    Was It Worth It?

Jacqui, thanks for all your posts. You make me believe I can do this. I am in the US, but have an awesome doctor. I don't have all the restrictions like some on this forum say their doctors have. I pretty much have 3 rules...no carbonated beverages, no drinking calories, and no snacking between meals. Other than that he told me NOT to count calories, NOT to count weight watchers points, just to eat until I was satisfied. It is working for me. I was banded 9-12-08 at 197 pounds 5'4" and I am down to 167 pounds as of last Thursday. 30 pounds in 3 months with weighing my food, counting my calories, etc. seems pretty good to me. Thanks again for your encouragement when you probably didn't even know you were giving it! Bree
  2. Hi. I'm Bree. 33 years old, 5'4". My highest weight was 210 pounds, surgery day was 197 pounds, 13 weeks post op I'm at 170 pounds. My goal weight is 140. I had the surgery to relieve the depression the weight held me in. That and my father has many health problems I didn't want to end up experiencing myself.

    Ready for 1st fill!!!!!

The first week I was on a clear liquid diet (lost 10 pounds) 2nd week was added thicker liquids, like cream soups. The 3rd week was mushy foods (soft cheeses, mashed potatoes, baby food, ect. Week 4 was soft meats (chicken, fish, ect) Week 5 (I'm in now) is introducing fruits and veggies, then finally week six adds red meat and pasta. It was just a way to slowly introduce you back to foods.

    Ready for 1st fill!!!!!

I've felt the same way. My first fill will be Oct 22. I have a hard time remember I've had anything done. I could eat anything right now. I'm just "dieting" now, and hungry quite often. I did have one bad bout with some chicken that must have been too dry. It was very painful. I have been fortunate that I haven't gained any weight, but it sure has slowed down. I've lost 15 pounds since the surgery, 10 of that was the first week! I'll be getting my first fill at 6 weeks post op. Good luck!

    1 week post-op

I was banded on 9-12. I have many days that I am starving! I have a 10 y/o, 6 y/o and 4 y/o. All girls. I still cook for them and my husband. My husband looks at me funny at times and says I'm staring at him eat. I've told him more than once that I just want to lick his food. He laughs. He knows it's hard and appreciates what I go through to make dinner. He is getting a little tired of frozen meals though. It's easier for me than cooking and smelling the food for hours. I'm anxious for Saturday. I get eggs, cheese, oatmeal..every week I look forward and think about what I can eat next time! It's hard, but we can do this.

    Hello from Michigan

thanks for the bean and ham suggestion. I had that for lunch and it tasted pretty good. It's a little thicker than the cream soups, probably closer to mushy foods, but it went down fine. Thanks again.
  7. Hi everyone. My name is Bree. I was banded by Dr. Laker of Great Lakes Weight Loss on September 12, 2008. I am on my week 2 diet and starving for real food. I'm short tempered and not much fun to live with. I totally understand the logic in the slow progression and would not want to jeapordize anything, but I just want to lick some real food or something! I do not think I'll eat cream soups or broth for the rest of my life! Sorry...it hasn't been a bad experience for me, just having one of those days I need to vent. My husband doesn't really understand and my children do not even know I had a lapband put in (they wouldn't even know what that was anyway). So I cook for them everyday, make their breakfasts and pack their lunch. I've only got a few more weeks though and can start learning how to eat for the rest of my life! Thanks all for listening.

    Hello from Michigan

I am from grand rapids. Thanks all for the support. I have not tried blending other soups, maybe I could try that. When I used the blender for my potato soup it changed the taste so much, it really wasn't that good.
