strange nasty odor
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I want to start this thread out by first apologizing for the question I am about to ask. For me, this question is not just embarrassing but extremely embarrassing, but I need to know the answer and don't want to call my surgeons office, I'm sure they are pretty busy today and it's nothing life threatening. So with that being said, it's off to my question. I am now 1 month and 2 weeks post op and have been noticing a foul smell coming from my viginal area, kind of like an acidic smell. I have been to my regualr doctor and had test and test run and I have no infection whatso ever ran, I have had a test for every STD out there ran, (even though I am married and DO NOT cheat), everything has come back that I am fine. I am wasing myself down there everyday about 8 times a day and the odor still comes back. I have even tried douching and this is not working. This morning, as I was walking about and helping the kids get ready for school, my 10 year old daughter was beside me, she sniffed and had the most horrible look on her face and told me that I stunk really really bad. I have also noticed that my deoradent isn't working anymore. I have switched from suave (baby powder scent) to secret platium, per orders from the nurse at the surgeons office and this isn't working either. I bet I put on deo about 6 times a day. I know that when I went to my nutrition glass the week before my surgery, the nutritionist said that I would go through what is called Ketosis, but she didn't say it would be this bad. Now, you all know what is going on with me. My question is, has anyone else went through this and is the acidic smell a normal part of this whole thing, how long did it last, and is there anything I can do to lessen the odor? -
thick saliva anyone?
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since I had my 4th fill I have had a big problem with my saliva being very thick. It's not all the time, just after I eat. Also, when I throw up, it looks like the throw up itself is inside of a bubble. Sorry bout that but I wanted to check to see if anyone else has had or is having this happen with them? If so, what is causing this? -
getting on my nerves
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a problem that is really getting on my nerves here. I have no idea if anyone else reading this has the same problem or not but, I will never know unless I ask. Right? So anyways. It seems that every time I lay down I start gurggling. This only happens when I lay down. Sitting up, I don't have a problem, but the second I lie down, the gurggling starts. My husband actually woke me up the other night cause it was so loud and constant. I have trouble getting to sleep but once I fall asleep, I am fine. Is anyone else having this gurggling problem or am I alone on this one? I don't know what it could be. Maybe I am swallowing to much air or something. I don't think it is anything serious enough to contact my doctor over at least I hope its not. HELP!!!!! -

Can anyone PLEASE offer me some advice until my unfill Monday?
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to Taterbugsmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was to tight and waiting for an unfill, I sent my hubby to the store to get chicken noodle soup. I would drain the broth out of it warm it up and drink it. It felt good going down, actually soothing and I never had any problems with it. Just remember, small sips slowly. Hope this helps you out some. -
no nerves of steel here
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I go next month on the 10th to meet with my surgeon that did my lapband. This time, I am meeting with him for a consult for a tummy tuck. I am so nervous. This is something I want so bad I can taste. The only thing is, I hate going under. I am always so scared that something is going to happen and I wont wake up from it. I've never had any troubles while under or coming out of it. Guess it's just one of those cold feet things everyone goes through. I have a wonderful, nice, and caring surgeon. I know he will take good care of me as he did when he placed the lapband. Still, I have the nerves problems. Is there anyone out there that can maybe give me some advice? Anything to help with calming my nerves. I'd be very grateful! -
my time has finally arrived
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HELLO EVERYONE!!!! It may be cold and cloudy outside today here, but it is such a beautiful day for myself. I just got back from the Doctors office. Great visit as always but this time was the best visit ever. First of all, I was informed today that at 155 pounds, I have reached my doctors goal weight. We set this weight goal 2 yrs. and 3 months ago. 2 years ago, I was 267 pounds with a BMI of 47.3. Today I am 155 pounds with a BMI of 27.5. Second of all, I have made an appointment for a consultation to discuss a tummy tuck. I am so excited and proud of myself. Only bad thing about today, I am on a liquid diet until tomorrow morning and I am getting hungry! But I will manage my way through the day. Has anyone had a tummy tuck done yet? I'm sure someone out there reading this has had it done. I'm nervous about having it done, but it is something I want done so I will have to suck it up and get past the nerves. -

If you don't get enough calories, you tend to stop loosing weight. I am on a 1400 cal. diet. I figured out that even though I may not always feel hungry, I have to make myself eat. Even if it is just a piece of fruit. If you don't eat, you really are putting yourself in danger. A short story of how I know this from personal experience. Early this year, I was too tight. I never wanted to eat and when I did eat, it would come right back up. I ended up in the ER late one night with horrible stomach pains. Turned out it was nothing but gas pains..lol. Anyways, since they knew I had had weight loss surgery, they ran a full blood panel on me to make sure everything else was ok. It wasn't. My Vitamin level were really low. So for 45 minutes I had this huge vile about the size of a golf ball full of liquid Vitamins pushed through my veins. It was the worse pain I had ever felt in my entire life. If you are having problems eating or keeping food down, please go to your surgeon and have some Fluid removed. Not only are you not loosing weight and leaning to eating unhealthy, you are putting your life in danger. -

Happy to know that I am not the only one having problems with hamburger meat. I can eat a piece of it and within minutes, I'm hanging over the toliet bowl crap, just smelling it while it is cooking makes me sick to my stomach now. -

baked chicken has become my best friend. I love to get a piece of boneless skinless chicken, put some lemon pepper on it and throw it in the oven or on the grill. I can eat it like that or put some carribean jerk on it and cook it that way. It is OH SO YUMMY! Put some broc and cheese with it and you have a wonderful meal! -
Plastic surgery, xcess skin, questions for those who went through it.
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to Cangel76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone has a different opinion on this topic, as you can see. As for myself. I go next month for a consult to have a tummy tuck. I have lost 109 pounds and have plenty of excess skin left to show. I am 99% wanting the tummy tuck done for vanity reasons. I am married but still want to look good for my husband, although he says he thinks I look good the way I am. I am very self concious about my loose skin and want to have something done about it. Going into have the lapband placed, I didn't have any health conditions. My blood pressure was wonderful, heart was fine, not even border line diabetic. Only thing wrong with me was heartburn and my back. I wanted the band because I wanted to be able to look myself in a mirror and not want to look away because I was so unhappy with what I saw staring back at me. I also wanted it done because I knew if I didn't do something then, it may end up being to late later on in life and my children would have to suffer for it. So I say, if you want any kind of plastic surgery done, do it. If you don't, don't do it. It's really that simple. People will support your decision whether you do it or not if they love you. -

I dont have the funds either. Luckily I was told today that they would if I have like rashes and sores and stuff. I have a constant rash above my pubic area from the sagging skin, I get yeast infections in my bellybutton from my muffin top and between my folds, i occasionally get sores. So my doctor thinks i should not have a problem getting approved. -

Port pain question
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone! I have been having serious pain exactly where my port is for the past 2 days. I have been taking some left over pain medicine from a surgery that I had back in Jan. of this year but it's not seeming to help. I'm starting to wonder if something is going on with my port, like if it has slipped or even maybe has flipped or trying to? If it's not any better by tomorrow, I'm calling the doctors office. Just wondering if anyone out there in bandland has any suggestions as to what it could be. I had my surgery back in August of '08 by the way. I HAVE MADE IT!!! -
I have arrived (finally)
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone, It's been a while since I've been on here, but, I have wonderful news! I got my band in August of 08 and after 2 years, I have finally made it to my goal weight of 150lbs. I am so proud of myself. It hasn't been the easiest trip nor the funest but well worth it. I started out at 267 and am now at 150 and it feels so wonderful. I do have one question though. Now that I am at my goal weight, what happens with my band? I have an appointment with my surgeon in August and can't wait to share the wonderful news with him. Will I have one last fill or what? How does that work? Will he fix it to where I don't lose more weight or what? I know that I have to talk to him about seeing a cosmetic surgeon since I have excess skin that needs to be taken care of. And to be honest, I am but I am not looking forward to that part of this journey. I am because I will have a beautiful body to show off to my wonderful husband who has stuck with me through this whole journey, but I'm not looking forward to it because I hate having surgery and I know this is going to be a HUGE one. I have to have my tummy, thighs, and arms done and I'd like to have my boobs lifted back to where they where when I was a teenager, but I just may be able to let that one slide for a while longer. Right now, I just want to get rid of my thunder thighs, overlapping belly, and my high bye arms (LOL). Anyone have any advice of having this done? Anyone at all with any kind of advice at all? I'm up to hearing it all. -
Halloween Candy House of Horror
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to Lupe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My kids range from ages 8 to 17. My 8 yr old was the only one to go trick or treating. I can't lie, I thought I would be able to be strong while trick or treating but the candy was to appealing. It won and I lost. I have had some toostie rolls, and a few bite size crunches. The good new is, while trick or treating, we walked walked and walked. So I only gained a pound. The bad news, I still have a huge bowl of candy left over and I'm the only one home right now. So far today, I have resisted the temptation. It hasn't been easy, but I think I just found a way to not want it. I pulled up a few pics of myself from b4 I had the band and saw how big I was and was disgusted. Think I will blow that pic up and put it on my fridge door will help me to stay away from anything unhealthy. -
I've fallen off the wagon, but am jumping back on
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, you read it right. I have done so good with not going overboard on the sweets and not eating to much. That is, until this past week. I have felt like I did when I was pregnant. You know how you always feel you are hungry and just can't get enough? I know I'm not pregnant cause it is not possible. So why is it that all I wanna do is eat eat and eat? I last weighed last Friday and had actually lost some more weight, but I am afraid to get back on the scales since this past weekend. I have had Ice Cream, candy bars, Cookies, and all kinds of goodies. I know it does no good to be mad at myself or to be down on myself. All I can do is what I just did about 15 minutes ago. I went to the freezer, threw out all the ice cream, went to the pantry threw out all the candy bars, and started to throw away all the cookies from the cookie jar but remembered why I had bought them in the first place. I bought them for my step-daughter to take to school and eat for snack, so, I just turned and walked away from them. So does anyone else go through these kinds of spells and does anyone know what triggers them? If so, please please please share with me. -

Wow..way to go. I know how good you feel. Just one question if you don't mind. Your ticker says you weight 172 and you say you are in a 11/12 juniors. How tall are you? I way 175 and am only in a 16 in womans. I am short so you have got to be tall to be at 172 and in that small of a size. Now don't get me wrong. I'm not calling you are liar by any means, just wondering how much taller you are than I am. -
Good Days...Bad Days
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just wondering if anyone else out there have these good days and bad days like I do. There are days when I can eat and it not bother me meaning: I'm not to tight. Then there are days (like today) I can't eat anything without it coming back up (due to me being to tight). So far today, all I have been able to eat and keep down is ice cream and drinks. If anyone else has this problem, please let me know what you do when you have your to tight days. -
Got a quick question. Hopefully they answer can be answered fairly fast. I was just wondering, if I do my crunches on my water bed, will it be as effective as if I did them on the floor or on a bench?

crunches

I just spoke with my Exercise Physiologist and he said yes, doing crunches on a Water bed is just as effective as doing them on a regular bed, bench, or floor. Finally I have found a way to do crunches without crying from pain after I am finished.:thumbup::ohmy::crying:
