What kind of vitamins do you take?

    I take 2 Flinstone's Complete chewables a day
  2. Hello, fellow Long Islander! :)

  3. I was also banded on 3/24 so congrats! Do you have a pool or do you have access to one that you can go to often? That would be the best thing for you. It's pretty much no impact and great exercise. Maybe swim a few laps or just walk around in the Water. It's great resistance and will be much more of a workout than you think and it will be much less painful than walking long distances.
  4. Im amazed at your success! 110lbs in 8 months?! How often do you work out and what kind of work outs do you do? How often did you work out in the first couple months after surgery? How many calories do you take in a day? I'm sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions but I so would love to be as successful as you. If I don't lose as quickly it's ok. I don't want to compare my losses to anyone elses but some advice from someone like you would be awesome! I'm sure you being young helps a lot and that's one advantage over me. I'm not "old" by any means. I'm 34. But I know my metabolism definitely isn't as fast as a 23 y/o's would be! :oP

Congratulations! You are gorgeous! Oh! And how tall are you?

    So Upset

I'm so so sorry you have to go through this. Your in-laws sound exactly like mine. My SIL isnt quite the terror yours is but she is no peach, either. I chose to be upfront with them about it because I knew it would come out somehow and even though I didnt think it was any of their business I still told them anyway. I know you cant go back and undo what you did maybe you should sit down and have a talk with them and explain why you didnt want them to know. Maybe not the truth about that but something that will make them feel less like they were being lied to for other reasons. I WISH I could have kept it from mine. If I knew that they would never find out one way or the other I would have. My hubby and I went through the same things you and yours are going through. His family did not like me (probably because I'm fat and theyre judgemental. Emphasis on the mental ) and they would butt into everything we did. We constantly fought about them. I never ever asked him to choose between me and them but he did on his own at times and that caused even more problems because they were so sure I was telling him to stay away from them when I was the one saying "You should go visit your family" after one of the many times they insulted me royally. And he would say "No. Not until they apologize to you." One time he swore to me he wouldnt have anything to do with them until they apologized. And even though I knew they wouldnt and I didnt want him to cut contact with them because of that. I never wanted to come between them, it still hurt when he went back on his word and callled them just to chit chat and acted like nothing had happened. This was after a really hurtful set of words his mother threw at me. We ended up getting into a huge fight and right in the middle of it I said "You know what?! This is EXACTLY what they want. They're driving a wedge between us and theyre winning. This has got to stop!" so I got on the phone with his mother and basically told her "I'm not going anywhere. Either you learn some manners and we learn to get along or things are going to be really rough for the next 20 yrs because I love your son and he loves me and we're getting married whether you like it or not." and I added in the whole "If you knew me you wouldnt say the things you've said about me. You've never taken the time to get to know me." She said "Well you're always frowning when you're here." and I answered "Thats how I react when I dont feel welcome in someone's home." We had a 2 hour convo and I ended up going to their house for dinner after hubby left for work. We're not best friends now but I think she understands me and also knows I'm not going to take her or her husband's crap! Sometimes hubby standing up for you may not be enough. You have to let them know, regardless of what they think about you or your weight that you're a human being and you deserve the respect that you've given them. And as far as the SIL is concerned. I would just tell her to quit being such a bitch. It's not pretty. And it must be lonely being her. Sorry that was such a long post but yours reminded me of what I went through with my in-laws. That was the extremely condensed version. LOL I could sit for hours and tell you about the Hell they've put us both through. But it's pretty much over now. Thankfully. Once in a while I have to do a little maintenance but other than that it's been good. I wish you lots of luck with this. You deserve to be happy and try not to be so mad at hubby. Look at where he comes from. He may be wonderful but he's going to make some mistakes. Look at the example he's had. Sit him down and calmly explain why you're upset and if he gets angry at you try and explain it so he gets it. Tell him to put himself in your shoes and maybe use a different scenario as an example. *HUGS* You'll get through this and just let him know that this is a tough time for you and you need him. The cat's out of the bag and there's no getting it back in. Time to forgive, forget and move on.
  8. Congrats!! I can't WAIT to be where you are!
  9. I'm 3 weeks post-op tomorrow and I'm still wearing sports bras as much as I can get away with. When I have to wear a regular undewire I just put a bandaid over the incision that's right near where the bottom of the underwire sits and I put it vertically so when the wire rubs the band aid will be half under the bra and half out and it wont get all bunched up or rubbed off.
  10. I think I slimed for the first time yesterday. I was eating some tuna fish and it was kinda dry and I probably didnt chew it enough. I started getting this pressure in my chest and I started spitting up all this thick, foamy saliva and a tiny bit of tuna fish came up. That was NOT fun.
  11. Thanks for your response, Denise! It was really helpful!
  12. Thank you! That all makes so much sense. I'll be patient with my fills. :cool2: Thanks so much!!
  13. Hi everyone! Well I'm now in my 3rd week and feeling AWESOME! I'm down 25lbs all together with pre-op diet and post-op weight loss. I just scheduled my first fill which will be at 10:30 am on May 7th. I'm excited! A friend of mine who had his surgery done by the same surgeon before me and is down over 100lbs since April 15th 2009 (he reccommended her to me) says if you're a little firm about it she can be pretty liberal with fills. In the opinion of those who have had a few fills already, should I go easy the first time around or should I try and get good restriction from my 1st fill if I'm able to? Not sure how this works. I dont know if that is something that has to be worked up to or if it's something that is ok to shoot for right away, as long as the surgeon is ok with it...
  14. I'm feeling good! Once my incisions are healed I'll be 100% :)

  15. I'm 2 weeks and 2 days post-op and I lost about 15lbs on my pre-op and then 7 on post op between day 1 and 4 and now I'm stuck at 22-23lbs lost. I'm not worried about it because I know it's normal and once my body is adjusted and I kick up the exercising a bit, which will start tonight, it will start to come off again.
  16. I can't call myself a success story, yet but I have been overweight most of my life. I was dragged to WW meetings as a child. I even went to a WW camp in The Poconos for a few weeks when I was 12. You know that Fat Camp reality show they had on MTV for a little while? Well that was where I went. Now that guy Tony owns it. He was there when it was the WW camp, Camp Colang. I've struggled my entire life with my weight but I know this time is different because I see so many ppl here who battled with their weight their entire lives just like me and are now finally getting to see what it's like to be a "normal" weight. And they're keeping it off. It shows me that I can do it for good this time, too. I'm so excited! I'm 2 weeks post op and 23lbs down and I know that's 23lbs gone for good!!

Just did a self fill wow feel awesome

I have a feeling this person is a troll.
  18. Honestly...I know my husband loves me to death but he has never had a weight problem so he doesn't know what any of this is like and I just wish he would have told me "no" on the times I've wanted to gorge myself on things that were no good for me. He didn't want me to be mad at him but what he didnt realize was that I would have gotten over being mad and I would have thanked him afterwards. I've tried to explain to him that I am no different than a drug addict or alcoholic. food was my drug of choice and I would equate me asking for Mickey D's or Burger to an alcoholic taking a trip to the liquor store but he just doesn't get it because he doesnt have that problem. And if your wife truly wants this I wouldn't worry about her being mad. One day she will thank you. Kudos for telling her no. If she doesn't realize it right this moment she will later realize that you did it because you love her and know what she is going through.

    1 Week Post Op...some concerns

Oh and btw...all of that is normal and it will all go away, except maybe the noises. I still have a hard time (I'm 2 weeks post op) telling the difference between my stomach grumbling because I'm hungry or the weird noises it makes now because of the band. And I am now able to burp like a bar stool jockey!

    1 Week Post Op...some concerns

I get that sharp pain still in my right side. My surgeon said it's intestinal cramping and may take a while to go away. When you're walking and get that pain try to keep the same pace and see if something starts building up. Does it almost feel like a pain you would get if you ate a meal and then exercised too soon?

    Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)

Why not? See if you can get optifast from your surgeon. It tastes good and you drink 5 a day, maybe an extra one if you need it. I did that and lost 19 lbs in 2 weeks. It's totally doable. If you do the Optifast the best tasting one, IMO, is the chocolate. The vanilla is ok and the strawberry is definitely an aquired taste.
  24. I wholeheartedly disagre with this statement. Taking the weekend off is a bad idea. You can have whatever within reason as long as it's not a trigger food. Meaning it's not one of those foods that if you have one serving you end up eating multiple servings and you can't stop yourself. For me, I pretty much know what my trigger foods are and as hard as it is when they're around I just say "NO!" because I know once i put my mouth around any of it I won't be able to stop myself. Maybe you need to just not give in to your sugar addiction. I know it seems tough and it is but if any of this was easy do you think you would have needed this surgery? Before you put any food in your mouth you should ask yourself if it's one of those foods that are going to do you in or will it satisfy you to have one small serving and be done.
