Hi RadioGirl: I am feeling the same way. My band is unfilled and I don't feel any restriction at all. I had my surgery on 12/9 and am eating mushy foods. Last night I put some roast beef and broth in the blender and made a puree. It went down fine and no issues last night or today. I am hoping I am not doing anything wrong. Guess my Dr will tell me. I am going to call tomorrow and see if he wants to see me one of my "pokey" sites looks like it might be infected. Not sure. Been using Hydrogin peroxide (sp). Well good luck to both of us. I will let you know if I hear anything else.

Medications that can't be crushed; how do they go through the Band?
Pam92 replied to mondk's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sooooo... First is your coffee decaf? I really miss my coffee. (2nd) How soon could you start drinking it? (3) I have my 2nd followup appointment 3 weeks after my surgery. Do you think I will get my first fill then? It will be 4 weeks then. (4) Why does coffee make your band less tight? Is that enough questions? I am sorry if they seem dumb, but I would love to be able to just take my capsules and pills because you're right it taste TERRIBLE!! :smile2::wink2: -
Hey thanks for the welcome! You all are great. No one has made me feel more welcome that you guys! I decorated our tree, went shopping for groceries, cleaned the house some, sent my daughter off to play out with her band (She is the drummer and is 37 yrs old). Her husband is the lead guitar and backup singer. Hope your weekend goes well.

Pam92 replied to librarychick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say just keep sipping and walk around. Get your mind off of food, which I know is difficult. Good luck to you. -

Medications that can't be crushed; how do they go through the Band?
Pam92 replied to mondk's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am looking forward to the responses to your questions. I also am on a TON of meds for bipolar and diabetes and high blood pressure, cholesterol etc. I cannot crush or open capsules on several of them. I have been opening some capsules because I am afraid of not taking them. Some of the very small tablets I have started trying to swallow and so far haven't had any problems (keep your fingers crossed for me). Wish us luck that someone answers. Maybe one of the DOCs will answer. Have you asked your Psy. about the meds? Good Luck. :smile2: -
Food addict/ post op cheating...
Pam92 replied to OreinaO's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
:smile2::scared2:Boy this thread was written for me! ! ! I am having trouble with staying on the wagon of only liquids and mussy foods also. Reading what everyone has written has been very inspiring. I also feel no restriction on my band which was put in place on 12/9/09. I wasn't sure where I should feel the sensation of being full. It helped to read that it should be in my chest. I was expecting it in my belly. I have felt somethink in my chest between my breast. Would that be it? I want to thank everyone who wrote to this thread and I look forward to answers to my questions. God Bless ya ALL!:wink2: -
Tracy, consider me your "ride along buddy".LOL Did you have your band emptyed when you got so close to goal? I am very proud of you for quitting smoking. I know how hard that is. You are very brave. You have gone through the weight loss thing before and you know you can do it and what it takes, so I am sure you will. If you need to talk (write) Let me know I will send you my email address so we can chat. But we can chat here also. I was banded on 12/9/09 and am doing okay. I haven't been sick and haven't had much pain. One of my incision sites looks like it might be getting infected so I will call my Dr on Monday. Oh by the way, I am from Sacramento California. I have been married for 17 years to a pretty great guy. I have 1 daughter and 1 stepdaughter who has given us 3 grandchildren. My husband and I got married on February 29th. (We thought it would be fun and it was) Well I will wait to hear from you. Keep up the faith and hard work. Remember you have fellow bandsters to keep you company!!! :wink2::wub:

I need some help. I have set up two times a tickler for my posts here. I don't know how to save it. I don't know how to "Bookmark" it and I don't know how to add it to my signature ? I didn't even know I had a signature line. I have been trying to figure this out and I guess I am hopeless. :smile2: I would really appreciate some help. If you want to email me you can send it to pksichel1@netzero.com. Thanks for the help. Hope to hear soon.

Silly Surgery Question
Pam92 replied to Yvette1026's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So how did it go? Did you come home the same day or stay overnight. I was an in and out, but was kept over night. Remember to rest, walk around the house for gas pains and take your meds on schedule. It helps prevent the pains or makes it more manageagable. Good luck and God bless.... -
Well lets see if this worked?? Thank you so much for replying you were the only one.

Pam92 replied to BrentinLA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Boy can I relate to you LOL:blink: My husband says that he likes the "Cushion for the pushin". He said he doesn't want me to get below 200. I said he wishes. I want to get to 150. He is still being supportive, but he lets me know for sure that he likes the way I am and if I don't lose any more weight (I have lost 41 lbs) it is okay. What do you think? -
My surgeon was Dr. Steven Patching who has an office off of Howe Avenue. He is wonderful and I have had a great experience so far with him. His office staff is friendly and helpful whenever you call. He has a great bedside manner, is very easy to talk with and makes you feel like you are the only patient he has. He is always happy to answer any questions and has made the whole process of being banded so much easier than I ever expected. He is a great motivator. He has always been available to me when I have needed him. It is people before the surgery or anything. He is on your side! I would highly recommend him to anyone considering this surgery.

I had my surgery on the 9th of Dec. It went pretty good. My liver was bigger because of my obesity. But it was done anyway. I have not had any gas pains, been eating jello and had some protein shake today. Wasn't very tasty. I will have to get some milk and try mixing with it. I am sore and it is hard to get up and down, but it is just sore not painful. I am surprised!:w00t: I wish all the ones who have had surgery and the ones who are scheduled the best of luck!

Pam92 replied to Irishbookworm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
 Me too !! I am ready. My surgery will be at 10 am and I should come home tomorrow. I am a little nervous, but I think it will be fine. I will be thinking of you and wish you the best of all of it. We are on our trip now....Let's enjoy it!!! Pam92 -
 Well my surgery has been moved from 11 am tomorrow to 7:30 am! I have to be at the hospital by 5 am (UGH!!!:w00t:) My daughter is taking me and I should be home by 3 or so the same day. I am getting pretty jittery and I am on Clear liquids to day and tomorrow and for the week after. I sure hope I do okay with the diet. I have been so far. My starting weight was 276 and I have lost 38 pounds due to Jenny Craig. I expect to continue using Jenny after I can start eating regular food. Well wish me luck and say a prayer for me!! Glad you all are here. Pam92:thumbup:

I have been told that you can pretty well eat what you want after a while on the band, but that sounds like what you need to avoid. Until you are mentally ready to take the steps away from food, I am sorry but my opinion will be that you will be unsuccessful in the band department. You may want to consider the full bariatric surgery. But I think you have some issues you need to get straight in your mind before you take any more steps in that directions. Go to a doctor and discuss your food issues and get a hold on it. :wow::unsure:Good luck to you and I will be praying for you.:woot::thumbup:

PLEaSE SOMEONE TELL ME ??????
Pam92 replied to NouraShuman's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think you will do fine. I am 5'3" and started out at 276. I have lost 40 lbs even before surgery! My surgery is scheduled for this Wednesday. Hopefully by using the band, staying on a diet plan (Jenny Craig) and exercise I will keep my stomach flappy skin to a minimum. I really cannot afford plastic surgery or really want it so I am really trying exercise. I wish you the best of luck and don't give up on yourself!! Pam92:wink: -
Congratulations ! ! ! That is really great. My surgery is next Wednesday. I will let you know how it goes. But don't second guess your decision. As long as it is the best plan for you that is all that matters. Again..Congratulations. Pam92
