hey guys. got a question. i am 2 wks post op. i quit smoking over a year ago and since then chewed a little nicorette or had a little dip from time to time. anyone had a bad experience doing this with the band? i know smoking sux but to come from 3 packs a day to a few pieces of nicorette or an occasional dip is a giant step for me. any bad experiences out there.

i was banded 3 days ago (10-16) after a 2 hr drive from mexacali and a 2 hr wait at the san diego airport i was informed the flight was cancelled. after another 3 hrs. waiting in another line to find out that there would be no more flights until the next day i was beginning to go a little past pissed. thet did however put me up in a nice hotel not far from the airport for a 9 oclock flight out the next morning. i only had enough liquids that i could eat for 1 more meal. soooooooooo i went to the dining room and ordered a bowl of seafood soup thinking i could only eat the liquid part. to my suprise i could eat it all with no problem. i later went to the store and got me a fifth of wine and to my suprise i was able to drink it with no problem. now im back home being a good boy and following the post op diet but i wonder if i have hurt or displaced the ban in any way. needless to say i will need a fill as soon as i can get one. i dont seem to have a problem eating or swallowing anything yet. have i hurt myself or am i just one of the lucky ones that can eat what i want when i want????? i know i could go right now to mushies if i chose too. please advise

Had my band procedure in mexico and am looking for a fill doctor in my area that will take mexico patients. Any Help!

im up for my first fill in a week. i have an empty 10 cc band and am wondering in general, how many cc's do they put in for the first fill. id rather not have to go back 4-5 times at 1 cc at a time. id rather them be a bit more aggressive than to nickel and dime me to death. i have to drive a long way for a fill and there 250 each. could add up fast.

quick question; generally speaking, how much fill would they put in an empty 10cc band on the first fill. just curious. i go for my first fill next week and have heard anything from 1-3 cc. id rather them be a bit more aggressive rather than nickel and dime me to death for 4 or 5 fills at 1 cc at A TIME.

got banded there 3 wks ago. everything is first class. dont worry about a thing. only thing i didnt like was the 2 hr ride from sd to mexacali. nina is very nice but dont expect to meet her. i was there for 3 days and never saw her. she works away from the office and only is there from time to time

hey guys..............can anyone tell me if chewing nicorette or having a small dip will hurt me. i know.....tobacco sux. i quit smoking a yr. ago and have since done a little dip or chewed nicorette gum from time to time. i am 2 wks post op and sure would like to have a little dip or piece of nicorette about now.

thanks for that input. ive had 1 dip and a couple of nicorettes, im just wondering about the long term affects. ive heard a lot about errosion etc. and no one seems to know what causes it. i guess the bottom line is that i will have to aspire to be like jack and defeat all my deamons

wouldnt a bowl of tomato soup make the stomach contract and expand also? why would the expansion and contraction of tomato soup and wine be any worse than water and jello?

hey guys quick question. i go to dr aceves oct 16 for my surgury. in his pre op diet he simply told me to go on a low carb diet 7 days before the procedure. this seems so easy compared to the pre op (liquid diets etc.)diet nightmare stories i read about on these forums. could it be that since my bmi is only 34 it is not as demanding. please advise

i am interested in traveling ti mexico for the lap band but am concerned about flying home to the east coast the day after surgury. any advisei

would you be concerned at all about getting the surgury done in mexico and having to fly back to the east coast the next day?
