    Scared out of my mind!

It's normal to be scared. This is a big change that we all are making in our lives. It's not like a diet that when you get tired of doing it, you can say the Hell with it and quit. This is something that will take dedication and determination. Trust me, I just had my lapband done monday (Aug 18), the whole way up there I was finding reasons not to do it. I even tried to think of reasons right up until the took me to the OR. But also, trust me, once it is over and done with, you start your recovering period and start thinking about how much better you are going to feel and look, you will realize it is worth it.
  2. Well, tomorrow is my surgery date and I'm really looking forward to it. Sure, I still have some butterflies but I know this is normal. I got up this morning and went to Church, come home, straightened up bedroom, packed my stuff, went and got groceries, and now I am sitting here on the computer typing down my thoughts hoping someone will take the time to sit back and read this. I'm sure alot of you will be reading this actually. I made up my mind last week that tonight I am having a big Steak, Baked Potato, salad, with a Coke to drink. For dessert, I am having a slice on Peach Cobbler. My Aunt calls it "my last REAL meal". lol Tomorrow morning, I have to be up at 6:00 to get all the kids ready for for school and down to the bus stop. After they get on the bus, my husband and I are leaving for our 2 hour drive to Knoxville, TN. I'm sure by the time we hit the interstate, my stomach will be full of huge butterflies. I have to be at the hospital at 10:00 a.m. and I guess they will take me to the OR around 11:30 or so, I'm not sure. My son ask me today how skinny I would be when I got back home. He is only 7. I had to explain to him that it would take time for me to lose the weight, and he says, OH, I thought you lost it instantly. LOL, I couldn't help but to laugh at it. I know that everything will be fine during and after the porcedure. I have a wonderful surgeon, (I have been told he is one of the best in the Country), and he has a wonderful staff working with him. But to be honest, I'm not looking forward to having to have only liquids for 2-4 weeks, or however long it will be. But, it is part of what makes the band work and part of my way to becoming a better and happier Stacy. So, I will take it with a smile on my face and liquids in my belly. lol For everyone out there who is waiting to be banded, I wish you the best of luck and lots of weight loss. For those of you who have already had it done, I wish you the best of luck also and I hope you find all that you have looked for with your band.

Lap band at 0730 tomorrow morning!

Good luck tomorrow. Nerves are just part of having this procedure done. You wouldn't be normal if you didn't have atleast the slighest fear. I'm having mine done tomorrow also and I have little butterflies circling around in my tummy also. I'm sure everything will go just fine. Best of luck to you!!

    Surgery Monday- I'm going nuts!!

I know exactly what you are going through. I am scheduled to be at the hospital at 10 a.m. Monday morning for my surgery. I (unlike you) haven't been running all over town though. lol I haven't packed the first thing yet, still doing laundry (guess I'll finish it tomorrow after I get home from church), got to get the house cleaned, get the kids cloths out for Tuesday since I wont be here (my mom is getting all 4 kids off to school for me Tuesday), got to go pick up some grocries for next week (which I don't really want to do since I wont be able to eat them), but hey, everyone else has to eat huh. The only thing that I have completely done and ready for is I went and got my meds filled. Does anyone else have to bring your pain meds with you for post-op pains? My advise to anyone having surgery in the next few days, sit back, take a deep deep breath, and relax for a few seconds and not get caught up in all the Choas. OH and don't forget to let that deep deep breath out hehehe. Good luck to you on Monday, hey we can be band buddies since we are having it done on the same day. I'm going to Knoxville, Tn to have mine done. How about you, where are you having yours done?
  5. MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH

    Pigs are flying!!!

That's wonderful, I'm so excited for you! I know it will make things alot easier for you on Monday. My husband is taking off Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to be with me eventhough, I get out of the hospital on Tuesday. LOOK OUT AUGUST 18, HERE WE COME!!!

    clear liquid diet...help

Hey guys and gals, it's Stacy again. Ok, incase you have forgotten, I am being banded this coming Monday in Knoxville. I need to know something. OK, after my surgery I know for like 2 weeks, I have to be on a clear liquid diet. My problem is, I was looking at some notes from my nutrition class and somewhere I saw something about milk. Can I have milk as a fluid? Also, I need some ideas of other things I can use to get my carbs and protein in. I know there are the protein shakes and sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles. But is there anything else I can (I guess drink). It just seems that its the same things and I am afraid I will end up getting tired of the same things every day. I'm so glad I have found this site. It's alot easier going on the internet and asking these questions than calling the doctors office and worring that they are going to get aggravated with all the questions I have.

    PS - The Forbidden Area?

OK gotcha now. Hum, I'm sure like the rest of my body, it has more fatty tissue that it should!!! But like most everyone else, it's been so long since I have been able to see it, I couldn't tell you yes or no.

    Sex

I'm still waiting for Aug the 18th to be banded. My say in this is, if the doc says no physical activity (actual sex) go for the next best thing. Oral. have him go down on you first and if you feel like it afterwards, (so you don't have to bed over any) lay flat on the bed and get him to get on his knees next to your head and give him what he wants from the side. It works for me and my hubby with no complaints at all

    PS - The Forbidden Area?

OK, I'm either really young or have really been out of the loop for quite a while. What the heck in a MONS?

    Ahem...very personal :)

I can't believe I'm about to ask this but, ok 5-7 calories per tsp of ejacualate. How much protine and how many vitamines are in it. Maybe my husband was right. EJaculate does do the body good...hehe

    Why are YOU Fat?

Why am I fat? Well, let's just take a moment to look at the picture here. From the time I was born until I was married I was actually underweight. I got married and by our 1 month anniversary I was eating eating and eating. come to find out, I was pregnant. Told my family, they were thrilled, told my in-laws they were upset. My (now)ex-sister-in-law went as far as asking if I'd give my baby to her and her husband since she wasn't able to concieve and had been trying for several years. I think it was then my inlaws starting disliking me. My now exhusband and I would argue constantly, I'd turn to food cause I wasn't allowed to defend myself. By the time I had my first child (she was born on my 20th birthday) I had gained atleast 70lbs. I never really tried to lose the weight. Then I become pregnant with my 2nd child and gained up to another 100lbs, again, I never tried to lose the weight. My marriage is just a state of running through motions for the longest, so to hide my pain and stay in denile, I still turned to food. My ex left in 05 and I lost ALOT of weight. I vowed not only would I keep it off, I'd take more and more off until I was back to what I weighed when I met him...130lbs. Then, I met my (now) husband and have a wonderful life. I have lost some of the weight that I had put on and taken off and put back on again. But, every now and again, I find myself upon the scales it (I honestly think it's broke because) it keeps going up a pound at a time. Anyways, Why am I fat? 1. I gained to much weight with my pregnancies and never tried to take it back off. 2. I had a horrible marriage and turned to food to tune him and his family out. And 3. I just didn't care anymore. Now, I care and I want this weight off and I'll have it off and keep it off with the help of a little friend of mine called "THE LAPBAND"

    clear liquid diet...help

Well I thought that I saw in one of the papers I got from the class it said protein shakes were fine, it even gave a list of the ones to get. I guess I need to look and make sure that's not for the 2nd phase. How are you feeling from your surgery?
  14. MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH

Can you still have soda's after being banded?

I was asking the same question myself. I was told that anything with carbonation is a BIG NO NO. I even ask if I shook it up to make it go flat if I could drink it and still a big no no. Try the G2 from Gatorade. I tried it for the first time tonight (fruit punch flavored), I love it. Maybe you will too.

    Pre-op

Well, I had my Nutrition class yesterday (Aug 13th) and had all my pre-op done. Guess what, I started getting a bad headache and sore throat yesterday too. I wake up this morning and still have a sore throat but no headache. The N.P. at the surgeons office thinks that it is just my allergies and I sure hope she is right. If my throat isn't any better but this afternoon, I'm calling my family doctors office and making an appointment to make sure it is not anything other than my allergies.
  16. MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH

    Pre-op

You know, I keep reading about all these people being on a liquid diet before the surgery but my doctor didn't put me on why. Makes me wonder why he didn't. So, no, it isnt ketosis i think it is just my allergies.

    Doctors

OK anyone from TN use Dr. Boyce out of Knoxville? He is doing my surgery on the 18th?
  19. Hey everyone. This may be more of a blog thing instead of a thread but I am needing some serious help here. It is now 1 week and 1 day until my surgery date. It's 12:11 a.m. and I can't sleep. I am so nervous right now, that I am just about sick at my stomach. I want so bad to have this surgery. I look at the before and after pictures of the men and women on here and I can just picture myself thin again. I can see myself a happier person, a better wife, and a better mom. I don't want to be afraid to look in the mirror anymore because I know that when I do, I will feel nothing but disappointment in myself for letting my weight get so out of control. So what's with the butterflies you may be wondering? Well, basically, I am worried that I wont wake up from the sugery. I have said this before but the only thing worring me is blood clots. Here, I am. Other than my weight, I am healthy. My doctor and his nurse was surprised that I don't have high blood pressure or any other health condition caused by being overweight. I don't drink or do drugs but I do smoke (I know, I should quit and I want to but it is really hard). I was laying in bed with my husband before getting on the computer to write this and just about broke down crying cause I am so scared. He tells me that I shouldn't worry that everything will be fine. That in a few months I'll be down alot of weight looking for new cloths and running circles around him. But I can't seem to get this fear out of my head. Has anyone else gone through this? I mean it is so bad, I have had thoughts about canceling this surgery, yeah, it's that bad. Can someone please help me out here? Can someone please say something or do something to calm me down? Is there some kind of test that can be done to make sure I have no markings in my blood for blood clots or what? This is so frustrating, here I am 1 week away from doing something that will make me feel so much better about myself and I'm so nervous that I can't stand it. What's wrong with me?:crying:

Butterflies getting the best of me!

Thanks alot, I feel a little bit better now. I have my pre-op testing Wednesday, I think I'll ask the nurse for something to help with the nerves.

OK, I'm suppose to say my name and age, gender and where I am from, my weight now and what I want my weight to be, and few other things. So I will, I just hope I don't bore anyone. My name is Stacy, I live in a small town in SouthEast, Tennessee and I just turned 30 last month. I have been married to a wonderful and supportive man by the name of Mark, for 4 months. We have 4 beautifull and wonderfull children. 2 are his from his previous marriage and 2 are mine from my previous marriage. I am a Certified Nursing Assistant that at the moment stay home with her disabled daughter to take care of her. I hope to soon be able to enter back into the workforce. I currently weigh 264lbs (SHHH) with a BMI of 46.8 By the time it's all said and done I hope to have lost down to atleast 145lbs. I am scheduled for my lapband on August 18, 2008 while I am so happy and excited to be having this finally done, I am very nervous over having it done. I'm sure everyone that has had this surgery has went through the nervous spell. I hope this is enough....

    what can I eat?

OK guys and gals. My surgery date is 1 week from this coming Monday. I am going 2morrow to buy grocries for the family and have decided to go ahead and by some stuff for myself. Only thing is, I'm not sure what to buy. I have heard that I will be on clear liquids and this is fine by me. Can someone help me out on what I can get. Can I get like jello and cream of chicken soup or what. Chicken Broth comes to mind, I can tollerate it, but I don't exactly love it. If anyone dont mind, can they give me a few ideas of what to pick up. Also, what can I drink, apple juice, is this ok or what? Help me out here please.
