Hi everyone. 5 days post-op and I'm feeling better everyday. The day of surgery I felt fantastic and then it was downhill from there. Gas pains, incision pains, hunger pangs...ugh! And I too was having a hard time deciphering which pains were which. I'm sorry some of you are still having a rough time. Just try to remember why you did this and that you won't always feel like this. Once the pain goes away and you feel normal again you'll be up and at 'em and knockin' that weight off. I guess I was one of the lucky ones in the weight department. I've lost 8lbs between the day before surgery and now. I still have pain in my left shoulder when I breathe in deeply and I can't get comfy. I've been sleeping in our recliner. Thankfully it's like a big pillow and has offered me some relief. I can't wait till I can sleep on my stomach again! Feel better everyone! My surgeon says that everyone right after surgery thinks "What the hell did I do to myself?!" It will pass!

Does everyone usually have to do this? My surgeon didn't tell me to do that. I have to be at the hospital at 7:30 am. Kinda wishing it was earlier like you guys...I know I won't be getting much sleep tonight.

I can't wait till the day when I won't be held back by my weight any longer. I used to be so outgoing and then I gained weight and now I never want to go anywhere.

This is kind of embarassing... I've never in my life ever had a problem with body odor but it seems now after being on the Optifast shakes for almost a week (thats the only thing that's changed so it's the only thing I can attribute it to) I have been noticing a smell...it's not a strong smell but I notice it. I asked my husband if I smelled bad and he said no. I think he may just be afraid to hurt my feelings. I shower every day. I always wear deodorant and my clothes are only worn once...even my jeans :tongue2: So it can't be that... I dont want to say it smells like a dirty person. What is reminds me of is how my step-brother smells. I think he has a chemical imbalance or something and he has always struggled with b.o. It smells like that only not as strong. Has or did anyone else go through this with their pre-op liquid diet?

3 more sleeps and it will be here!! I can't wait to see what time my surgery will be. I hope it's early in the morning this way I won't have to endure the agony of an empty stomach for too long.

I'm pretty pumped! Nervous, too...but pumped! I'm not sure what I'm down because I still haven't weighed myself in a few days. I will tonight.

Actually I was reading yours a little while ago! And I have started to read one other the other day. I'll have to check more out. Not much longer now!! Only 4 days till we get banded!

OMG! Very small world! I grew up in Coram. I was born at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson. I also lived in Florida for 5 years I've been back here for almost 12 years. I lived in Orlando and I miss the warm Florida weather  Yes, we'll def have to meet up! My husband and I moved to Yaphank this past August. I like it. It's pretty quiet but there's no 7-11! lol Oh! My cousin, who lives in Victoria B.C. was banded by Dr. Ortiz in Mexico in August. Is that who your surgeon is?

Omg liquid diet for 1 hole week!
♥Amy♥ replied to reginemichel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to do a 1 week pre-op diet but I decided on my own to do 2 weeks. If you can buy Optifast 800 shakes somewhere I would do those. You can have 5 a day so you're able to space them out more and if need be you can add an extra one if you really need it and they're pretty good! My fave is the chocolate. It tastes like Nestle Quik. Incidentally, Nestle is the one who makes Optifast. It's rough the first 2 or 3 days but after that it gets much much easier. You get used to not eating. I've lost probably about 11 or twelve pounds since March 10th. I havent weighed myself in a couple days so I'm not sure. I think that knowing Im doing this so my surgery will hopefully be less complicated makes it that much easier for me to not complain about the liquid diet and stay true to it. Surprisingly to the people who know me, I haven't complained once! Good luck! Just remember. It's worth it! -

Congrats on being banded! 5 more days for me. Including today. I'm on Long Island, also. Where on Long Island are you?

My biggest fear (aside from the obvious): I'll get sick and my surgery will have to be postponed. :cursing:

That alone is grounds for divorce!!
