  1. I’m six months postop gastric sleeve and have lost 29.2 lbs post op. I have been stalled or going up and down 6 lbs for the last 4 months. I have been eating 1137 cals 80g Protein a day on average. I work out three days a week cardio and weight lifting. I’m so so sad that I’ve not been losing weight as I have dreams and goals of losing 80 more pounds to be a normal BMI. Has anyone gone through this and made it out on the other side? I asked my practitioner to please help me by prescribing me Zepbound which helped me lose before my surgery. I really need the metabolic support, but she will not until I’m a year post op. I don’t know what to do to achieve my goal. I feel so broken and like my body is working against me. Age 37 5’3.5” Highest weight before Mounjaro 293 Starting weight pre op 243 Current weight 212 Perfect blood work just high Cholesterol (genetics)

lol yes, my body definitely has a mind of its own and wants me to be as big and fluffy as possible 😂 it doesn’t care about my goals. I definitely am open to not reaching my exact goal but my body is still carrying a lot of excess that isn’t healthy. I hope that the exercise and training helps with my composition and just want to be healthy to live longer and move freely! :)

I agree with you, I definitely feel so much better and in less pain! I just can’t believe for 4 months I’ve been in this stall when it seems that the first year is major weight loss for most people 🥺 I do have regular check ins with my dietician and have been following the advice they give and they also suggested adding some calories but it’s hard to fit in my stomach. But no excuses I gotta do it. Just frustrating and no one on my care team seems to be alarmed or offer any medications even though it’s been 4 months of this. lol

Thank you so much! I actually use Parrot Pal app to track my calories and it gives me an average each week of my calories and protein! That’s the number it generates for me from all my tracking, which I do pretty religiously. I’ll try adding a little more cals it’s just hard because I can’t fit in a lot each day. Thank you again.
  5. What’s the best insurance to have when you’re interested in having Bariatric surgery covered by insurance?
  6. Hello! I’m just reaching out to ask if anyone had worsening of their AHI after gastric sleeve. Mine has gone up at least 3 points since surgery and I’m 10 weeks out. My throat is a little soar all the time now too. Has anyone found a good thing to help this? Thank you!
  7. Has anyone experienced weight gain three weeks post op? To preface, I do have hypothyroidism and PCOS. I was down to 227 and I’ve been 230 for a week now. And the scale has not budged 😅 even after introducing more movement this week. I’m hitting all my protein and liquid goals as well. I’m intaking about 600-1000 calories a day. Has anyone else experienced this and does it get better?

    Feeling discouraged.

According to my post of instructions, we weren’t allowed to eat regular foods until 8 weeks post op. Maybe try to go back on pureed/soft. Then once you get to 8 weeks introduce regular food.

    Painful waves of stomach pangs

Thank you so much! Glad that it’s temporary too! :)
  12. I'm 7 days post op and after I drink or even just randomly I get this very painful wave of stomach pangs that feels like my stomach is in spasm. Is this normal for people to experience? Has anyone found anything that helps?

    June 2024 Surgery Buddies

    I was June 5th!
  15. Hello all! I am so upset at myself. I’ve been on my pre-op diet with no slip ups or cheats. I lost 9 pounds in 7 days. I’m now 3 days away from surgery and last night was my last day for allowed solids (eggs, protein bars etc) and I had two scoops of icecream. Immediately after I started to panic. I’ve been working hard and waiting for this surgery for so long. I am so scared I ruined my liver. I’m scared they will cancel my surgery. I immediately drank so much water and felt sick. I took my metformin too that I have for Pcos. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Will this ruin my surgery? I’m definitely not going to do this again. I can’t believe I made this mistake.

    Help, pre-op mistake :(

Thank you so much @NickelChip for your great insight and information. It’s super helpful and calmed me down a lot. You are absolutely right and it’s something I need to think about and not set myself up for failure by being too restrictive. I was thinking because it’s my last opportunity for solids it would be my last chance to eat that because I had planned to not eat sugar again after surgery. Not an excuse, but I was hungry from missing my shakes due to working also. I wasn’t thinking right at all and regretted it immediately. It definitely opened my eyes to how my brain tries to justify eating something like that. I know I should not look at it as a loss of the foods I used to enjoy. Thank you again for sharing such wise and thoughtful insights. ❤️

    Help, pre-op mistake :(

Thank you so much for letting me know about your experience. I feel a lot better knowing I can still get my surgery with one slip up. I’m definitely sticking with it so I do not sabotage my chance at a better life. ❤️ thank you for giving me hope.

    Pre-op diet & period

Same here! I had gotten a light period during my preop diet. I have PCOS and hardly ever get one.

I Finally Got My Sleeve Date!!

Aww thank you for the encouragement!! I wish you all the best in July! 😊😊😊
  21. I’m sorry you’re having some issues with the egg salad :( do you think you now have aversion to eggs?
  22. Congratulations!!! I’m so happy you’re doing well and hope you continue to make the best choices for you! Keep it up!
  23. I finally got my date and will be sleeved on June 5!!! I’m so excited and happy to have my date. I feel like finally I’ll be healthy one day. I’m on the pre-op diet plan of protein shakes and a bar. It’s pretty rough because I feel tempted to eat normal food but I’m keeping my eye on the prize! Is anyone else preparing now?
  24. I am literally a previous band patient and going to be sleeved soon! I’ll let you know. I’m curious if anyone else here is further along.
  25. Has anyone done a low calorie diet and not lost weight, but had success losing all the weight with VSG? I’m curious how it works if eating low calorie didn’t work out. Even though I’m getting VSG, I’m scared it won’t work since I have not lost weight with the low calorie diet.
