I consulted with Beltline Health for my journey and lifestyle changes.  They have been phenomenal in providing me with services and care thus far.  I was initially going to proceed with the popular Gastric Sleeve surgery.  However, I've had acid reflux problems for many years and learned that the sleeve could cause it to intensify to a point that medication management would be ineffective and result in me having to get a corrective surgery later.  Additionally, I learned that the sleeve surgery, yet very effective, would result in less weight loss than a gastric bypass surgery.  I therefore selected the Gastric Bypass surgery as my new surgery.  I was required, during preliminary steps for clearance and insurance coverage, to have an Upper GI.  Dr. Eduardo performed the Upper GI and discovered my stomach was full of polyps, due mostly from taking acid reflux meds for many years.  Dr. Eduardo recommended the SADI-S procedure and advised that a gastric bypass surgery would result in a section of my stomach being closed off and isolated in my abdomen.  If any of the polyps turned cancerous later in life, there would be no "easy" way to learn of this until it was far advanced.  That was enough for me to opt-in for the SADI procedure.  Now, a week Post-Op, I've learned that support groups, social media platforms, etc. are a valuable resource to help navigate this journey.
