I had my surgery on 12/9. I am concerned also about my lap band. I feel no difference in my ability to eat. I am to get my first fill next week and I hope it starts controling how big my opening will be and I will able to get some help on how much I can eat. I agree with everyone that it sounds like your band is too tight. Be sure to check out the docs in your area and make an informed decision. Good Luck. :smile2:

I had my surgery on 12/9 and I can eat with no restriction ! I am also not getting my first fill until 2/3. I don't understand how my stomach can be the same size after surgery as it was before. It seems putting the band on would make it smaller. So I too am filling discouraged. I have lost about 8 - 10 pounds since my surgery, I thought it would be more. I heal alot more slowly because I a diabetic, which is another disapointment, no change in my diabetes yet. What should I do to make this work better???

I found that when I went to the lap band chat rooms people were talking about everything but lap bands. I needed to talk about fills, getting the right foods, when to see my doctor, not who was leaving whom, etc.

From your lips (Fingers) to my ears. I am very frustrated. I was banded on Dec9. Since my surgery I am down around 10 pounds. Last time I went to the Dr. I has only lost 1 pound!! I asked him if he was going to do a fill and he said they don't do them that fast. I have to wait 3 weeks and go to the hospital and get the fill. (They have to get approval from my insurance) I guess so they can make sure everything is where it should be and the band with more fluid in it is doing was it is suppose to. I just hope it gives me some restriction. Right now I can eat what ever I want and it is getting me in trouble. Thanks for writing and please keep us informed how you are doing...you certainly helped me to know that someone out there understands what it is like. Good luck.

What does a personal trainer do? Make you work longer? Work harder. Do you have to pay for a trainer? Please give me some input. I go to 24 hour fitness, but I trust you guys more. You aren't trying to sell me something. Know what I mean?? -

Pam92 replied to MsFab1988's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

What are the "stats" for Atkins? What is the cost? How many gr of sugar, carbs, and protein? I am a diabetic so I have to be careful with premixed drinks. Glad you found something that works for you. Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Treadmill VS Elliptical
Pam92 replied to bandster_1007's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
How is the eliptical on your knees. I have weak knees and have been afraid to try the eliptical. Is it hard to keep balanced? Is it like walking or more like climing stairs? I have a great deal of trouble climing stairs. Happy New Year!! -
My protein powder is very good. I received it from my Dr's Nutritionist (sp). It is Bariatric Advantage Meal Replacement. It has 150 calories, 27 gr of protein. I mix with ice and milk in blender it makes a "slushy" kind of drink and I mix with yogurt and it taste like cool whip (smooth). Try these. Hope you like them. Happy New Year !!!

Never heard of a "pain port". Has anyone else??

Keep coming back and read everything. That is what I have done and I have learned alot. Read all the different sites. I usually go to "new posts" and go from there. The Chat room is good also if you have any questions. Watch out though sometimes the people can get grumpy in there. Good luck to you and like I said keep coming back and read everything!

My protein is vanilla flavored. I mix it with greek yogurt. It taste like cool whip! It is very good. Give it a try. If your protein is unflavored try adding vanilla flavoring with the protein and yogurt. Let me know what you think. Pam and Good luck.

How often do you vomit/PB?
Pam92 replied to mandi78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Okay I am confused as to some terminology... 1. What is the "sweet spot" and how will I know when I get there? 2. How can you vomit so much and still not lose weight? 3. What is "pb"? Is it a good thing or a bad thing? 4. My Dr. said if I vomit even one time I am to call his office right away or go to the emergency room, don't all Dr want this? I was told my goal was to never vomit again..EVER. Can anyone help unconfuse me???? Thanks. -
Hi.... Just wanted to add Jenny Craig to the pot for weight loss assistance. I joined Jenny on Aug 1st and lost 40 pounds by the end of November. When I can have reg food I will be purchasing enough food for 1 lunch or dinner per day. I will be eating 1/2 of it at lunch time and 1/2 at dinner time. The cost should be greatly reduced. They are letting me come in for my weekly meetings and getting weighed and not buying food. Pretty great of them. Shows they are interested in me as a person not just as a customer with a check book! I greatly recommend the program and the people there. Happy New Year...Pam

I didn't do well today either. We had Prime Rib for dinner and rolls, salad, mash potatoes with green beans. We had cheese and crackers and salsa w/chips. We also had pumkin pie, apple pie and pecan pie. I had some of all of it. I certainly didn't eat as much as I would have pre banding, but certainly more than I should have at 3 weeks out of surgery. Like everyone said...tomorrow is another day. Don't know what I will weigh. I have my next Dr appt on 1/5 and hopefully my first fill. I seem to be able to eat when and what I want without feeling full at all. Please keep me in your prayers. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!!!!
