Support meeting is the 23rd....got another week to go

I also have a 10cc band, as of monday I have a total of 4cc's in it. Since my surgery I haven't went one entire week without being sick atleast once. I can't do anything spicy, meat is near impossible and what I can eat are too high in carbs. This was my 3rd fill and each time I get a fill I suffer for about 2 weeks. Then I can get a cup or so down without the nausea. I can't drink for about 2 hours after I eat or I vomit, even if its just a peanut..1 peanut. It feels like I have so much air inside me, I make these weird noises in my throat for hours after I eat. And often I get like a weird chest pain after eatting. Kaplan says either I am eatting too much..(i'm not) or not chewing it up good enough, or eatting to fast or eatting the wrong things....I hate being sick and try to go very slow when I eat and to chew forever so I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Started with a flu/cold from hell thursday so I am gonna lay around today and watch lifetime movies hahaha. Talk to you all soon.

Elizabeth, so glad your appt went well!!! My 1 cc fill was monday and today is thursday and I still can't eat more than a couple bites...I get instant nausea. My husband is like..have the damn thing taken out...your always sick....lots of frustration right now. I hope that in another 6 months I feel it was worth it. One great thing is that I quit smoking, today is day 206!! Talk to you all later, getting ready to watch Grey's! Theresa

Kaplan mentioned doing fills on wednesdays too....I have been pretty miserable since my fill yesterday...even with just liquids I feel like they stay in my throat.....I am trying to stick it out though...last time I had a fill they had to take some back out cause I couldn't even swallow my own spit, he said it was swelling from the fill and could I hold out another day and I was like NO....My belly is still very sore from yesterdays visit...but I am sure tomorrow will be better!! I tell you one thing....this has been alot harder than I thought it would be....hard not to get discouraged sometimes...I'll be glad when spring is here, good weather and garage sales always make me happy!! Hi Gang, I also had an appointment yesterday, it had been 2 months since my last fill, had 1 1/2cc put in in dec and had to go back the next day and have 1/2cc taken out..yesterday I had 1 cc put in for a total of 4 cc's so far. Kaplan seemed cranky and in a big hurry yesterday....I was told he would be expecting me at the feb 23rd support group....so guess I'll leave work alittle early and go....I haven't been able to go to Zumba due to my work schedule. Lost another 8 pounds....not as much as I thought but ok. I have went from a size 22 to a size 18 though. He says my port is alittle tilted and it hurt during the fill today. Well...hope to see you all on the 23rd....Theresa

Hi all..I also have an appt on monday at noon for another fill...felt nothing after the first one so hopefully I will with this one. Gosh..that port leak thing is scary....I hope to see you all at Zumba monday night...off to watch alittle TV

Zumba was fun...Met Kdlee for the first time. WVU fan was there..she is so nice too. Met Elizabeth last week..its nice to have people in the same boat as yourself, it helps when your feeling down or discouraged. They didn't do the twist last night so no port pain today..haha..off to work.....talk to you all later..Theresa

I called Jeanne this morning regarding no restriction and feeling hungry and she moved my appt from dec 1st to monday the 17th....she will eventually be doing all the fills maybe as soon as dec! See some of you all tonight at Zumba..Theresa

Thanks for the encouragement..it is tough sometimes to stay positive.....I go back dec 1st for another fill...so maybe with that one it'll be better!! Hope to see you tomorrow night.

so happy for your mom!! Question......... I had my first fill on thursday, jeanne tried and missed so Kaplan had to do it, they only put in 1 1/2 cc's....I feel no different, if anything i feel like I have more room to eat....is this normal? He said I had 2 cc's in there to start with....I am confused... Anyone going to Zumba tomorrow night, if so i'll see you there! Theresa

what do you guys wear to zumba class? I plan on going monday night and I'm bringing a couple friends who also need the exercise....I can't wait to go, sounds like so much fun.. I go for my first fill on 11/6.....will they do that right in the office? Does it hurt? I got in a pair of size 20's yesterday down from a 22..I haven't weighed since my 2 weeks follow up with Kaplan and have decided not to weigh until I see him on the 6th.....but I can tell in my clothes that inches are falling off..whoo hoo. I do need more exercise so with Zumba on monday..and then I'm gonna walk my granddaughter down at City Park on wednesdays and fridays..weather permitting. We also bought a bow flex but with my port area still being so sore I am holding off on that. Looking forward to meeting you all...and does anyone know if there is a meeting with Jeanne this monday as well?

Hi Everybody...Starting to feel human again!! Thank Goodness!!..I am going to go back to work 1/2 days starting tomorrow....doesn't take to much to wear me out so I think I'll go alittle slower than I orginally thought. This is day 7 post op....still on liquids.....not hungry though...so that part has been the easiest. I notice if I drink to fast I get really bad pressure in my upper chest so it is teaching me to go slower..even when drinking. My 5 incisions are healing nicely, only 1 of them is longer than an inch... One of them is pretty high on my belly and I think my bra may bother it, so I may have to go bra less for a week or so,,,,hahaha... I have spent the past few days looking at low calorie cook books and weight watcher cook books looking for healthy things to make that I can freeze and take to work..I work with 30 women and they are for the most part junk food junkies and fast food for lunch is the norm. After a few bad days I am back to being very excited and happy about this procedure..I believe it will be life changing. I would like to do that exercise class with you all starting next week, can you tell me where it is at..and how long until I can exercise, I see Kaplan on the 13th. Hi All, I've had quite the rough road this past week, surgery was monday the 29th. I have vomited everything I take since surgery....so I am miserable...can't take my meds...they make me sick..etc. So now I am on 2 sips of a clear liquid every 30-45 minutes..and so far today (friday) I haven't been sick. Jeanne thinks that it is caused by the swelling around my band and once the swelling goes down I'll feel better. I tell ya, dry heaves are noooooooo fun....I was planning on going back to work full time on monday but I may go back 1/2 days next week...I am weak and light headed. Got my first shower today..I know ...yuck....and still had to have hubby right there in case I got light headed in there. Not hungry really....My cuts on my belly are starting to itch so they are healing nicely. Will give you all a better update later today...Thanks

tomorrow is my day as well (sept 29).....so excited, nervous, etc.... glad the big day is finally here!! Good luck to all!

Thanks everyone, you all have been so helpful...I have had the poops..(hahaha )all day long, guess its nerves..but its been enough to keep me close to home all day!! If I receive no call from the hospital in the morning to move my surgery time up..I am going to try to keep busy..maybe clean out my car or something...I doubt I'll get much sleep tonight...so will probably be on here for hours later tonight!! I was wondering ...how long until I can drive? Lift? (granddaughter) etc. Getting anxious....surgery tomorrow!! I hope they call and change my surgery time, its scheduled for 5pm, I have to be there at 3....but nothing to eat/drink from midnight tonight....so lets hope surgery calls today and moves it up earlier in the day....

Tomorrow's the day!! Whooooohoooooo...Its been such a long wait and now its finally here!! I plan on doing laundry and making up found and freezing it for the family today, gotta keep busy!! Thanks for all the great info and I will keep you all posted!

Another Question....Does everyone have the same size band? If not..do you know what decides the size you get...and for Kaplan patients...does he put any saline in the band at surgery time or do you wait for saline to be added on your first fill?

Can you tell me where they put your port? I thought it would be on your side but reading on here it seems its closer to your breasts. Can you see it or feel it? Funny how I keep finding questions about this when I've been getting ready for months now!! Surgery is Monday...Its been a very long road but I am so excited!

Hi All, My surgery is MONDAY..whoo hoooooo...I do have a questions...on tuesday morning Jeannie said that I will have a test to make sure of band placement etc, can someone explain that procedure to me please..thanks

I was told after my endoscopy today that I had a 4 cm hiatal hernia and that the surgeon would repair on my surgery date for lap banding (sept 29), was recovery any harder since you had the hernia repaired? any additional problems?

Just found this site and was so excited!! My lap band surgery is scheduled for Monday the 29th of Sept. This Monday the 22nd I'm having the endoscope to look for any hernia's or other problems. I found that the best tasting protein drink is Adkins Advantage...didn't like Slim Fast at all. I also quit smoking for this procedure, today is day 61..go me!!! Gonna spend alittle time looking through this site, talk to you later!

Endoscope showed 4 cm hiatal hernia, Dr, Kaplan will repair it on surgery day ( sept 29)..has anyone else had a hernia fixed during their lap band...does it make recovery any worse?
