Guess what I have Gall Stone... dangit!!!!! I am going to have surgery on june 30th and then lap band on July 25.. The mistery pain has been answered.....
-
I had bcbs in dec when I first checked into the band and it was writen out of my policy too the only way you can get it covered (unless you change jobs) is fight with Hr. One man who worked with my hubby and had it written out of his policy, gave countless reports, dr nots, ectectect. This man has had three heart attacks and one bypass. They paid for all thoses surgeries but would not pay for him to have the lap band... After a year of fighting during open enrollment the Company changed the policy.. It was a long fight but he got the surgery... good luck,,,

Ok maybe I got things mixed up but at my appointment today I was told to stay away from steriods because it can cause tissue damage and can lead to the band eroding into your stomach. This was from my Band Dr.. Maybe i missunderstood but check with your Band Dr. Good luck He did say shot were fine cause they stayed in one area and that inhailers were fine because it stayed in your lungs but to stay away from the injested kind..

Trish, When you go ask about a vac.. I am not sure of the exact name but with my c-section they left it open and asked me if I wanted to be a guini pig and try an experiental device. I was wide open for ten weeks and then they hooked this vacume, that i carried around like a purse,up to me and it healed in 2 weeks or less.. my incision was about four inches deep and five inches long.. The idea of the vacume was it sucked the infection out and also pulled the tissue together so it would heal on the inside first.. The infection that was pulled out was stored in a clear container on the vacuume so i could see it and it was GREEN, Black, red brown. ect.... When I asked about it, the green was the infected tissue, the rest was dead tissue and old blood... The point is that green was good FOR ME it was being sucked out of me... But before I agreed to the vac. My gause was green also and they had no problem with it. The first day I saw the green I called the office freaking out and they said the best way to know when an infection is in need of imediate attention is to smell.. I know its sounds gross, but the fact is you have an infection, we all know that its obviouse, but when the infected tissue starts killing the healthy tissue and taking over it has a really bad smell... Again I am not a dr. so make sure you tell them whats going on but if you are going to the wound hos. ask about the vac. I know after the study I was in they did put it on the market and maybe that will speed up your recovery....Good luck honey and thanks for all the pics.. I am in nursing school so all this is cool to me.... LOL

Just my thoughts I guess My views are not agreed with but we can agree to disagree... :nervous

Gloria, Hi nice to meet cha, This board is awsome for answering questions... You will learn all you need on this board.. good luck and keep us posted
-
It all comes back to "How bad do you want this?" And can you self pay? I know most of us have waited six months or more.. I started looking into the band in Dec. 05 I knew I wanted it but could not pay so I said well I will work on my life style till I can pay... So I quit smoking, then my hubby happen to get a new job with ins. that would pay but I still can't have it done till july 25th. If you want it do the diet... and you'll get it... Like someone said earlier.. "its a lot of hoops but at least there not on fire" lol It will happen... Good luck..
-
I have not had this happen, but if you are having 2nd thoughts now CHANGE!!! think of it as a future stress reliever.. Because you are self pay you should have the EXACT! price up front... ANd your office SHOULD know that no question.... I would be a little leary with this office.. How bad would it be to be two or three days out from surgery and find out you need and xtra grand or more... I think you should stick with your gut instinct and CHANGE drs. and save your self some money and frustration.... good luck

I don't know what to do I just what it to END!!! lol thanks

Mom or no Mom people who are not addicted to food do not understand what kind of world we live in. Commercials on TV are not torture to them while on a diet, They don't wake up thinking about food, they don't go to bed thinking about food. They don't understand that EVERYTIME we eat our brains are saying "should i be eating this" If they love you no matter what they will support you with your decision. My mother is skinny but she struggles just as I do everyday. My father does not support me and has not talked about it once to me. I am leaving in his court to take the i-nish-i-tive(speeling sucks ) to find more about it.. I guess if he doesn't ask he won't know when I get it done. It sounds like your mom is just worried... she will come around.. good luck

Isn't that Max out of pocket per year? So what if there is a problem next year? or what about your fills next year? Just asking....

My Pcp was not to happy about it but she is the type of doc that listens to her patc. She was excited about my hubby having the surgery due to all his medical problem. But she was all for writing my letter of recomendation, so now I can't wait to go back and to have lost weight... I plan on doing WW again with the band I love the diet and it is something I think I can stick to.

Ok, I am a 28 mother of three under the age of 5. Yes I am busy!! I am also a wife and a full time nursing student. I have been overweight as long as I can remember. Looking back, I was teased from a very young age but it had more to do with my height, but teasing was teasing. it alll hurts. In high school I had a basketball coach hound me for 4 weeks about playing for the team. I did not like exercise or sports but he finally talked me into trying out. Who would have thought that was what i needed to get healthy. I loved sports and was damn good at basketball, softball, and vollyball. From the ninth grade on I played sports all year round. I was still overweight but I was healthy. I could run a mile no problem, Then at 18 I got married. (BAD BAD DIET) We both loved to eat, and we did it together. We slowly gained over the years and five years after getting married we had our first child. After my daughter I joined WW and lost 70 lbs. I felt great, but it did't last. I slowly gained it back after the birth of my two sons. So after 11 years of marriage we are here. Me and my hubby are doing the band together... I am so excited, I have an appointmt with my dr. on weds to find out surgery date.. I do plan on having PS, breast implants and TT. I have planned on doing that sense my first child. 3 yrs of breastfeeding makes the girls look south. As long as you have the implants placed under the muscle you can still produce milk. If you have a life where they move the nipple it could effect your milk. Also if you have a boob job before kids and you do implants they should not be effected to much with nursing a baby. Well it was nice meeting bandsters around my age.... I will let you know my band date when I know it... lol :clap2:
