i have lost 4 stone but i am naughty and i have not done any excerise really but i know i need to really start now to help get the rest off. I am having a re program at the gym tomorrow which will have only 10 mins cardio and the rest weights and then i will run outside for the cardio as i hate doing the treadmill, bike etc in the gym its so boring and you can just stop when you want. At least you know that however far you go outside you have to get back! -

Hi everyone, seems like peoples bands are starting to work for them now which is awesome! Flirty congrats on the loss...wish i had lost 6 stone then id be done! I also stopped losing weight about 4 weeks after i had my op, i think most people do that as your body goes into starvation mode and holds on to the fat. Its important that you do make sure you eat enough or your body will stay in starvation mode as it thinks it must keep all of the weight as it does not know when the next meal will be or you will just have no energy and keep fainting like naughty flirty. I learnt from other posts that a good trick is to stay between the 800 and 1200 hundred calorie range but vary it on different days so your body thinks its getting a varied diet this seems to work for me. I started running today..i actually cant believe i can type that i have never run anywhere before now. It was slightly (only slightly) easier than i thought it would be but then i am lucky that i live in the country and the scenery is lovley and there are no cars or poeple to watch you. Flirty i am not on Facebook, stupid really but i never wanted to be on it coz of the photos and tagging etc. Everyone i know is on and i use my housemates so i dont have to set up a profile. Its ridiculous because i look good in photos now but its a mini goal for me once i have lost another stone. -

Hi Flity, sorry i havent been on in a while, my mum went through beaucare in belgium. I think with arms you have to carefull and choose a really good surgeon though to minimize on scars. I have been doing some research and there is the arm lift where they make a cut by your arm pit and pull the top of your arm up like a sleeve and cut the excess and then sow back up so you only have the one smallish scar under your arm. -

Hi mmm, no my mum went through beaucare in belgium (they only do cosmetic sugery not weightloss) not sure if they tighten muscles etc my mum had the tummy tuck because of us children rather than losing weight so i dont know if they need to tighten muscles also? Sorry i cant be more helpful i will ask her when she comes back from holiday. She also had a face lift through them the year before and i know that she is very happy with everything and would recommend them. Actually i think she has sent so much business their way with all her friends going that her next op should be free! -

The hospital would have the correct needles as i think they use them for anyone that recieves medication through a port system such as cancer patients (i think this is right not completley sure.) My port is really easy to access but some people have them under there ribs and stuff but even if they were not sure they could do it via ultra sound or something. You should wait and see what your restriction is like because you can get tighter for up to a week after a fill as everything settles down and thats what i normally find. If after a week your restriction is still good then there is no point paying for another fill when you dont need it as you will just be uncomfortable and out of pocket! I think most people that get an unfil are probably just too tight the next day when the fluid settles etc and then they find that they cant eat that well and everthing gets stuck. If you stupidly get as much of a fill as i did and you cant swallow etc then whoever does your fill would know straight away and take some out before you could leave! -

tantrum a Hi Wishfull I had a 1.5 ml fill (this is the problem when your mum does the fills because you can just have a tantrum and demand more than you should have, that happened to be the first time she gave in, so it just goes to show that your mum is always right!) so i had .5 taken out leaving me with 5.5 ml in total -

exactly thats why you are better off with small fills if you dont have some one to take it out for you straight away. I would not have lasted the night and would have gone to hospital to have some taken out otherwise -

Hi Everyone Just thought i would comment on overfills, i was overfilled last time and after an hour my mum had to take out 0.5ml. At first i didnt think the fill had made a diference as i sipped wated and it went down fine so stupidly i drank half a glass of water really quickly (looking back i cant actually believe i did that!.) The water got stuck as there was no where for it to go and i could feel it in my throat still, it was really painfull and in the end i pb'd it. I was still in alot of pain but wanted to wait a while to see if it was just inflamed but after 45 mins i was still throwing up the spit i was trying to swallow as it could not travel through the band (sorry for the graphic detail!) As soon as i had the liquid drawn from the band the relief was amazing... So there you go over fills are awful! -

Hi thanks flirty lass, you have also lost loads and with no restriction - i dont think i could have lost that much without any. mmm - i dont think i will need another fill but that may change. I want to loose another stone before my friends wedding on the 9th of may so i will see how i get one. My mum is a nurse and she does my fills for me so i dont need to wait for an appointment which is lucky! -

Hi i have not posted on here since my surgery in October but i have just come to the 4 stone lost mark so i thought i would today! I had restriction until January and then none for 2 months, i am now at 5.5 mils and i have major restriction and meat of any kind seems to be comletley off the menu for a while. I know only have 1 stone 4 pounds to lose before i have a normal bmi. Just shows that every one is different on the restriction front and when you have it you will be able to tell. I hope every one on here who is waiting for restriction gets it soon, Caroline -
sorry i a have not updated my ticker - i have lost 16 pounds now with a bmi of 34.5

Hi Nicole I have a Helioscopie band which is used alot in europe but i dont think its used in the US. Its pretty similar to the lap band used in the US but slightly smaller i think. Before i had the op my surgeon showed me all the different types of bands and said that he usually fits whichever one he thinks suits people best depending on their starting weight and stomach size etc so i said he could use whatever one he wanted! The pain is ok its only the stage between lying and sitting that makes me catch my breath a bit.. no i cant feel the band but i think i can feel restriction, not sure if it is restrication or the air still trapped in my stomach! I think it will take a while to relaise what all the signs are :tt2:

Hi everyone just to let you know that i came back from belgium yesterday and everything went well. I feel much better today and have lost 7 pounds since thursday. Dr Chris is really nice as are all the hospital staff. Chrissy i booked through Bridgette and had my consultation the night prior at 8 pm too and everything was fine and no one asked me about the pre op diet. -

Hi I am going to Belgium tomorrow - think i am more nervous about being in the right places at the right times than the op itself! I will let you all know how it goes when i get back. Thanks for the advice Englishrose, i hope that i can be as helpful as you have been to everyone on this thread! -

Hi Everyone I am due have surgery with Dr De Bruyne on the 1st of October which i booked through Europesurgery. I would like to know what the post op diet recommended to you was, although i have emailed Dr De Bruyne i have not heard back from him as yet and i would like to have all the things i need ready for when i come back. Do you have to drink protein drinks after and if so what did you buy? I have seen that lots of people have to have a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks and then mushies for 4 weeks etc, is this what Dr De Bruyne advised you to do? Also what size is the band you had fitted and did he partly fill it during surgery? I feel like i really need some advise as it it getting closer and i am starting to panic that i wont have everything ready!! Thanks
