    Anybody Around Dayton Still Here?

I live just about 15 minutes north of Dayton. I've been banded since Sept'08 and I've done horrible since having my baby almost 10 months ago. I'm starting over again. Going to get a fill tomorrow and would really LOVE to talk to people who are in the same area (generally) and who understand the struggles with being banded.

    1st Fill

So it's been 4 days since my 1st fill. I've been a little busy, but I wanted to pop back in and let y'all know my fill was great. I was able to see & watch what all they were doing, and I didnt feel anything, IT DIDNT HURT! YAYE!!!! I was a bit worried about it. I had about 1.5cc ...but now I have 4.5cc feeling good, eating good, noticing restriction, but THANK GOD, I'm not having any food intolerances. Hope this will help someone... Thanks for walkin me through mine =D

    1st Fill

I had surgery on 9/30 and I go for my 1st fill tomorrow! (10/28) Not gonna lie, I'm a little nervous about this. I was down 28lbs@ 2wks post op, so from the 2wks pre & 2 wks post I was pretty happy about that, but that last 10 days or so, man I've been a HUNGRY monkey! I called & talked to one of the girls at the office, she stated this was norman, that ll my swelling was gone & I was ready for a fill. Man it couldnt come at a better time. I've noticed I've put on 3lbs, and I was so feeling like I had 'failed' the band. So, I'm gonna get my self motivated again, and see bigger changes by the holidays, especially Christmas! We've come this far! We can do it! =D ....right?lol....
  4. Hey ... Thanks for reading my issue lol I was banded Sept 30th, I done ok the first week and into the second. But today is 3weeks post op, and I think I'm eating too much. I'm really trying to use 'will power' (Lord help me there) and I think I'm too hungry. Is that normal? I have my first fill next tuesday, so I'm really hoping that I can get this thing under control. The week after my surg, I stepped on the scales and it showed me down a fair amount then lately it's showing me gaining. I am having my husband hide the scale as we just bought it and I'm already obsessing over it. Is it normal to gain something before your first fill? Is it normal to not feel any type of restriction at all what so ever? I'm feeling quite clueless and I dont want to be afailure at this. Thanks in advance for your help!!!!
  5. We often tell people to use babyoil... and I've used the babyoil. But I had a brain fart with my band and didnt use it LOL Congrats!!!
  6. Ok, I was banded 9/30...since then I can only sleep (If you want to call it that) in the recliner on my back...When will I be able to sleep in my own bed again? :confused:When will I be able to sleep on my side again? Is this all normal, or is it just me? I have back issues, so it's really irritating to me... THANK YOU! I just want to rest... I need to rest! :blink:My husband has been amazing sleeping out on the couch next to me, but neither one of us are resting. We also have a 2yr old, I'm not doing so well with this crappy sleep thing. THANKS GUYS!
  7. Diana,

Hi, I wanted to pop in and say hi to ya. I also wanted to say you seem to be a christian in some of your wording of things... (I'm a christian, I'm currently a stay at home mommy) I wanted to encourage you along this journey, I was banded a week ago today... I'm doing great, I feel good, I slept in my bed and not the recliner for 2 night now, WOW, I'm happy. I have an amazing little 2yr old and keeping up with her requires energy... and I'm already starting to see a little more energy... maybe it's mindset, but I believe it to be God stepping in and carrying me & showing me how to use this tool.

Hang in there, the chest pain can cause alot of discomfort, but also know it's only temporary!

    Best Wishes!

    Marcie

    4 days Post Op

Nope you're not alone! Walking helped me get rid of the tightness in my chest. That stupid pain would get me when I'd go to lie down and rest... But I'm a week out today and doing GREAT!
  9. Hi Julie!

I'm actually doing pretty good.. still dont sleep worth a poop lol

I am sooo with ya on the gas & feeling air in the left shoulder! Errr, it's driving me nuts! Today was by far my best day yet! Spent time outside with my hubby & our daughter working in the yard...

Starting to feel like me again... I was bad lol I bought a scale today at walmart... I'm down 24lbs from 3wks ago!!!! I'M SOOOO EXCITED!

    We're gonna do this!

  10. Hi Chris! I too like you and Maranda was banded on 9/30, and also like you keep comparing this to my csection (though I only have 1 for now)...next to that, there's no problem, but man, I cant seem to get this all right in what I am 'supposed' to be doing. I feel like I've lost my head somewhere in the game!

So I'd be blessed to walk this journey with some others the same date as me.

  11. AGH, I posted out of frustration and found this shorty after I asked my question...I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one feeling this way. I kept thinking that there was something wrong with me... Ok,... Deep Breath! Next time I'll take a deep breath & try to look it up FIRST! I'd be in the dr's office every day if it weren't for you guys! THANK YOU! (I still just wanna sleep though by-George!)
  12. I officially joined the band wagon Sept 30th. I was in the surgical center at 615, prepped and taken back at promptly 730, nice to be the first one in. I was listening to them as I moved over to the OR table then the mask, & next thing I know, Im waking up in recovery. I only had pain on the right side (and still 3 days later, my port area I'm assuming just feels really tight when I stand/walk) I was back home at 1045 (there's an hour drive there & back) so I was more comfortable to be in my OWN home... the 1st couple days I just slept alot, today I went out and took a lil walk around the corner and back.. I too forgot I could shower, and since it's almost 11pm, I'll just do that in the morning. I have that 'gas bubble' pain in my left shoulder that I would be happy to see go, and other than that, I guess I'm doing ok. I too am taking the meds as not to be a martyr, pain is pain, and it's not going to make me a more successfull bandster if I do/dont take it. Our daughter had been with my sister (she's an active 2yr old) and my husband picked her and our oldest niece today so that I can have my baby home with me, but still have enough help as to not do any damage to my new installation. Sooo I'll be glad to get everything healed up again.. and when I can see the weight going else where. Best wishes to everyone...we made a tough decision... we CAN do this! (I may need to be reminded later too!)
  13. Oh yeah, and I was banded on Sept 30th
  14. I have the same tightness on my Left side, shoulder... I'm told it's gas (air from inflation of surgery) and then I also have the ugh, TIGHT discomfort when I stand up to talk around, just only on the right side, I'm assuming would be my port? My hubby's bringing me some gas x home from work, and hopefully that will help. Is this all normal?

    Any September Banders?

Maranda, Oh we sound sooo much alike lol! I refuse to own a scale as well! Also post op day 3 today. Just soreness on the right side only. I only have my 2week pre-op weight at a whoppin 326 (moo) So I'll be happy to see what my 4week post op weight is. Burping also comes easy for me, it's almost like indigestion.. that's the only real 'pain' and it's just the gas, so I need to go get some gas x.. Cant wait to see where we all are in like 6months! Best wishes Sept banders!

    Any September Banders?

Im set to be banded the 30th of this month... sounds far away but it's TUESDAY... but doing the medifast all soy extra protein thing is kickin my butt... Anyone with any tips? I've done it for a week already and only have a few days to go (2wks total) I've HONESTLY not cheated on it, but I've sadly skipped the soy products all together for something more tolerable... like water lol I didnt really ever remember what it felt like to be 'hungry' but now... good grief, I'm wanting to eat things that I dont usually even like... Am I normal??? I'm doing this and it's all gonna be worth it right???
  17. Hi Julie... just wanted to pop in and say hi since we're going to be banded on the same day, we can see how each other's doing =D

I'm excited. I am ready to live more life with less of me! =D

  18. Hello everyone, I hope your Monday is starting off well. Mine has just got a bit better since I found this site =D My name's Marcie, I'm from Ohio, I'm 29yrs old, I'm a Wife, Mommy, Nurse & EMT. As of right now I'm a stay at home mommy, and only was working 2 evenings a week (a couple hrs) then I had some herniated disc that left me bedridden, I know my weight was a contributing factor. I wanted to get my weight in check since I'm coming up on 30, and I want to be able to enjoy life more with my husband & our 2yr old daughter. I'm through all my dr appt's pre op and doing the ever so disgusting medifast liquid diet, and I'll be banded next tuesday. I'm so inspired and encouraged by others who have already joined the band-wagon and I hope to one day be able to offer the same encouragement to others. I found this site while googling c-sections and lapband. I wanted to compare the 2, My c-section was a breeze, so prayerfully this will be too. I'm really excited to be able to connect with others who are banded and no offense to the bypass pt's but that's not me, so I need more 'banded buddies' :rolleyes2: Hope to chat with you soon
