FYI....for all you bandsters who were banded in 2008 or 2009. I had an unfill in 10/12 and have been back 5 times for fills since. Each time I would feel restriction for about 48 hours or so and then nothing. Like I was not even banded. So, I finally ask to see the Doctor (as opposed to the nurses who usually do my fills). He looked at my chart, felt my port site and immediately said I had a defective port. He said there was a known defective mini-port that was produced in 2008/2009 and that he was sure that was my problem. Long story short, I am having it replaced next week so that my band can start working properly. I just wanted to let my fellow bandsters know in case anyone else is having a similar issue and you were banded during that time frame He said the defect always take place after having an unfill. It is good to know that I am not crazy and there is a fix for the problem. I was starting to wonder if it would ever work for me again.

Same issue here...I seem to be perfect as far as my fill level but I am having to sleep sitting up. I have reflux, mostly at night and am having to jump up to throw up sometimes. I have been very good about not eating or drinking too late but am still experiencing problems ;(

Dr. James Clay Wellborn - Calling all Dr. Wellborn's patients
amaack1 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Has anyone else out there been banded by Dr. Wellborn? I love him and his staff! They are the key in my success. They always listen and treat me like a person not just another patient. I was banded October 2008. Weighed 200 lbs. Down to 137 with a BMI of 26. YEAH! Best decision I ever made both choosing Dr Wellborn and getting the band! -

Update: I did get an unfill of .5 and it has made a world of difference. I have done pretty good so far knowing where I needed to be and so forth but my band can be trickey. This tool that we have is amazing! You just have to listen to your body. Hope this helps someone else in the same boat. -
Amen sista!

"they" say I have lost enough weight..give me a break!
amaack1 replied to di1138's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OMG! Thank you! I am so tired of "others" telling me I don't need to lose anymore weight. I have a goal people and I didn't go through all of this to stop 25 lbs from my goal! My doctor will let me know if there is a problem. Thanks for letting me rant! -

If I eat anything besides mashed potatoes, soup, chips or crackers, I PB. I am tired of not being able to get anything else down. I am scheduled for a fill tomorrow but think I need a slight unfill. I am chewing everything to mush but am pbing/throwing up about once a day. Anyone else think I need an unfill? -

Kind of worried...can anyone relate?
amaack1 replied to Coffi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got my first fill last week. 4.5 cc's in my 10 cc band. I did feel restriction for about 5 days (which my doctor said would happen). Now I don't feel that as much (because the swelling has gone down is the way he explained it). He said everyone is different but it normally takes about 3 fills to really tell the difference. I will have another fill next week. Right before Turkey day... thank goodness! I need all the help I can get! -
I just had my first fill today (4.5 cc's in 10cc band). My Dr. told me this would happen. He said I would have great restriction for about 3 days then it would subside. He does his first 3 fills two weeks apart for this reason. Hope this helps.
