I live on a huge hill and just told my hubby I need a walking pad too cause I’m flat out NOT walking back up this hill to get home. 😂

WTG on your weight loss and the activity! Exercise is definitely something I need to work on. I hate it lol. Maybe try chicken salad instead of just chicken breast. Chicken breast can be dry, or maybe add a sauce of some type to it to help. 😉 good luck on your appt!

    February 2024 Surgery Buddies?

@BlueParis I’m sure you’re really happy to be home and WTG on the weight loss! @NickelChip I’m usually able to get between 60-70 gms of protein a day in with no shakes most days…..I eat a lot of tuna, Greek yogurt, buffalo chicken dip, and my new favorite is chicken pizza crust pizza. I also occasionally eat canned turkey chili with no beans in it for lunch mainly cause it’s soft and high in protein but a little different than what I’m usually eating. I’m definitely getting bored with my food choices but anytime I try and add in stuff I end up coming up short on protein and have to drink a shake. 🤢I use liquacel also. They gave it to me in the hospital and I prefer it to shakes. It’s 16 gms of collagen protein ( it is a complete protein and my nutritionist is ok with it) it’s super sweet but I just mix it with a little water and I’m good. @RonHall908 and I’m with you guys on the slow weight loss train also so it must be pretty normal although irritating. Lol @LisaCaryl I’m glad your nausea is getting better. Maybe you’d like the liquacel to help with your protein since you don’t eat meat. You can buy them in one dose packets so you could try them before you bought a bottle of it. I like the peach mango one the best but it is super sweet so not sure if it’s for ev1 but maybe an option for some of y’all needing a protein boost with no shakes 🤷🏼‍♀️ https://store.bariatricpal.com/products/liquacel-liquid-protein-1oz-packets-flavors?variant=5067375607845 heres the single serve packets but I ended up buying the multiple dose bottles directly from the manufacturer cause it was cheaper. https://globalhp.com/shop/liquacel-liquid-protein/

    February 2024 Surgery Buddies?

    Yay! That’s awesome!
  5. I definitely think having PCOS can be holding you back. I also have PCOS and according to an endocrinologist I had years ago, ev1 that has PCOS is insulin resistant. He put me on Metformin even though I wasn’t diabetic and it definitely helped me when I ate properly. We don’t metabolize carbs well and in my experience tend to lose more weight if our carbs are more restricted…..ie lower carb diet, staying away from simple carbs like sugar, noodles, rice, potatoes and sticking with complex carbs like whole grains and carbs from veggies and beans. Like ev1 else has said, everybody is a little different and you’ll eventually find what works for you. Wishing you luck!

Portion size question, 3 months post op

I think ev1 is going to be different and I know that different surgery programs tell you different things. I personally wouldn’t be able to eat 5 ounces of most foods at once, but I do eat smaller portions (around 3 ounces ) 4-5 times a day, but I’m not as far out from surgery as you are. I think if you’re losing weight, eating a balanced healthy diet, and comfortable, you’re doing well. I think you just need to find what works for you. oh! And make sure to drink your fluids. Dehydration can sometimes present as hunger but you really just need fluid.

@RonHall908 I use the Baritastic app also just to make sure I’m getting my protein in. And my weight loss is a little slower than I’d like but I’m also not an exerciser so I definitely need to work on that. I wonder if a few more carbs would help your fatigue, but definitely hoping your IV helps you! @LisaCaryl We’re definitely similar with the nausea. Things that I used to drink tend to make me nauseous now so I just started trying things I didn’t drink before and that seems to be helping 😂. I mean I drank tea occasionally but I was mostly just a plain water drinker at home and now 🤢 oh and yes ty to @NickelChip too for the PB2. I’d heard of it but never tried it before. I love the regular one and the one with cocoa and use them in my yogurt sometimes for a dessert like Ronhall908. Or if I must drink a dreaded shake I add the PB2 and it definitely helps.

Ty! I actually just went and got a new pair at the optometrist and was disappointed in them cause they were boring so I bought these online at zeelool and love them! And they were pretty inexpensive for glasses 😉

    February 2024 Surgery Buddies?

Ty! Yes we are! Some of that weight loss was pre-surgery, lost about 26# since surgery. I feel really good actually. a) I too need to stop eating before I’m too full like so many others here, I’m having a hard time with that. b) I was super nauseous for the first 3 weeks or so but was lucky in that my surgeon gave me Zofran for it. My Dr. cleared me to eat whatever (as long as it’s healthy) I want after my 1 month follow up and so far so good. My new favorite food is canned chicken crust pizza I make. It’s soooo yummy and gives me tons of protein intake with just one piece. c) I’m definitely feeling the stalls, I’ve had 2 (one currently) which is what makes me come see how y’all are doing and then I realize it’s not just me so that makes me feel better. It’s just so annoying bc I typically eat about 750-900 cal a day and my brain just doesn’t want to get why the weight doesn’t just drop off 🤣. I think it thinks I’m starving to death 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 d) I have on occasion gotten super hungry which I hate. I was so hoping that feeling was permanently gone but 🤷🏼‍♀️. It’s only happened to me 2 or 3 times so maybe I was dehydrated? That’s what I’m telling myself for now. I also have a hard time getting 64 ounces of fluid in but I try. And going back to the nausea thing….i just had a couple of suggestions that I’ve tried and have helped me, but of course ev1 is different. Even the thought of protein shakes now make me want to vomit, I do everything I can to avoid having to drink them. I try to hit 60-80 gm of protein a day. I eat a lot of tuna, chicken, Greek yogurt, the Only Bean roasted edamame beans and chicken pizza crust pizza. And use liquicel if I need a protein boost before breaking down and having a shake. I don’t ever take my vitamins on an empty stomach, I always eat light and fit Greek yogurt first. water makes me nauseated now. So I very rarely drink plain water. I usually drink decaf unsweetened iced tea and now add Mio to my water but I’m trying to integrate the plain water back in, I think it’s just some kind of weird mental block. And just keep in mind that dehydration itself can cause fatigue and nausea! Of course so can the vitamins were all taking 😂 Sorry for the vvvveeerrryyyyyy long post guys! And thanks again for all y’all’s unknown help. I wish ev1 the best on their weight loss journey!
