I'm Gurgling...
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to Jewels68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can relate to the hubby hearing the gurgle. Mine are so loud that he hears them while laying in the bed. We just lay there and laugh about it, that is, until I'm ready to go to sleep and am still gurgling and it keeps me awake..lol -
I'm Gurgling...
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to Jewels68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gurgling, funny thing huh? I gurgle atleast once a day. It only happens when I either drink to fast, get to big of a drink, or drink to fast and too much at 1 time. I think it has to do with it backin up and the amount of air that you swallow while drinking or eating. -
Carbs, cals, and protein
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A question that many people have probably wondered but never asked. How in the world do the people that make food figure out the cals, carbs, and protein that are in it? I wonder this all the time, but still have no answer. Anyone out there have an idea how the determine it? -
BIG Embarassing Moments - Fuel for Success
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to Mamadot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a funny yet embarrassing one to tell. When it happened, I ran out crying, but now looking back, I can't help but to laugh. So, it was a Friday night, my now exhusband, 2 kids, his mom and dad and myself all went out to eat. The place was packed (wouldn't you know it). My ex motherinlaw informed me that my right shoe was untied when I returned to the table after serving myself at the hot bar. No biggie, I thought. I sit doen, bent over, and started tying my shoe. I was about to pull the loop through and all my body weighted shifted forward at one time and out of my seat I fall. Right infront of everyone. By the time my ex fatherinlaw was on the side of the table i was on, i was already headed out the door. At that time I weighed 300 pounds, now I only weigh 214. Like I said, at the time, it was horrible, but now, I can't help but to laugh, so go head and laugh with me. HAHAHAHAHAHA -
Carbs, cals, and protein

I wonder that myself. I have even ask a waitress about the nutrition and she couldn't tell me, so I have learned, just a very very small salad with dressing on the side, grilled chicken and some kind of steamed vegetable is ok. Still don't know the calories in it, but I watch my calorie intake alot extra and make sure that when we do go out to eat, that its late enough that I wont want anything else to eat rest of the day. -
Any smokers?
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to CountryGirlNY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I smoked before I had my band back in August of 08. The day of surgery, I quit and vowed never to smoke again. After 2 months of not smoking, I broke that vow. My excuse for starting again was, they took my sweets, they took my carbanated drinks, they took my food, and my smokes and one had to come back or I was going to go NUTS. So I started smoking again. I know thats not a good reason and I was doing so darn good not smoking, but I went back anyways. I quit those 2 months on my own nothing to help me but pure will power. I saw someone mentioned Chantix, Chantix is suppose to be really good at helping you stop, but the side effects where more than I wanted, especially the one that said more apt to try to commit suiciede (know it is spelt wrong). Now, there is an electric cigg. that is for people that want to quit smoking but is having a really hard time with it. It has nicotine and only that. None of the posions that come with ciggs. When you inhale the end of it lights up just like a real one and when you exhale it is only (i cant remember what the word is i am looking for) like Water that comes out of your mouth. Not, like a stream of water, something like mist, yeah thats what it is, DUH STACY, you inhale nicotine and exhale mist. It is suppose to be really safe, and it actually curbs the craving. You can even use it in resturants. It comes in menthol or regular, and last for a long time. One electric cigg is all you need, it is rechargeable and comes with the battery. My aunt was just told she has COPD so her boyfriend starting smoking the electric ones and they dont bother her at all. I even tried it a few times and when I am down at her house, that is what I smoke instead of the real ones. You can't (well I can't) tell the difference between them other than the weight. -
How many banders can eat bread without problems? How much and when?
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to coloradobanding's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Depending on how I eat the bread and when I eat it. First of all, I only eat Wheat now, it 2 slices and only 100 calories for both slices. Now, if I try to eat the bread without toasting it, I have problems from "HELL". It gets stuck, I HURT, I cry, and then sometimes, it comes right back up. If I toast it, its not as bad. Sometimes it gets stuck but the pain isn't near as bad or lasts as long as untoasted bread. I have found that if I put a little bit of s/f jam or preserves on it, and take VERY VERY VERY SMALL BITES, it goes down easily and I have no problems. I don't eat bread often maybe once a week or once every couple weeks. I have to really be in the mood for it in order to eat it. -
Today is March 1, 2009. In only 17 days, I will have had my band for 7 months. I knew that it would be a long and hard journey with several bumps, twists, and curves along the way and still I chose to take this road. I still remember the day that I got my band just like it was yesterday. I got up that morning, got the kids up, ready, and off to school, then my husband and I started for my 2 hour ride to the hospital. From the time I sat down in the van until they put me under, I was nervous and scared. Until I recieved my "Happy pill", I was crying. I remember being wheeled into the operating room just asking the Lord above to take care of me and to please let me wake up. Once in the operating room, I dont think there was not 1 single person that was in there that I didn't ask their name, what they did, why they were there, and ask them to please whatever happened, let me wake up to go home to my husband and my kids. I was in the operating room less that 30 minutes. My surgeon said it only took him 20 minutes to do the whole procedure. I remember waking up in the recovery room asking, Where is Mark (my husband). But I don't remember the answer that I was given. The next thing I remember was waking up in my room to my darling sweet husband holding my hand sitting down beside me saying he loved me and everything went wonderfully. You know, they say as long as you get up and walk around your chances of getting a blood clot are very slim, well, I remembered this and my first words were, I need a Nurse and I need a Nurse now. My husband was scared and ask what for, I looked at him and said, I don't want a blood clot so I need to get up and walk. He laughed at me, rang the Nurse bell and withing 30 minutes, I was up walking the hall with my husband and my IV poll:laugh:. I remember walking atleast 6 times that day, but I don't remember drinking or anything else. The next morning, my surgeon come in and I was sitting in the recliner and my husband was laying on my bed snoring his little heart out. All my doctor could do when he saw and heard him was smile and laugh. He told me everything went well and that as long as nothing come along that couldn't be handled, I could leave and go home that evening. Someone come in with a portable Ultrasound machine and checked my legs for blood clots and I was fine, someone come in and wheeled me down to someplace, I stood up, drank some nasty liquid and watched my band at work, everything was fine. By 12 that afternoon, I was being dismissed from the hospital and by 3:15 I was pulling up in the drive way. They only way I knew that it was 3:15 was as soon as I finally got out of the van and made it up the steps onto the porch, my kids were getting off the bus and running up the road to see me. I don't remember anything about rest of that day. Mark says I don't remember because as soon as I hugged the kids and used that bathroom, I come straight to the bedroom proped myself up on some pillows and passed out..lol. I don't argue with him about it, because that probably what I did. For 2 weeks after my surgery, I was allowed nothing but clear liquids. I don't have to tell any of you that have already had your band placed, those 2 weeks were nothing short of hell on earth. I had 4 days left of my 2 week liquid diet and I couldn't take it anymore and I found myself on the phone crying to the Nurse and the doctors office begging her to please just let me eat something that didn't pass straight through my band. She assured me 4 days would go by faster than I thought it would and Id be able to eat some mushy foods. And it did, and I did!!! I had never in my life, been so grateful to put something on the end op my spoon that wouldn't fall off just by barely moving it. lol Now, today almost 7 months later, I am on a full food diet. There are things that I can eat and then there are things that as soon as I swallow, I know it was a BAD IDEA. I am still learning what I can and can't eat and every now and then, I want that HUGE BACON CHEESEBURGER WITH A SIDE OF FRENCH FRIES AND A MILKSHAKE. But I know I can't have it, so I go on. Eating out has gotten alot easier, mainly because anytime I go out, I order the same thing, grilled chicken and a couple vegetables and a to go plate. People that haven't seen me in a while, and even people that see me regularly, tell me that I am looking better. And even my Ex-husband new wife, tells me I look good now. I am 52 pounds lighter and have dropped 4 pant sizes and 2 shirt sizes. Only bad thing about losing the weight, my boobs are saying buh bye too...but I can deal with that. On the 6th of this month, my wonderful husband and I will celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary and our 3 years anniversary of being together. Starting on the 17, we are taking a 1 week vacation just the 2 of us. This time last year, we went to Disney World with our 4 kids and my mom and I had to ride in a cart the whole time because I was so overweight and my back hurt so bad, plus I had a really bad sprang on my ankle. This year when we go, I will be able to walk the entire time and ride some of the rides that I was afraid to try cause I didn't think I'd fit in the seats. I love my band and it loves me. I wouldn't change any of these last 7 months. This is the journey I have choosen and this is the path that will lead me to a better and more beautiful person!!!!

How long have you had YOUR band?
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to KikstersRT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had my band since August 18, 2008. -
I enjoy doing it. She is so precious and such a handfulll. But I wouldn't change it for all the money in the world. Somehow, when I am depressed about something, she always knows how to make me smile and laugh.

UPDATE for all who want to know
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As most of you (those who read my post regularly) know, I got my band in August on 08. I have had troubles with restriction. I am on my 4th fill now and finally have the restriction that I have needed all alone. Up until this past Wednesday, I wasn't hardly losing any weight and what weight I was losing, I had to lose with self control. I have a 14cc band and I have have 9cc in it so far. I thought until my last doctors visit, the band was going to be another one of those things I have tried and it just wasnt going to work. When I weighed in at the doctors office, for the first time, I weighed 267lbs. I lost 15lbs the first 2 weeks after getting my band and I was so excited. After that, I would stall and then lose very very slowly. When I weighed in on Wednesday, I weighed 229, thats without my shoes and socks on and taking 2lbs off for clothes. I weighed this morning, no clothes on at all and I now weigh 221lbs. I am finally losing again and I am so happy. Today is Valentines day, my husband ask me what I want today and all I can think of is, I want another pair of pants cause the size 22s that I have been wearing, they are becoming a bit baggy on me. THAT FEELS SO DAMN GOOD TOO!! My point today is this. For all of you banders who think the band isn't working for you, give it time, it will start to work. Just have faith in it. When you think of giving up or just sneaking that cookie, DONT DO IT. Kepp me in mind, I have been through hell I have been depressed, I have cried, I have thrown things, I have cussed this band around my stomach. But now, I am happy, I am losing weight, changine pant sizes again, looking better and feeling better. GO FOR YOUR GOAL AND NEVER STOP BELIEVING!!! HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE -

MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my adjustment yesterday. I weighed in at the doctors office at 229.5 pounds. I weighed myself just a few minutes ago and it showed 224 pounds. My scales always say the same as the ones at the doctors office. Is it possible that I have actually lost 5 pounds since yesterday morning. I haven't been able to eat anything and I have very little liquids. -
Doctors appointment today
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, today was the first time that I have actually seen my surgeon since the morning after I was band. Everytime up until today, when I have went in for a fill or whatever other reason, I have always seen his Nurse. My appointment today was due to my not being able to get the fullness feeling when eating and that causing me to eat more than I should have been eating. When he got me infront of the Fluroscopy machine I was so scared that I had strectched my pouch. Much to my surprise, it wasn't stretched out any at all. He looked very closely and told me that everything looked just fine and there was enough room for another fill. This was my 4th fill and up until this fill, I really hadn't felt much restriction. But now, I feel it totally. I have had squirts of hunger today but with a little bit of Fluid they went away. Around 7 tonight, I decided to have a little bit of oatmeal that was really runny. I had about 5 teaspoons maybe 6 and that was all that it took to fill me up. Before today, I could eat a whole packet full and still want more. I can now feel the fluid actually stay in one place for more than just a second and it is such a totally different feeling than it just going straight through. My next appointment is April 15 and I have decided to set a goal for myself. By the time I go back to see him again, I want to have lost atleast 15 pounds. I am sure I can do this with alot of hard work, disipline, and exercise. I just checked myself before I decided to post this thread and I have already lost 1 pound since this morning. 14 more to go and I will be there. If anyone wants to join me in this challenge, just let me know and we can go at it together. -
so you had a bad day
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so thankful for this website. I feel that nobody in my home knows what I am going through and it is wonderful to have people to talk to that know exactly what I am going through. I have been fighting off depression all day long. I don't have anything to be depressed over, but for some reason, I just feel this "BLAH" feeling in the pit of my stomach and I just want to curl up and cry myself to sleep. I have went on an eating rage today. I have over eaten big time. I'm not going to give myself down the road because of it. I know I shouldn't have done it and admitting it is the first step in the right direction. I will hit the gym as soon as the kids get on the bus and head off to school and walk an hour on the treadmill and do my arm and leg exercises and then treat myself to 20 minutes in the tanning bed to loosen my muscles. Hopefully 2morrow will be a better day but if not, then I guess I will just shut myself in my room and stay out of the kitchen...lol Thanks for taking the time to read this. -
I was just wondering, can anal sex cause colon cancer or any other type of cancer? I have heard that doing it alot can cause it?

I've been cheating.
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to LeslieR041906's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not going to be hard on you. If I said I haven't cheated, Lord knows I'd be lying. I have been known to have a few cookies from time to time and I don't always choose the best of foods. Like one post said, this is a journey you have to take one day at a time. There are times that I get finished eating and I feel like I could still have another plate and there are days, I'd give my right arm and left leg to be able to eat like I use to. But after about 20 minutes of being finished with my plate, I start to get that fullness feeling. Being hard on yourself, it will only make things harder on yourself and make it easier to fall off the wagon (so to say) and go back to your old eating habits. I wish you the best of luck! -

sick @ my stomach
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am feeling alot better now. As for the phenergan, my surgeon gave me a prescription for it before I even had my band put in. I never took the first one until the other night and when I went to get it (out of the medicine cabniet in the bathroom) I only had one pill to take. I looked on the bottle to see if that was all that he gave me but on the bottle it said 30. Someone has been getting my phenergan and either taking them or selling them or something. I think I know who did it. My step son. He has stolen things from me before but this would be the first time it has been medicine. Hopefully, I wont have to worry about taking anymore or being sick at my stomach again.
