    Child Care And How Much?

I am an at home daycare provider. I live in a smaller city in Wisconsin. The going rate is $ 2.75 per hour for over 2 years of age and $3.25 per hour for under 2 years of age. A 40 hour a week child is $110.00. Now, my friend who is in the Madison area (30 minutes away) she gets $175.00 per week and others get $200.00 a week. Tracy

    Dr.C - Please advise

Dr. C - I have been banded since June 20, 2006. I currently have lost @ 45 #'s - I have had 3 bouts with in one month of the stomache flu - two days of puking/dry heaves followed by two days of trying to get sometype of sleep or energy level. I feel that I follow eating guidelines. I have no fills yet and did have a 2nd xray done to make sure everything is working ok. My surgeon has no idea what is going on with me - and is now threatening removal of my band. Have you heard of anything like this? Any advice? Thank you Tracy

    Dr.C - Please advise

Dr. C I would like to say that my vomiting is unrelated to the band BUT no one else around me is or has gotten sick and normally I am a healthy person. (I run an inhome daycare and none of the children have even been sick). I do believe unfortunately that this is band related. My real concern is that this is not a constant everyday sickness.(4days here, a few good days, 4 more days of yuck followed by a good week then again slam). I had a great week last week - energy level was coming back and then wham I get hit again. Is there something else that I should be conerned with or looking at? thanks Tracy

    Are you hungry?

Scott - I was banded on June 20, 2006 and as of today, I have had no hunger pains or desires or appetite. I did ask my surgeon about this and he said some people have this reaction after being banded. I think it has made the first few weeks of being banded easier. Good luck to you tracy

    June 2006 Band Crew

Hello everyone - Just checking in - catching up on all the posts..... Banded June 20th- Still no fill at this point. After 2 weeks of back to back stomach flu (if that was what I had) I finally decided to call my dr and get his input. No food and no fluids in one's system will knock you on your ass pretty hard. I did go see him on Tuesday and had to have another Barium Swallow/x-ray done to make sure the band was still in place. YES!!!! everything is ok. Now we need to keep me heathly - and hope the two weeks of YUCK are long behind me. I am struggling to get H20 in my system (I have always been a good drinker). Each day is getting better. Food is still a hit and miss at this point. I still have no appetite and do have to remind myself to eat throughout the day. I am pushing regular food but still tend to enjoy soup and some of the softer foods. The doctor was concerned about my weight loss (-40#s) but we are still blaming the flu that I had a few weeks ago - My first fill is now scheduled for the end of August - I hope all is doing well - gotta go drink, drink, drink Tracy
  6. My big WOW was - I went and bought an outfit that actually fit me on Friday night. (one good outfit that I can wear to church or outings -while I am on this weight loss journey). My mom came over on Saturday and I tried it on for her because I wanted to make sure it fit me - wasn't used to something actually fitting me. My 11 - year old daughter walked in the room and actually cried - and said I looked wonderful. She gave me the biggest hug and brought my mom to tears, too. She said she could tell her mother had a better shape under her clothes. Not this oversized baggy stuff that I normally wear. Tracy

How long is the down time?

I took 2 weeks off and even though things were ok after 1 week - I needed that extra week to get over the lack of sleep I had from the first week - and also to gain back some energy! Everyone is different and everyone reacts differently to surgery. (I had a bad reaction to the anethetics). There was a gentleman in my support group who went back to work after 3 days. Good luck Tracy

    June 2006 Band Crew

OK - you June Bandsters - I am beginning to think I am a freak over here - has anyone else experienced what I have since being banded. Long story short - surgery date 6/20/06 - started at 267 Surgery went great - I had terrible reaction to anethetics though. Dry heaved for @ 5 days after. 1 week check was great - my only concern was lack of appetite (if that really can be a concern). Doc said most people get that back after a few weeks. Finally, after 2 weeks of recovery - I began feeling like myself but again no appetite. I force myself to eat just to make sure things are getting in. I have no real energy level either. Last week Sunday - Wed - I believe I had stomach flu :sick (yes, fun ) and dropped 6 #'s. As of this morning - I am at 235 (a 32# loss in a month) again, I am not complaining! BUT - this not having an appetite is starting to bother me. I go grocery shopping for my family and come back with hardly any food. I try to eat things - soft foods at this point - on the verge of real food - BUT after one bite, I have no interest. Soup has been a regular food supply - and an occasional bowl of rice krispies in milk (my only :hungry: craving so far). I believe I go back in August 8th for my 1st fill - BUT if this feeling stays with me I will not get a fill in August. :clap2: A POSITIVE NOTE : I did buy a new outfit last night and wore it for my Mom and my 11 yr old daughter this morning - and my daughter cried. She couldn't believe how good her mom actually looked in clothes that fit - not the oversized baggy stuff she normally sees me in. So - anyone out there with no appetite. Thanks Tracy
  9. Well, yes, it is true. June 20th was the day. I did well with the surgery - but not so well with the anethetics (sp) . I had the dry heave  for over 48 hours. Meds just didn't help. I couldn't keep myself awake for more than 5 minutes at a time and finally started sleeping through all the nurses. The gas pains went straight to my back immediately. I had temp issues, too. I almost had to stay in an extra night BUT I managed (how I do not know) to sneek in some of my Water and finally was sent home after 5 pm. Each day gets better - I am trying not to sleep at all during the day - but damn, when the heating pad is warming up on my belly and nothing is on the tv - it is very hard not shutting them eyes for a few winks. All the bandaids have come off leaving the steri stips and looking pretty good - My belly is still puffy and I do have some pains lower back and in my neck. I have LOTS of hiccups and burps. (attractive). I also have not been on any meds since the day of my surgery. Dr. said my insides were the best that he has seen in a long time and that I had a cute little liver (now how many times have you heard that in your life. Not hungry at this point - trying to keep the water in - and adding things as the days go on - atleast I can stand being around other food smells - Even though you can't see it in my signature, I am down close to 20#'s as of this morning:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: . Go for my 1 week post-op on Tues. Thank you all for your helpful information prior to my banding - this site is just full of all the info you could need to make you understand what's going to and is happening during this experience. Talk to you all soon Tracy

I DID IT!! Now part of the band

Stella - had surgery in Fort Atkinson, WI ( our towns hospital) they will also do all of my post-op fills right there too. Doesn't hurt that Dr. and I sit at the sidelines of our kids soccer games together. As for the 20#'s, I was on liquid diet for 10 days prior to so that helps add into the good numbers. You're doing awesome too. Congrats and good luck Tracy

    June 2006 Band Crew

Finally was able to go down stairs to chat - I got banded on June 20th. The surgery went great - BUT the after was terrible. I had dry heaves for over 24 hours. They almost kept me there a third day. My reaction to the anethetics was bad all I wanted to do was keep my eyes closed and sleep BUT those pesky nurses kept coming in and wanting viatles. Only had pain meds the 1st 16 hours so that isn't too bad -but I am sore. Still dry heaving a little. that hurts the worst. Trying to sleep in bed....weird weird dreams - spend half the night in bed/half in the recliner - have the stiffest neck today. Had about 5 good hours of sleep - want a couple more today BUT afraid if I sleep during the day....I won't sleep well agian tonight. THe only good thing I got going is that the band is in place and all is well. The dry heaves have not made it slip - my biggest concern. My goal for today is to eat/drink a little more than yesterday - which wasn't even enough to feed a baby. Each day I do feel better - can't wait to get me back again so the band and I can start working together in my weight loss. Take care everyone that has been banded and good luck to those coming up - Tracy
  12. OK - I will listen to almost anything - except that screaming hard rock stuff. I love 80's music - Jachut - as for Jesus Christ Superstar - oh, my gosh - I saw that on tv about 2 weeks ago and have the songs popping in my head even today!! Jumping into the shower singing "what's the buzz tell me what's a happening" - someone please help me. But I do enjoy show tunes also! Currently in my truck I have Helen Readdy (I am women hear me roar), Gwen Steffani, Til' Tuedays (voices carry), Honeymoon Suite (gotta new girl now) and Trace Adtkins/Toby Keith, Prince (purple rain) and the soundtrack to Valley Girl. My husband makes fun of me because I have such a wide range - and do sing to almost everything and anything. Love that music - if its not playing on the stereo - it's on the TV. Tracy

    June 2006 Band Crew

Hello June Band Crew I am less than 24 hrs away from the band. I believe I have lost @ 14 #'s on this liquid diet -and honestly it hasn't been that terrible - I am having no hunger pains BUT do fight the boredum head hunger. I haven't felt the excitement yet - I still feel pretty calm. Hopefully I will not be a basketcase in the morning. My mom is coming to watch the kids tomorrow - so I am going to have her measure my body and then take the before pictures. I also want a few pictures with my children before I leave. I go in at 10:30 am and hopefully will get out @ noon on Wednesday. (need to complete a Barium Swallow and drink a certian amount of Water in 3 hours time before they will let you out.) I will come home to Clear Liquids for 2-3 days followed by 1-2 weeks of regular liquid diet. then the lovely mushy stage to follow. Here's wishing good luck to my other June 20th banders!! I will check in after I get back. Tracy

    What is your height?

Yes, I too am shrinking - I used to be 5'5" but now am barely 5'4". (they wanted to write down 5'3" at my first apt but I told them to try again). I was told for my size I should be @120#s. My goal at the drs office is officially 150#s. I would be very happy at 190#s. Tracy

    QUESTION for moms.. FUNNY

When my 11 yr old daughter started the potty training thing-years ago -we taught her the word vagina but told her it wasn't a word we used in public. (I could just hear it come out of her mouth in the middle of the church service or something) My DH had the hardest time with that word so he started calling it a "WOOWOO" -and that stuck for a long time. My now 3 year old son calls it a "peanut" because that was what "Penis" sounded like when he was younger and it just stuck. As for the have to have it in our hand syndrome - I told him last week he was going to break it before he ever got the chance to use it if he wouldn't let it go. I swear that peanut comes out to play more than it should ( after 2 girls this boy thing is very strange). One last story - the other day while reading posts, my son came down stairs to sit by me after his bath - of course naked. Being that it is cold down here I didn't think he'd last long (stubborn fool) but he snuggled up and we were comfy- me reading/typing and him yanking at the peanut (I didn't know this was happening) until he said "Mom, help, it's sticking again." yep, sure was - oh honey come get your son please - Boys. Eureka!

Shontel - Your post is almost the same as the discussion that I had with my mom today. I am currently on day #4 of the pre-op liquid diet and have been 100% faithful until tonight - I had to have 2 of my child's french fries as I was putting them out on a plate - after it was all done, I realized it was hardly worth it. (and I really didn't miss it) My mom was just checking in to see how the liquid thing was going - and I feel pretty good. I believe that I am down @ 6 #'s as of this am. I did tell her thought that my only problem is I am SOOOOO Bored :bored . Prior to the past few days, when I got bored, the first thing I would do is march to the kitchen to find something to :hungry: . this was a quick and easy fix most of the time - and a terrible habit. I told my mom that I couldn't wait for the kids to wake up from nap so I could get a few loads of laundry going. My mom laughed and said, "When is the last time you were excited to do your laundry?" I replied "I don't know but I cleaned 2 rooms on Saturday for a total of 5 hours - non stop scrubbing walls, floors, baseboards etc - when was the last time I did that?" I have now tried to keep myself more active throughout the day - I am a daycare provider so things have to be pretty simple during the day. I try to get on the floor and play more - read, play suduko during nap time and try to walk at night if not cleaning or doing laundry/dishes. (main goal to get off that couch to help make the boredums go away) Funny how 4 days of diet change and months of waiting for the band and can make you see the "REAL YOU you've become" and then get you completely excited for the REAL YOU that you are somewhere inside!!" I can't wait to make those new changes to my new life  - 6 more days until I am banded. Take care- Tracy

    June 2006 Band Crew

hey Lucy - we get banded the same day - good luck. I am now on day 4 of the liquid diet and down about 6 #'s as of this am. I am finding this isn't so bad - the first day was a killer but doing fairly well. I have been 99% faithful - I had 2 of my kids fries - it was not worth it though. Good luck on the 20th!! Tracy

Jobs...are you the human or the monkey?

Work - ah yes, what a screw job! I worked my butt off for this printing company. I actually LOVED my job and the people I worked with and had contact with daily. I didn't get paid that much but my enjoyment of my job and the people kept me going. Because of my inside sales/jack of all trades position, I had to multi task and literally run around all day to get my work done. Then the maternity leave came and I was thinking I was going back to my old job - with the same requirements and same amount of work. BUT NO they added a part time job to my full time job. The another position was to be done in the mornings in another part of the building and then my real job for the afternoons (by the way I'd like to know the butthead that suggested that I would be perfect for these combined jobs). With this company, you can not say no to their proposals without some type of negative reaction and even sometimes they tend to push you out if you don't do what they require. I tried to be as efficient as I could seeing that they were knocking my full time plus position sales job down to a 4 hour job and then I GOT SCOLDED FOR NOT DOING MY JOB IN A TIMELY MANOR. They finally saw what they did (after 3 months) and brought me back to my position full time BUT then I became bored because I learned to do everything even faster. The biggest thrill I got was when I quit. (I was there almost 10 years). They bout sh*t in their pants :omg: . I had 3 meetings with in the first 24 hours to try to get me to stay. And my answer each time was No, thankyou. It has been two years, they still call me at home to see if I am ready to come back and the business is down 50% since I left. Sad to say my BOSSES never respected what I did until I left. Many times I was asked what I did during the day, and even had to keep a day to day schedule for over a month outlining everything I did - again, thinking they could squeeze more into my day. But after I left and they had to replace me with 2 1/2 people, I think I did too much for way to little. This was my second adult job - first job was in printing for 9 years in another town and then this printing job for 10 years - same crap both places unfortunately. I loved what I did both times so I put up with poor treatment and bad pay and bad bosses- I now work out of my house as a daycare provider and enjoy what I do especially enjoy the nice tan I have going this year. I get paid more now than I did my last position BUT have more bosses in my life. I can't complain though - I have great children and great families. THANKS FOR LETTING ME RAMBLE ON AND ON AND ON.....:biggrin1: Tracy

    June 2006 Band Crew

Texas Terry- sorry you can't sleep at night. We have the same banding date. I feel rather the oposite of you - I went to the dr for my pre-op today and my blood pressure was at an all time low 123/78 - which is low for me. I think this liquid diet is mellowing me out or something -------ok, the work load has mellowed out this week too. I actually started with the coffee again yesterday though - 2 days without the morning coffee made me want to go to bed at 8:00 pm UGH!! Take care of yourself - try not to worry (yes, easier said than done). June 20th will be here before we know it. Tracy
  20. Margo - I reading your post and was thinking "those omlete/waffle eating bast**ds" - can you tell I am doing my pre-op liquid diet. Actually, my mouth was watering reading your descriptions....hehe. I haven't started band life yet, but am finding the frustration of not being able to eat - and smelling the spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread cooking in the kitchen for the family tonight. My husband not completely understanding the concept of "liquid diet". You are a great inspiration to "us non-banded" and I can only hope my band experience is as successful as yours. Keep up the awesome work my fellow cheese head. Tracy

If it were up to you, what laws would you create?

After working as a daycare provider for the past 2 years - my law would be..... PARENTS TO BE must take a parenting 101 class. I have had my fill of people that treat their dogs better than their children. I actually had one that rubbed her daughter's nose in her own pee because she couldn't make it to the bathroom in time. That poor girl has now been removed from her mom's home and is possibly going to be put into foster care - and this lady wants more children!! I say TIE THE TUBES !!!! thanks for letting me vent.... At our hospital, we stay over night and after the barium swallow the next am we are allowed to go home. Can't wait to join the June band wagon:bounce: .......talk to you all soon. Tracy

    IUD anyone?

I have the IUD also - I have the 5 year Mirenia. I am almost on year 4 and loving it - periods are no where to be found and so are pre-period moods . Yes, it did smartz for a few moments upon insertion - and did have bleeding for a few days after BUT it is a great thing - esp since I can not take the pill because of high blood pressure! I believe there is a 10 year IUD also. All I know is I want another one after my 5 years are up!! Tracy

How Are You Going To Meet Your Maker ?

While standing in line at a fast food joint, you take too much time deliberating on your order. A very hungry, very crazy man approaches you from behind and takes a large bite out of your neck. You quickly bleed to death. No more standing in lines at the fast food joints for me....... Tracy
