Looking to talk w/ someone similiar to me

Thanks for the post Sandra, how encouraging. I can't wait for Monday, to give the center another call and schedule my appointment. I wish you great success and the best of health!
  2. Hi, I'm a female 5'7", 231 lbs, BMI 36, 44 yrs old, diabetic type II - metaforim and Lantus -insulin, high blood pressure (now under control w/med), high cholesterol, the works and sleep apnea. I'm wondering if there are any banded persons out there that are in a similiar health situation and if they've been successful. If been going back and forth for a year on getting banded and I need some feedback. I know it's my decision and I read all the successes, but then I also read that the diabetes holds you back from losing weight and you don't get rid of the diabetes. Always wondering, I guess I think too much!:tongue2: Brettalyn:wink_smile:

So it sounds like you've also had a positive journey Pat. Good Job I'm happy to hear you are off all those meds. They really can't be good for us. You're almost at goal - congrats! Keep it going!

The Byetta (yuck) That is why I'm on insulin. I had such pain in my abdominal area from the Byetta, I couldn't take it anymore. Talk about restrictive eating. Well I'm really getting excited about getting this done, knowing that there are people like me that have this working for them. Great News! Good Luck!

I called and left a message to make my screening appointment. I've done this before and cancelled 6 mo's ago, this time I'm keeping it. I'm hoping for the same success that you're having. Great job.

Yipee! The best NSV ever for me!

Congrats, I'm sooo happy for you! I'm struggling on whether to get banded because I keep hearing that the banding doesn't help diabetics like gastric bypass and that diabetics have a very difficult time losing the weight. Thanks for your uplifting post! Great Job Brettalyn
  10. I'm one of those people that have been thinking about this for a year. I've attended the inservices, have my insurance in line for payment but I just can't make that appointment with the surgeon. I keep thinking that I can do this on my own, but that's not happening. I am a diabetic (type II) I had gestational took insulin now 15 years later I'm back on insulin, Lantus. Looking forward to chatting in the future. Brenda:thumbup:

    Hello Everyone!

Themis, Wow thanks for that perspective. I've never thought of it that way. Just because you get the band doesn't mean that the weight just falls off, it takes a lot of work and self control. I really want to get off my meds and be healthy and not have to sleep with that darn ole sleep apnea machine. I love the way it makes me fall asleep and sleep restfully, I just hate the looks of it on me. Anyway, thank you and I wish you much success.
