cocunut flavoring. Just a little drop and it is yummy.

    Sleep Apnea

I couldn't be more annoyed. Four months ago I took the written exam for possibly having sleep apnea (along with the myriad of other tests). Long story short -- I asked twice if I was "OK" with the apnea thing. Since I had heard about every other test and nothing on this. The office assistant was too lazy to look and said "If you haven't heard, then you're good.". Guess what!?! Today they think I have sleep apnea and I need to do a sleep over for more analysis. My surgery is next week!!!! Do the sleep apnea results postpone surgergy or just change what the anesthesiologist does????
  8. My date is November 20th. Just started the liquid phase today. Like everyone who has written, the emotions are a roller coaster. I was really surprised at being "sad" - but I guess losing a lifelong coping mechanism is bound to surface emotions.
