  1. Hey all, I just wanted to kind of get the consensus of the community on my progress. I was 429 the day of surgery and am now 379 (that's 50lbs at 2 and half months) and am feeling disappointed for some reason. My wife says it's good progress, but I've seen online where others have had more lbs lost. Should I feel disappointed or am I still doing sorta ok?
  2. Hello everyone, I know that you've all seen a post like mine before. I'm exactly 9 days away from getting gastric bypass surgery. I've tried so many other things and have failed over the long term to keep off my weight. I'm at 436 (was 445), but the diet they put me on helped me lose a few pounds. I'm very, very anxious about the surgery. My mom had the surgery years and years ago when it wasn't as perfected and it didn't go well for her. She lost weight but had a ton of complications. My fear isn't really surrounding post op activities, but rather going through the surgery itself. I hope none of you think less of me, but I'm terrified. I'm even having nightmares about it. My wife got the sleeve a year ago and she didn't have outrageous pain or anything. She was quite doped up lol. I'm scared of going to sleep and waking up in immense pain. I guess that's the jist of it.
  3. So, I'm officially a month and a half past my surgery date and on a regular diet. Does anyone else have frequent flatulence? It's really bad. Like, it seems that I'm trying to go to mars or something. I've got more boosters than a space shuttle. Is there anyway to tone it down or does it stay like that? Also, I can finally wear a seatbelt in my car, I couldn't do that before!

    Having second thoughts.

Things are really swell. I'm on a regular diet and doing great with it. I am suffering from flavor fatigue from the protein shakes though. Also, I can finally get my seatbelt to fit me in the car! So happy.
  5. Hey all, I had surgery on 4/16 and everything went really, really well. I'm on full liquids for the next couple of weeks. I found something odd though. They kept telling me in the pre op program that my stomach would be so small that I would need to sip all day. The thing is, I don't. I still drink good amounts of water at a time with no consequence. My surgeon didn't mention anything post surgery, but it's leaving me a little curious. Has anyone else had something similar happen? I'm worried that a bigger tummy is going to lead down the road of bad choices again.

    Bigger stomach?

Thanks for the response! I did have the bypass. That explains it. When my wife had the sleeve, she had a lot more trouble intaking fluids. I guess I should be thankful that my swelling was worse than it could be! I do get hiccups if I drink a certain amount at a time. It's like I can feel my whole stomach move with. Kinda strange feeling!

Just wanted to update everybody. I did it! I did have some pain right after the surgery, but the nurses gave me something that really worked. I haven't had a ton of pain since. I'm doing good with my fluids and am now 411. I was 429 on the day of surgery. It's awesome!

A huge thank you to everyone who has replied so far. It really comforts me to not be alone in this process, as I have been this entire time. I should've came onto hear sooner! Thank you.
