  1. Welcome!! Mine is also the 26th. We had a mini Thanksgiving on Tuesday for me. My mood is ok so far- I've been reading alot the new Twilight series. Can't get enough of it right now. My kids hid the final bok from me so I have something to read next week. Best wishes on this new journey... I'm right there with you on the success stories. My hubby took pics of me last night to see the differance.
  2. Day 1 for me. COuldn't drink the stuff they wanted me to have. So I'm having 2 Slimfast and a lean frozen meal for 800 cals. I have a headache too, but I also said good bye to my long time friend "Diet Coke" last night.

I had my pre-opt appt yesterday. Started 800 cals for the next 6 days today. I just about threw up when I tasted the drink they said I could buy. It was EAS... I think I'll stick with Slimfast and only have two per day and the frozen meal. I couldn't get that stuff down if I tried. lol I heard the port replacement was normally done under just a local. Seems easy enough- but like Sue said andother scar.
  4. Mine is Nov. 26th- pre-opt starts on the 19th. Ican't wait!!!
  5. Do you have alot of weight to lose? I started at 273 and I have lost 26 pounds so far. I hope to lose the 10 pounds they want me to lose and another 10 or so before Christmas. It will be awsome.

I'm going to go to as many support group meeting they have at first. I love these boards to see how people are feeling and whats working for them. It's been nice to see what foods have pro & cons too.

My mother in law went to Mexico this summer. She's lost about 30 pounds but is still eating everything and says she's not full. I think she needs another fill. She doesn't have doctors to really follow her and give support like we will. Good luck next week.

    preop diet

Great job Denise~ I have now lost 26 pounds, and next week I will start the pre-opt diet. I will lose another 10 + pounds before surgery on the 26th. If all goes well, I really could have a total of 50 lbs off by Christmas. Good luck with you surgery. Hugs Julie
  7. Aetna called today and approved my surgery. My doctor sent them all my paperwork on Monday!!! I started Weight Watchers on June 23rd. I have lost 26 pounds. I went for my first doctor appt. at the end of Aug. and has been smooth sailing all the way. I did a 90 diet thing for insurance and I'm good to go. Pre-opt diet starts on the 19th and surgery on the 26th. I'm so excited I can hardly sit still.
  8. Hey there~ I just got a call from Melissa @ NNWLS and I have a date of the 26th of this month. Aetna approved my surgery in 4 days. I'm so excited I can hardly sit down today. I start my pre-opt diet on the 19th.

Your liver hangs over where they will put the band and stiches. They have to shrink the liver to be able to move it up a little without damage. No carbs does the shrinking. Drink up.
  11. Hello~ It will be great to chat with you about the surgery. Hope all goes well with yours next week. I called Aetna today and they have all the paperwork- still no answer.

    NWWLS Support Group?

They knew I really wanted it on the 25th or 26th. They just put me down for the 26th. But if they don't hear back by the 19th she will take me off. She said she normally doesn't do that.

Sorry to hear that Sue. All my stuff was sent to insurance today. They have put me on the books for Nov. 26th. Now I just need to come up with $800.00. Losing my job hasn't made it easy to save money at all.
  17. Congrats on your weight loss. I hope to have my surgery on the 25th. Just waiting for insurance to give the go ahead. I finished my 3 month dietitian thing for insurance adn I have done everything the doctor wanted.

    Average Weekly Weight Lose

Great job on the weightloss. My doctor says when I get banned he wants me losing 2 pounds per week. Would be nice- I could have my weight off in a year.

    New to site

Welcome... I have my last dietitian appt. this Friday. Then on Monday all paperwork will go to my surgeon's office to send to insurance. From there I heard it can take 24 hours to 3 weeks depending on what nurse I get. lol... I will be on the phone with them sometime next week to pester them. I also just found out- Aetna our insurance isn't on the list for open enrollment. I need to get this done before the end of the year. yikes. But I did call, and BC will also cover it too with the same benefits. But they want 6 months of a dietitian and not 3 months.
  20. My PPO has no deductable and it's covered at 90%. However my out of pocket is only $880.00. So that will be about my cost. They will call my insurance a week before surgery to see if I've met any of it. And that will be the amount I need to bring to them the day of surgery. And believe me they want the money up front. They won't wait and see what insurance will pay first. lol

What does PB mean? Thanks Julie
  22. I have a PPO through Aetna. I have to follow a 90 program they have setup. Onve I complete that my surgery si covered at 90% with $880.00 OOP. So That's all I have to pay up-front. Call the PPO in the morning and see if Lapband is a covered benefit. Some/most employers don't cover it yet under their plans.

    Did you spend the night

My doctor does surgery in his surgery center there at the office. I was told I should be out within 4 hours.

    NWWLS Support Group?

Several of the insurance policies reqiure a 90 day or 6 month supervised diet and exercise program. Aetna's is 90 days. Have you checked with Blue Cross to see what they require? My 90 days ends Nov. 22nd with my last appt Nov. 3rd. So I hope that gives them plenty of time to get my auth for Nov. 25th. I wanted it then to recoup over Thanksgiving. But anytime in Dec. would work too.

    NWWLS Support Group?

Insurance is going great so far. I finish my 90 day dietitan thing on Nov 3rd. I hope to have surgery on the 25th of Nov. However they won't make an appt until insurance gives them the approval. I have my fingers crossed that they still have an opening. Last week I heard he had 3 openings on the 25th & 3 openings on the 26th. Are you going through insurance? Who do you have? I have Aetna through Comcast. Comcast with switching to a Blue Cross national plan in Jan. So I really would like to get this done before than. Even though it is also covered under Blue Cross.
