  1. How's everyone doing ? I'm so so so tired and cold the whole time ...
  2. Well done for finding what you could eat and making right choices... it's not always easy.
  3. So, I'm a bad example, I'm really proud of not drinking - It'll be 11 weeks without a drop of alcohol for me next Tuesday and I was quite a heavy drinker so I never thought I'd make it so far. The non drinking I'm proud of. However - I'm still smoking and I know how bad it is, but I just can't stop, I've tried nicotine gum, vaping, patches, therapy etc etc ... and also true to Parisienne form ... I still have 5/6 coffees a day .... and I drink the carbonated diet beverages. But I'm trying to be as kind and non jugemental to myself as I try to be to others and take it one step at the time... I never thought I'd be able to not have alcohol for so so long and so once the novelty of being sober drops off I'll try and reduce the cigarettes ... getting rid of caffeine will be last though, it's cultural here really and I work long hours and swap time zones often so I do use coffee as a crutch ... maybe one day I'll get that sorted but it's not an issue for now for me. My partner is a doctor, not a bariatric doctor for sure, but he's still good a good grip on biology etc ... I had the operation with out telling him and told him afterwards ... but he has said, as has the cardiologist friend he sent me to chat with that it is still better to be a non overweight coffee drinking smoker than an obese, coffee drinking, big social alcohol drinker smoker ... So I'm going with that and trying to tackle one issue at a time ....
  4. I've been having coke zero since 10 days after surgery. Slowly with a straw and ice after having stirred it a bit. It's been fine. I have quite a city life and am out and about with friends most evenings after work so I had to sort of choose what i would be ordering instead of wine and negronis and gin and tonics ans spritz ... so it's been a life saver for me, I just order a coke zero... My clinic is 100% against sodas too ... but hey something had to give ...
  5. I'm fine walking on flat but hills take it out of me ! Even the slight hill up from my metro stop to my appartement I'm finding tedious!
  6. I'm finally home! My scales this morning say 76.3kg - thats 167.8lbs . I'm also 2 months post op as of yesterday. • Opération day weight 91.1kg 200.4 lbs starting weight • Current weight 76.3kg 167.8 lbs current weight • Weight Lost 14.8kg or 16.25%of starting weight 32.6 lbs lost • starting BMI 32.65 • current BMI 27.35 Now I just need to do two weeks of washing from Cairo and get back to the office here. But boy did I find my own coffee nice this morning!
  7. Oh no. Sorry it happened to you too. It's rough isn't it? I fly home tomorrow at last - but I have another conf coming up so will be home for all of 10 days before heading off again!
  8. How's everyone getting along? I ate too fast yesterday at lunch then had a horrible afternoon and am exhausted today.
  9. I’m not doing great on protein 40g a day max I reckon … no shakes. Need to work on that once I get back home on Wednesday. The thought of a shake makes me want to vomit tho … and I couldn’t even manage one falafel at lunch … don’t really eat meat. Maybe I’ll try eggs. Tempted by cheese but that’s just a calorie bomb…
  10. Welcome @gracesmommy2 ! I had my surgery just a few days before you on the 16th. Love your glasses!
  11. Happy to read everyones progress! I @LisaCaryl I feel you I'm still in Cairo so haven't weighed yet... I have no idea if I've lost at all this week or stalled or gained. Ramadan is over now so it'll be back to getting lunch normally etc, but I'm not sure it'll be a joy like it used too... even though I love the food from north africa to the middle east. Also Bit freaked that I have another week until I can weigh myself. @kissabeth It's so amazing to fit back into old clothes isn't it! Well done you. And well done for making it through the interrogation. @RonHall908 I know how depressing the stalls are ... but you've already lost over 100 pounds ... thats amazing I mean thats like the average weight of a 13 year old ... you've lost the équivalant of a teenager! @NickelChip How was the eclipse?
  12. I’m not counting macros calories or even protein - I just know I’m eating not a lot - even if I’m having to eat out for every meal I’m trying to make good choices and eat protein first - I think I’m way way off 100g of protein a day though! My doctors did say not to stress the protein too too much though and aim for about 80g most days. I’ll be back in Paris to weigh myself for my 2 month surgerversary but haven’t been able to weigh myself since last Wednesday which was 6.5 weeks post surgery - I’d lost 12.5kg which is 27.5lbs - I’m happy enough with that as I had a lower starting weight. I have another 20 pounds to loose to hit a healthy BMI but I know things will slow down weigh loss wise fast for me and I’d like to loose another 44lbs total to be back at my pre Covid happy/non near constant leg pain weight. it’s hard not having access to scales here and not being able to walk as much as I’d like because Cairo at night isn’t the safest place for solo female walks at night and I’m basically screwed to a chair in a conference center from 9-5 and night falls here at 6.15pm !
  13. I'm trying to be really careful because I'm in Cairo (Eygpt) for work and it's renound for people getting travellers diarrhea so I'm only really drinking bottled water. Also I don't have any cooking falicities ... might see if I can find a popsicle though tonight!
  14. Hows everyone getting on ? I'm abroad at a conference as so can't weigh myself - but I'm exhausted and struggling with all meals being communal. I'm feeling slightly miserable to be honest. My cysitis has sort of calmed down but I'm struggling to drink more than 2 liters (68oz) a day and from past experience I know thats the only way I will be able to get rid of my water infection....
  15. How are you feeling ?
  16. Hi @Beljer72 How are you getting along? I had mine 10 days before you. I'm generally fine but have very dry skin, am still quite tired and have had horrible cystitis for the past few days ...
  17. BlueParis

    What to take to hospital

A hot water bottle if you’re staying overnight ! mine was a godsend for gas pain
  18. HI all! @NickelChip great that you’re allowed to eat again. @Holly W. sorry to hear about the complications you’re having. I have had cystitis since the day before yesterday for the first time in years … I’m probably not drinking enough. I’ve got antibiotics but it’s a right bore. I had a five hour flight this morning from Paris to Cairo ( work conf) and it was excruciating… hope it passes soon!
  19. @Noelle74 Congratulations on your sons wedding! I'm also struggling with the one bit too many, and learning to eat slowly is complicated .... I've always eaten way to fast. Also, can I ask if any of you are still constipated and how you're dealing with it ? Thanks
  20. @Briss72 I don't have pain after one bite but when I eat too fast I deffo feel very very uncomfortable for the next 30- 45 minutes. I can't wait to start swimming again, the pool next to me is closed for maintenenace which is boring!
  21. Hi @Briss72 I had mine on the 16th! How are you getting along ?
  22. Hi @Holly W How are you feeling today ? @NickelChip No pain is good at least ... how are you holding up with being back on liquids? @RonHall908 So I'm might be betraying a secret of worldwide womanhood here but I think you'll find that most women use lotion all the time, everywhere... I certainly do am using Cerave as usual but my skin is scaly! I think @NickelChip might be right... maybe it's the lack of fat ...
  23. Thanks @LisaCaryl @NickelChip @RonHall908 For your support yesterday ... t'was a very angry day for me because it bought up a lot of the disregard I've had to deal with these last few years because of my weight! Today is a better day. I'm just off to meet my physio ... who will no doubt make me do squats but who also emailed last night that he'd found a list of fat friendly doctors in my area for me ... Also I'm a metric girl... and I've hit below 80kg - I'm 79.6kg this morning (175.1lbs) ... and breaking that 80's barrier hasn't happened for me since 2021 so I'm very encouraged this morning. also I took liquid iron the parmacist reccomended no problem at all... and she mentionned my visible weightloss in a very chic, discreet and also commercially savy way ... bascially asked me if I wanted to get myself a new lip gloss or shampoo at the pharmacy too... I asked her why and she said with a smile "to congratulate yourself on these little changes you seem to be making" . She won, I got an expensive pharmacy face cream... 🙂 Do you folks have very dry skin? Mine is really not great at all... especially my legs.
  24. I think the OP means into the 60kg range (basically under 150lbs!) not in their 60's age wise!!! But I agree the weight loss is phenomenal and inspiring! well done @Megan Black
