My fill Doctor here in the states told me Thursday that with all the research he has been doing, he has found that the VG band has WAY less problems than the others and more Doctors are going to start using them here. He said they're softer and fit better along the stomach. I don't know if that means they have been FDA approved or not, just repeating what he said.

THAT is SOOOOOOOOOO NOT TRUE!!!! You may have had a bad experience, but that doesn't mean they're all bad. My Doctor is one of the best in the field and has done over 3000 lap-bands. He proctors Doctors here in America. Hell, he probably TAUGHT your Doctor. People, don't let this scare you away from Doctors in Mexico. If you do your homework and pick the right one, it can be a wonderful, life altering experience. I would be more scared of a Doctor here in the states that's cheaper than Mexico.

No, he's making me wait until 6 weeks because he will be out of town between weeks 4-5. He WILL be here in 3 weeks, so I may see if I can get in at 3 if I have no restriction then.

We'll lose it again and hopefully this time it'll stay away for good.

I feel the same way. In fact, I NEVER felt any restriction at all. I was eating grits a week out and never, ever felt my band until last Saturday. I woke up early (earlier than normal) to go kayaking, took a swallow of hot tea and actually "felt" the band. I felt the tea go all the way through. It was weird. The whole cup of tea I felt it, but it then disappeared and I haven't felt it again. I get my first fill today, so maybe I'll have at least a little restriction. It's taking every ounce of willpower I have to keep the lbs. I lost pre-surgery and immediately after off.

I got it...looked it up. I would love to try something like this, but I always end up quitting because I can't follow what they're doing. Is this one easier? It looks hard!

I'm asking the same question. Are you sure it's not a 10cm band? Do you have the VG band or Inamed? If it's Inamed, then it's a 10cm band with a 4cc capacity.

Hardees big burger at 5.5 weeks out...is this a bad thing? I'm not saying I do this all of the time, but yeaterday my family and I kayaked most of the day and I was starving. I ate the whole burger plus some fries.

I get my first fill Thurday also. I CANNOT wait. It will be nice not to have to use so much willpower. I usually don't eat things like burgers. I haven't eaten fast food for years. I have to admit though...it was really good.

I don't think he does them under fluro.....he is only charging me 100.00. How would I know if something is wrong? Today, I haven't really eaten anything and stomache hurts a little. I am stressed which could be part of it.

My main concern is messing something up, but from what I have read and been told, it's mainly throwing up and PBing that causes problems. Right? I have never done either, so I hope I'm not screwing anything up in there.

I actually started taking some Phentermine I had left over a couple of days ago to help with my hunger. I have never looked forward to something as much as I am this fill coming up. I just hope I get at least a little restriction and don't have to wait until another one to feel it. When are you scheduled to get a fill?

Hi everyone, I was banded April 13th and have lost between 13-18 lbs. It fluctuates so bad I can't keep up with it. I never really had a strict diet to follow....did liquids for 4-5 days then on to mushies and regular soft food at week 3. I go for first fill next Thursday and can't wait. I have never had ANY kind of restriction and can eat anything. I'm looking forward to feeling at least some restriction and not have to depend so much on willpower to stop eating.

Some of the worst experiences of life were while I was taking Xenical. Boy could I tell you some stories. Oh, and when it happens (the orange stuff), it doesn't come out of your clothes. I lost so many things during that time period and I didn't eat very much fat either. NEVER AGAIN FOR ME!!!

I started taking my old Phentermine a few days ago to stave off the hunger. Idon't get my 1st fill until next Thursday, so just trying not to gain anymore weight until then.

mini-me What size band do you have? I'm trying to figure out what the average first fill is for the 10 cm band. I get my first fill next Thursday and am praying he is aggressive. I have already gained back 5 lbs.

Which Tricare do you have.....prime? standard? or tricare for life?

I have some that I was taking before being banded....I hadn't even thought of them. I have put back on 6 lbs. of the weight I lost waiting on first fill. It seems like I am constantly starving. Maybe I'll try them too until I get my 1st fill next week.

Well, so far, from everything I've heard, Tricare for life is on board, but not Prime or Standard.

Just wondering if anyone has been approved recently. I was told by my surgeon's office that Medicare is now on board and covering lap-band, so Tricare will also. I will find out soon since all my stuff was sent in last week.
