BM problems
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to Mutt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pain around your port: its because the port is located between your skin and the muscle. I was in pain with that spot for about 2 1/2 weeks maybe 3. The more you walk the less it will hurt. It takes time, but it does go away, I promise. About the BMs. I had the same problem for a couple of weeks. I was going bout 4 times a day and it was like I was peeing from back there. My surgeon said that it is normal and that something for loose stools would help with it. I think alot of my weight that I lost to begin with was because of the very very loose stools I was having. Just go to the store and get something for diarrhea. -
Hey all! I am due to have my 2nd adjustment Thursday. I was just wondering, I already have 3 1/2cc (from 1st fill), should I have any restriction with my 2nd fill. With what I have now, I still feel no restriction at all. I can eat just like I did before the band (although I don't), but I am still hungry within a couple hours. I have been trying this K2O water but it doesn't feel like it is working cause its not taking the edge off my hunger feeling. Please tell me good news and I will be able to feel the restriction with my 2nd fill

August bander here
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone. My name is Michele. I'm from Tennessee and was banded in August of this year. I have only lost 16 pounds but well on my way to a slimmer me. I have been looking around on this site since about 2 weeks before I joined the lapband world and finally decided to join this evening. I am hoping to make some online friends to share stories with on what we are going through. I have already had my first fill and will be going back for my second fill this coming Thursday since the first one has done nothing for me. I am really hoping the second one give me some restriction. Any comments from anybody will be well welcomed. I hope everyone out there in bandland is doing well and making their goals. Michele banded on august 18th, 2008 1st fill on September 15 2008 2nd fill on September 25 2008 -
Do you weigh your food or just measure it?
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to GinaJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What kind of band do you have? I have the realize band, 9cc. Your first fill, don't expect to much. I just had my first fill on the 15th and got 3 1/2cc and I barely have any restriction at all. Luckyly, I have an appointment this coming Thursday to have another adjustment. -

I was told no more than 3 tablespoons. Also, you stomach isn't suppose to be able to hold more than what you can fit into the palm of your hand. -
Frustrated in Tennessee
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I have done pretty good with not cheating since I have been banded. I won't lie, I have cheated a few times here and there, but nothing bad. I'd stop at a couple bites of chicken salad or a bite of pickle. But today, it has been a totally different story. I have no idea what is going on. I had my first adjustment on Monday this week. I still feel no restriction whatsoever. I have cheated really bad today too. I have had 8 Cookies. I called my surgeons office and they let me make another appointment for another adjustment, but its not until Thursday. I am so disappointed in myself for cheating like this. I don't know why I have let myself do this today. I dont even think it is physical hunger, I'm pretty sure it is all mental. But something happened today and I couldn't stop myself. Its like it wasn't even me eating those cookies. I hate myself for this. What is going on here. I talked to my husband about it and he said its my body trying to gain the weight back. Could this be possible? Is this what is going on? How am I going to make it until my next adjustment? Will I make it without gaining weight by then? I'm about in tears over this. I can't help but to wonder, is the band going to work for me or is it just another lost cause? Someone, please please help me. -

Hey slim, I see you are from chattanooga. I'm about 30 miles from Chattanooga. I live in Kimball (Jasper) area. Where are you having your band done? I had to go all the way to Knoxville to have mine done. -
Cancelled fill appointmets
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to Jeter2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally, first, I would call the insurance company and tell them what was and has been going on with that Doctors office. Then let them know that you really need to find a place to have your adjustments (fills) that can be trusted and see if they can give you the names of Doctors somewhere close to you and you call them, explain to them what is going on with the other Doctor and see if they will take you as a fill patient. Most likely, they will. If they do take you, I would call that Doctors office and give them a piece of my mind and tell them you have reported them to the insurance company. Who knows, you reporting them may make it to where they have to pay the insurance company back for the visits where you had nothing done. You shouldn't have to be worried with this for any reason at all and I am really sorry you are going through this. Seems to me all they wanted was the money for your procedure and now they are finished. Wonder how many of patients of theirs have gone through the same thing with them? Don't lose hope and keep your chin up. -
wooo whooo, I have made it through my 1st month
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys and gals, I am as of today exactly 1 month post-op. I wont lie, it hasn't been the easiest road I have ever traveled but one of the most rewarding. My first 2 weeks where the hardest. I was on Clear liquids those weeks and seeing my family go on with their hambugers and pizzas etc... well, basically, I wanted to snatched them ballheaded. But this was my decision and I knew what would come along with it when I did it. Along with the band come alot of major changes in my life. I not only had this procedure done, but the same day I had it done was the last day that I had a cigarette. I have been smoke free for an entire month, and giving them up was alot easier than giving up my food, I will tell you that now. So, I am 1 month post-op. I am very proud of myself. I am proud that I have stuck it out thus far and can't wait to see what the next month holds for me. I am 17 pounds lighter. Its not as much as some have lost post-op, but by george, 17 pounds is DAMN GOOD for just 1 month. For all who were banded in August, CONGRATULATIONS WE MADE IT THROUGH OUR FIRST MONTH. YEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWW!!:wink2::tongue::crying: -

I thought I'd never get to the end of my 2 weeks either, it was the hardest part for me. I have several different things that kept me going on my Mushies stage. I can email them to you if you'd like. Keep your chin up, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I promise you!! -

That's right, from here on out, it is straight ahead no looking back. My goal I want so bad to meet this year, to be able to wear one of those sexy Santa Suits Christmas night for my wonderful husband that has beent here for me since I decided to go through with this. I owe it to him, and most of all, I owe it to myself to see myself smaller and in something sexy for the first time since I was 19 yrs. old. -
Just a crazy food question
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to Jillbeme65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 1 month out exactly today and am still advised not to eat cereal yet. The Nurse says its the starch in it that will mess with you. Hender your weight loss and all. I know how you feel about it though, I use to eat cereal, pancakes, or oatmeal for breakfast every morning before being banded and I am so ready for my oatmeal, cereal, and pancakes again. Your Doctor may have different guide lines than mine does so check with him/her before doing it. -
Tips and Tricks

In my opinion it is also insurance fraud. Why take the chance of lying and being caught. Do you have children? If you do, think of how they will feel if you are caught and have to spend the next X amount of yrs in prision. If doing it for fear of not qualifing due to know co-morbids maybe this will help you. I had my band placed august 18 of this yr. I had no co-morbids at all. No high b/p, so sleep disorders, no diabetes, nothing at all. Other than my weight, I was and still am in perfect health condition. My insurance aprroved me in less than 2 days. I only had to pay out of pocket $500.00. No matter how you try to justify it, it is called stealing and fraud. Don't do something you may one day end up regreting is what my family has installed in me. -
gas pain or something more?
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey ya'll. Got a slight problem here. I have been having some pretty bad abdominal pain for about a week now. It isn't constant and stays in 1 place when it comes. It is like below my bread basket and over to the right. I am thinking it is gas pain, but Gas-X isnt helping, walking doesn't help and I have even tried rocking from side to side and back and forth and this isn't working either. When I went for my fill today I spoke to the nurse about it and she (like me) thinks it is nothing more than gas. Any ideas of what I can do to pass this gas. I can't get it out and this pain is driving me nuts. Oh yeah, it hurts more when I get up or have to walk around, if I am sitting or laying down, it doesnt bother me. -

gas pain or something more?
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I honestly don't think it is gas pains that I am experiencing. I have a good friend that is a RN and she said that it may be a gallstone. I am hoping that it is something different, but I am thinking a gallstone also. The RN at my surgeons office also said that there is a chance that it is a gallstone also. If the pain I am having isn't any better by the time I put the kids to bed tonight, I'm going to have my husband to take me to the ER to get checked out and get my mom to watch the kids while I am gone. -
I had my first adjustment this Monday (the 15th). I don't feel any restriction yet? I am thinking I need to go back in for another adjustment. How long should I wait before I call to make an appointmet?

I was just banded on the 18 of aug. I havent joined a gym or anything yet. Part of me wants to but part of me dont. I use to go to curves a few years ago. I did a diet with it and went 3 times a week for about 2 months. My problem is, I never lost any weight but built muscle which made my number in pounds go up. I know it went up because of the muscle but I just cant stand the site of a scale that goes up no matter what. What am I to do?

It's me again...with yet another question
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK, I had my first fill yesterday. I had 3 1/2cc put in. I was as hungry all day yesterday as I was before my fill. I didn't act on the feelings though. Today, I haven't been hungry at all, so I haven't had anything to eat and it is 1:10CST. Is the band suppose to make it feel like you are never hungry? I thought it was suppose to make you feel full faster and longer, but I didn't know about making you actually feel like you aren't hungry all the time. -

My one piece of advice is this....LISTEN TO EVERYTHING YOUR DOCTOR TELLS YOU. You may not like what some of the restrictions are at first, but there is a reason behind them. They know best, that's why you are the patient and they get paid thousands of dollars and the right to be called a Doctor. They don't expect you to be perfect and neither should you. Just do you best, keep your head up high and know that you are doing this for the right reasons and you will be fine. -
HELP! I can't quit caffiene!
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to kaytiebugs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For me, giving up the caffine was really easy, along with the carbonated drinks, and smoking. I just went cold turkey. The last time I had any of the above mentioned, was about 4 hours before my surgery. I still crave the smokes and caffine but not really all that bad. I know that I gave it up for wonderful reasons and that is what keeps me going.
