This is so exciting! Congratulations!:rolleyes2:

Hi all! I am so glad to hear so many sucess stories from the September Samurai's! I am not having as much sucess. I don't think I have lost any weight since my post-op visit. I had been walking since I had surgery until my planter fasciitis flared up making it very painful to walk.:rolleyes2: So I am not doing any exercises at this time. Even though my portions are much smaller and I am drinking lots of water I don't think I'm loosing as I should be loosing. I go for my first fill on 11/19 and hopefully that will help. I wish I had a better report but it is what it is.

PLEASE how do I get to the latest threads.

Thanks for asking I was wondering the same thing! -
Greek Yogurt is thicker and creamier than regular yorgurt. It has a whopping 22g of protein and 0g of fat in one small container. It does not taste that great (just being honest) but I can eat it no problem. I think it's worth it for the protein trade off seeing it's @1/3 of your daily required protein. I am going to start using the plain in place of sour cream as it has no fat! I sometimes eat this in place of my dinner when I fix something for my family I cannot or am afraid to eat. Stoneybrook Farms puts out a brand OIKOS they have plain, honey, and vanilla. I heard they have a new flavor blueberry I am excited to try. Walmart carries this brand in my area. It runs @1.50 a small carton.

Miracle cure for constipation...at least for me
sash replied to Losing_It_In_Texas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bridgett, I hardley ever had problems with constipation until being banded. I ate activia every morning with my breakfast and was very on schedule. Then I got banded and bam everything stopped! The activia didn't help. I don't know why but it didn't work anymore. Hummmmm....... I hate the "laxative/stool softener" kind of thing. So this is just excellent! I think Kerr sells an apricot juice in the can it is certainly worth a try! -

I'm with you on the prunes. Can't stand them! (that's an understatement) The apricots are just wonderful! I'm going to costco and buying a LARGE bag of apricots! WOO HOO! (I never thought this subject could be so enjoyable) -

I tried the dried apricots this morning and lo and behold It works! It really works! You have to try this! It's wonderful! I cannot believe how well it worked. I am so excited! No cramps, no gurgling tummy, no running to the bathroom like you get when you use laxitives or stool softeners! Just gentle relief. Thanks so much for sharing!:rolleyes2: -

Have any of you tried Barleans Omega Swirl? It is a Flaxseed Oil supplement in a smoothy form You take two tsp a day. I saw this in a natural food magazine. I wonder if it would work the same way? -
I was wondering if any of you more experienced bandsters might be able to offer a solution....... I am 5 weeks post-op and I have for about a week been having the most terrible gas pains at night. They are so terrible they are waking me up at night and are causing me to loose several hours of sleep at night. I am using Gas-X strips and walking when they wake me but since this is really putting a damper on my joy of being banded I thought I'd ask if any of you have experienced this and how you delt with it. My doctors office didn't have any advice other than what I'm doing so I thought I'd ask the people who might have first hand knowledge. I am miserable! Please help!

Thanks for sharing. This seems to be a common problem. Activia used to work for me but since being banded it does not seem to do the job anymore. It's definantly worth a try! -
Thank you I'll try that.

 That is fantastic Becky! I am so glad to hear you are doing so well. I am so encouraged! Keep up the good work! -
I Loooooove my Fitflops! I mean I love them. I have planter fascitis (sp?) and they have made it possible for me to walk. Period. Before getting my Fitflops I had so much pain in my heel I couldn't walk very far without being in excruciating pain. They have been a life saver. They are pricey but worth every penny!

Will I ever be able to lay down in my bed again?
sash posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on Monday 09/29 and I have not been able to lay down yet. I am sleeping in a chair and I am tired of sitting. When I try to lay down I have this awful burning in the port area. It sometimes takes my breath away when it happens. This also happens upon slight bending or twisting. I think I ripped the port out of place tonight! Is this possible? Is this burning feeling normal? Did anyone else have this happen? Any ideas? Help? -

Thank You Chicamam1, I appreciate your encouragement. I know I am one of those who takes a little bit longer to heal. I did call my Dr's nurse and she said that I should keep taking th Lortab at night a little bit before I go to bed. She said that it was all normal! She said the port was probably in tact but that it was probably the nerve endings that caused the burning. I am feeling a little bit better every day. Again, Thanks! -
I too was banded on 09/29 and am still having pain . Don't get discouraged. Healing takes time. I have been taking the liquid Lortab up until this am. I am trying to get by on just the tylenol from today on as I have to drive this week. If it weren't for that I would still be on the Lortab! Take it easy and hang in there!

I did this today; you have to try it! If you like cheesecake that is. Jello has a cheesecake pudding (SF of course). I used @3tablespoons of the chcake pudding with a small amount of strawberry (SF of course) jello and it was heavenly. I am sick of all the sweet stuff but this was really good!:tt2:

No fair! I don't get to have chicken salad! I love chicken salad. I can have egg salad and tuna salad. They are alright though. UMMMMM! I'm getting hungry! :tt2:
-
SF Pudding is on my Dr's liquid list. I have been eating it since the day after surgery (in small amounts) @1/4c a sitting (@1/2 a prepared container). I take it slow as fullness sneaks up on me and before I know it I am FULL! I eat it one lick at a time!:tt2:

sash replied to sash's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the ideas everyone. I did try stacking pillows in my bed and that's when I felt a huge burning at the port site. I went back to my chair. I am walking (have been since the minute I got out of surgery). That is okay it's the laying down I can't seem to grasp. My backside is tired of being sat upon. I'm doing okay as far as eating and getting up and down. It's just the laying down that has me frustrated. I am doing okay with the hunger. Trying to embrace it as my friend. I know alot of what I do in regards to eating is mental (at least for me) but a cheeseburger or taco :drool:would be just fabulous right about now! (Oh did I say that out loud?) -
I was banded on the 29th of Sept. I am starting to feel like I can move a little easier today. I'm getting hungry for real food! I am looking forward to mushies (I hate that word) next week. I am doing my 30 minutes of walking. I think this has helped with the "gas" issue. Anyone who says this is the easy way out clearly does not know what they are talking about! I still have some burning in the port area when I make certain movements. But over all I think I'm doing pretty well. I couild not imagine going to work yet. Thanks for Short term disability!

Just a FYI My Target store has marked down the South Beach diet protien pour in drink mix similiar to the K2O. They must not have sold very well! They were @ half price. The sale by date is 09/09 so they are not outdated or anything like that. They have a wonderful tropical fruit flavor and strawberry bannana flavor. Yummo!
