  1. Congrats on your great success! And I love the video.
  2. You are talking like six weeks? I think you will be fine. Of course everyone is different, but I could have gone the week after surgery.

I had my band removed and was sleeved on July 9. I don't miss that band at all and I love my sleeve. Congrats!

Just Wanted To Let You Know......

I pray that your family may find peace and be comforted with wonderful memories.
  6. I never had reflux with the band but my doc now has me on a drug for it post-sleeve. I think it is fairly likely you would experience it, but it is easily controlled.
  7. Congrats! You are gonna do splendidly.

Last Weigh In Tomorrow And Layed Off Today:(

Hi ValdostaGa, I am sorry that you wee laid off. I pray that you will land in something good soon. I hope you have immediately applied for unemployment compensation. I know that likely is far less than you normally earn, but it is something. Regarding the mileage reimbursement: Did you submit the expenses? If you have already accrued the expenses, they would still need to reimburse you.

    1 Week To Go Nerves

I also had very little pain. In fact, it was so minor that I had to confirm with the nurse that the doctor actually did the surgery and didn't just close me back up after going in.
  18. I had surgery with Dr. Almanza on July 9 and totally agree. And if I go for plastics, I definitely will be going there.
  19. Wow! OK, that didn't help. I'm sorry you don't see the problems with your comments. That says a lot. Good luck with your search. I've been sleeved, am happy with the doctor I chose and am losing weight.

    Foster Children

Like a couple of other people, I was back to normal -- and actually had more energy than usual -- a week after surgery. I am now 10 days out and feel great. I went back to work Tuesday and have been very active every since the surgery. But as people noted, your experience might be different.
  21. OK, this is always a controversial topic, so I am going to say this as gingerly as possible. You definitely should make the decision that is best for you, but it would be helpful if you did not make disparaging remarks about the doctors whom you do not prefer. I and several other people have used one or the other of the doctors whom you subtly critique. Beyond that, most of us are happy with our experience. I find your comments a bit obnoxious. That said, good luck with making your decision.
  22. I am sorry you are having this experience, though. I do think the surgeons there would provide follow-up care if needed. There were a couple of people there on the day I was sleeved receiving follow-up care. Also, I had a problem with a site, but it was not an infection. I had no problem having my doctor here provide care. Maybe you should try another US physician.
  23. I was sleeved there on July 9. I have no infected sites.

    Over Eating

I do think this is common. I think it is partly about trying to have foods you are worried you will never have again and partly about turning to food (again) as a coping mechanism to deal with the very reasonable fears and concerns about the surgery. Before I started my pre-op diet, I found myself eating things even I would have found ridiculous beforehand -- like a dinner of hot dogs and french fries. Or corn dogs. The good thing is the pre-op diet forced me back into line and since surgery, the restrictive diet (at the start) has obviously made all of that stuff impossible. But I also don't crave it any more. I think tastes do change, and the forced weeks of healthier eating also gives you such a break from the old unhealthy stuff that you get out of the habit of eating it.
