Looking for Expert Guidance and Wisdon

I found the new whey protein vials at DPSnutrition.net for 23.95 a case or if you buy 3 or more...22.95 a case. They're 32.75 at bariatriceating.com. -
For those of you who chose the band with a BMI <40
Miper70 replied to brittu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What kinds of co-morbidities do you have? Don't let these people scare you away from trying to get it covered. All you can do is try. I tries and tried, but my insurance didn't cover band at all. I ended up going to Dr. Ortiz in Mexico which costs about 8500.00. I had a BMI of 35-36 also. -
Well, that mental picture you were talking about....I have exactly that. I had TT back in November along with lipo of upper abs. My port sticks out so bad. Dr. Ortiz said when I hit my goal, I can have it moved to under the muscle, but he never said anything about removing it. NO WAY! The way I look at it is the lump I have on my belly is WAY worth it to be able to lose weight. I have no idea what it's going to look like when I lose all the weight, but as of now, I don't care very much.

The biggest reason why I'm glad I got a band rather than RNY
Miper70 replied to vluckey's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hamu, Just so you know, Dr. Ortiz in Mexico does RnY to lap-band patients all of the time. I'm not quite sure what he does, but you could call and find out. http://www.obesitycontrolcenter.com/index.html -
What I feel under the skin "is" my port, not scar tissue.

I was telling my husband the same thing. She looks really good even if she's not to her desired weight. She's always been the prettiest one anyway, I don't care how much she weighs.
-
Look at these pictures of her....WOW!!!! http://www.heart-music.com/gallery/gallery.asp

I had an 8 hour trip home also. It wasn't that bad. I would definitely get an aisle seat like the last poster said. I also grabbed a bunch of blankets and rolled them up...used them as pillows. It's worth it......this band is awesome.

Thanks! I've tried quite a few of these. Some aren't so, so bad. The isopure is ok. The peanut butter thing really works too. YUMMY!!!!!! -
Eating Too Much After Band But Before First Fill !!!
Miper70 replied to raf sou's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I seem to be doing the same thing. If I eat the small amounts, I'm hungry again in an hour, then want to binge. If I eat a little more, it satisfies me a little longer. I hate this no restriction stuff. This has been so hard for me. I also can't seem to find a protein drink that goes down without me wanting to puke. I ordered some samples and will be trying a couple today. Maybe once I find a decent one I can use it more as a meal replacement. -
Ummm. mine seem to come out the other end. I can't burp at all anymore, but don't get behind me.
-
Danielle, I so feel for you and I can say that I was thinking exactly what you wrote in the first thread. I have been eating "regular food" as in crackers, tuna salad etc. since last week and I was banded a week earlier than you by the same Doc. I was eating egg drop soup WITH eggs when I was 5 days out. I was also eating grits, creamy soups and mashed potatoes. My fill surgeon which I met last week says it's ok as long as you can handle it. He recommends eating (and I'm 17 days out) ground beef, soft chicken, and whatever else I can chew up well. I'm taking that advice and running with it. Doctors in other countries, who have been doing this alot longer than the Doctors here have people eating mushies at 4-5 days out. That tells me something. I have no restriction and can eat just about anything I want and as much as I want. I don't do this, but I could. My main goal since the hunger hit was to stop the hunger pains, but stay within reason because I don't want to have to start from scratch when I get my fills. I eat small amounts (just enough to get rid of the hunger) and drink lots and lots of Water or crystal lite. This is how I do it, not what was recommended by Dr. Ortiz. Just listen to your body. Good Luck! Michele

Oh boy, do I feel the same too. I have never had any kind of restriction. Yesterday I caught myself grazing. I was eating anything and everything I could find (mushy stuff of course). This is very frustrating. But, I go see the surgeon that's going to take over my case today and I've heard he gives fills at 4-5 weeks. I have my fingers crossed.

I look sooooo forward to the day a lean quisine dinner fills me up. To me, that would be the ultimate....no measuring, no weighing, just pop it in the microwave and that's it.

I've been asking about this since Tuesday. It feels exactly like a baby gets it's foot stuck in your ribs. I couldn't take a deep breath...couldn't cough.....couldn't sneeze. It hurt soooooo bad. I had accidently swallowed a piece of gum, so I thought I had done it to myself, but now I see it seems fairly normal. Mine is a little better now, but still hurts if messed with..... like sitting on the couch with my side too close to the arm for too long.
-
Chips and Salsa.......Hands Down!!
-
They don't work very well for me either. I'd stick with the chewables.
-
I was banded in Mexico the 13th and I still don't feel really hungry. My stomach hurts from the lack of food and/or gas moving around in there, but when I look at food it doesn't bother me much.
-
Congrats and Best of Luck! I'm only 9 days out and 13 lbs. down, but I can say I'd do it again in a heartbeat!!!!!
-
I plan on getting a small tattoo when I reach my goal.
-
You know, come to think of it, this pain only started Tuesday. I had swallowed a piece of gum that day, so i was sure it had something to do with that, but it still hurts really bad even today. That's a very good question and something I never thought about. I'll try to look it up. My pain is on left side (low) also.
-
I have the same exact thing right now. It's hard for me to take a deep breath. I'm only a week out from surgery, so I was hoping it would go away. I've had alot of pain since surgery and it seems like I'm the only one.
