I decided in the spring of 2008 to get healthy. I have previously had trainers, and nutritionists and tried other diets without them seeming to work.  I am a part of a social group that caters to heavy women and the men who love them.  Recently, I have talked to a bunch of women who had lap band and were ecstatic with their results, and looked fantastic.  This spurred me on to have the surgery myself.  After going through all the pre-surgical appointments, my request for pre-certification was sent in and finally the insured denied me on 10/30/08. My mom went into hospice care on 10/31/08 and subsequently passed on in December.  My Dr's office submitted my appeal on 8/11/09 (I needed to get my head back in the right place), and insurance approved me on 8/19/09. I only wish my mother was here to see me achieve what I never could when she was alive. Regardless of where I am, or where she is, I know that she loves me and is proud of me for taking this step to bettering my life!
