  1. To me, it always sounds like your feet are off the ground! You are quite the busy one! Have a fantastic vacation!!
  2. It's been crazy hot here too! I hate having to go outside. Don't you have a "walking pad?" I think you were the one who talked about it, and that made me get one. I've been walking on mine every other day or so since my knee is feeling better. I can only do 20 minutes, but that's better than nothing! It sounds like a few of us are stalling scale-wise. I've been moving down slowly and will take that! But hearing about you all, I'm expecting a stall too. On the positive side, I've been slowly going through my closet, and it's been fun! I have "new old clothes" that I didn't even realize were in there. Today I said to my husband, "Like my new pants?" He said, "Oh where did you get those" Me, "in the closet and I don't know how long I've had them or where they came from, but they fit, and I like them!" lol
  3. How did the prep for a colonoscopy go? I will have one in about 6 months and am super nervous about the prep. I've had many colonoscopies, so I'm not worried about that—just the prep with the new stomach! I've heard that our final weight can't really be determined until we are about 18 months out from surgery. I've been hearing people on social media say they have hit stalls that last as long as 3-4 months. It will be interesting what they say at your 6 month appointment. I wouldn't worry about anything at this point. I'm sure it's frustrating! I'm addicted to seeing that scale move... even though I don't want to be!
  4. Ok so I made a Discord group for us. Here's the invite... https://discord.gg/DGbkr4cM Consider whether you want to invite others who aren't from this forum. I'm open to whatever you guys want to do! We can talk about it there
  5. We sure have gotten quiet. Busy summer I'm guessing. Hope you are all doing well! I was wondering if any of you would like to keep in touch, as a group or individually, via Discord or WhatsApp? I'm better at seeing and replying on those vs forums.
  6. Are you all still tracking all that you eat? I keep thinking maybe I can stop, but then I feel like I need to be accountable and I like to know how much protein and how many calories I'm getting. Also, has anyone made cottage cheese flatbread? I saw a recipe for it on TikTok. It's super easy, and they said it was good. I'm going to try it tonight. It's just cottage cheese, egg, and seasoning! I think I'm going to make it and wrap up a vegan hot dog for dinner.
  7. That's all understandable! At least your eyes are open, and you are frustrated. Hopefully, that will get you back on track. I'm so afraid of getting to where I can eat more. It seems that I'm able to eat just a bit more each week. I remember when I could only eat half a bag of Quest chips. Now, I can easily polish off the bag. As much as I dislike being nauseous, it does keep me from eating much. However, even when I think I've eaten a lot I'm still under 1,000 calories. It's funny what now feels like a lot! You've got this! I would get the junk out of the house and get things for the kids that they enjoy but aren't tempting to you. Keep some cut-up fruit and veggies in the fridge for easy grabbing when you need/want something.
  8. Thank you. It was horrible; I've never experienced anything like it and would prefer never to again! I pretty much had to do the sleeve because I have Ulcerative Colitis and have to take medication for it... it's an antiflamatory. I never had acid reflux so was hoping it wouldn't be an issue... surprise!
  9. @BlueParis i’m so happy to hear that you’re in a good place! That picture looks adorable and looks like a really fun time. I know you’ve had your struggles and to be in a peaceful place has got to feel absolutely wonderful! I’ve been doing pretty good here up until the past two days. I’ve been nauseous again. Then last night at 3 AM. I was woken up by acid reflux that was the worst I have ever experienced in my life. It honestly scared me and I’m still not feeling very comfortable about it. It came up into my mouth and apparently I inhaled as I was waking up so it got into my lungs. It was the most horrible burning feeling and it lasted a good 20 minutes. I got up and went into the bathroom and just paced in pain not knowing what to do. It burned my esophagus, and I was coughing and wheezing and the taste was horrible! I believe it was acid mixed with all my nighttime pills!! Beyond gross. When I finally got back in bed, I propped my pillow up because I was continuing to cough. I was afraid to fall back asleep, but I finally did for a couple hours and then I woke up and I was still coughing this morning. Does seem to be doing better now, but I’m seriously afraid to go back to sleep. Has anybody ever had it this bad? I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their summer
  10. Hey there! I'm glad you did see some benefits from the stall. My dietician told me that would happen. The scale will stall, but our bodies will still lose inches. I'm doing well here. Nothing much new, really. It's so freaking hot out, and while I can handle it a bit better than I did with 50+ more pounds on me, it's still miserable. Especially the horrible humidity we get here. My birthday was last week, and my hubby and I ordered me an Electric Bike! It won't be here for a while, but I won't really ride it until it cools off outside anyway. We are building a new home and will be moving in about a year and a half, and that's when I really want it. We will live where it's more conducive to riding. We live on a mountain right now, and I'm not sure I'll be able to ride it down the hill. I'll try! Hope everyone else is doing well!!
  11. @BlueParis, you look amazing. I wish you didn't have so much societal pressure to be crazy thin. Being a healthy weight should matter most, then feeling good. I grew up in southern California and always felt pressured to be thinner than I was. Even when I was 116 pounds, I was told, "You're getting there." Looking back, I looked sickly thin for my frame. My scars are pretty dark, too, especially the largest one. The others are quite small and not that noticeable. I saw my primary doctor today and she wasn't at all worried about my A1C being at 6.1. She said we'll take another look at it in 6 months. She was very happy with all my numbers and thrilled about my weight loss. She said I was "boring and making her job so easy." That was a first!
  12. I hope you have a wonderful vacation!! My 4 months is tomorrow. I see the dietician and surgeon's office next week which I'm excited about. I weighed in this morning and I'm down 50 pounds. I'm very happy about that in 4 months! Speaking of packing protein things, have you tried the Quest chips? I love the BBQ!!
  13. Wishing you all the best. Sounds exciting!!!
  14. How is everyone? I'm doing well here. My knee feels a lot better, although I'm not sure it's completely healed. I've finished my steroids. I'm praying it won't flare up again! Today was my weigh day and I was down 3 1/2 pounds this week. That's with no exercise and minimal movement, so happy about that. I hope you all are doing well!!!
  15. Wow it sounds like you are doing great! How exciting about the jeans. I love this!
  16. I just got my blood work back online and am kind of upset about one number. Everything looks fine except for my A1C, which is 6.1. That falls in the pre-diabetes range of 5.7 - 6.4. Mine had mostly been between 5.6 and 6.1 before surgery, and nothing we were overly concerned about because of my weight. I'm quite discouraged to see it still up there after losing weight. I don't see the doctor until next week, so I will have to deal with it for now, but I wanted to put it out here and see if any of you have had this issue, too. My glucose is 75, but not sure how much that matters. Thanks!
  17. Thank you so much for mentioning this podcast. I had to go to town to have blood drawn this morning, and I started listening to them. I started with the finale, and oh my gosh, they made me cry. When one talks about the best part of the journey so far and describes the thoughts she had as an obese person. I just lost it. I'll be 69 years old next week, and when I think about the hours of my life lost in "obese thoughts," it really hurts. Things like "Am I the largest woman in the room?" "What will the poor person next to me on the airplane think?" "Will I be able to sit at all comfortably in that chair?" "Will I break that plastic chair?" "Do I have to find sturdier beach chairs?" "What are they thinking of me?" etc... the thoughts have been never-ending and all-consuming at times. I'm going to go back and listen to more of their podcasts. Thanks again! @NickelChip Yay on the weight coming off again! So exciting, I'm really happy for you. I can understand the not being interested in food. There are times I even dread it. I try to shop for things that I like and they sound good in the store, but when it comes time to eat, I'm usually apathetic about it. Good luck with your vacation. I found some protein bars I like, but they will melt sadly. In case you haven't tried them, they are https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C4V2ML1C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  18. Sounds good! I'm glad you aren't having the issues some of us are. It's really nice to hear that! Good luck on reaching that number!!! You can do it!
  19. How are you doing @Alix2050? You have been quiet.
  20. Oh cool... I never noticed that! thank you!
  21. Thank you so much!
  22. Does anyone use the Baritastic app to track food? I'm wondering if there's a way to copy one day's stuff to the next. I often eat the same thing and putting it all in again is frustrating, but I've not found a way to copy it over.
  23. I'm sorry about the stalls. No matter how much we know they will happen, it doesn't make it any easier. I know in the past, the closer I got to my goal weight, the slower it would come off. @BlueParis this could be the case with you? How are things feeling... your body? Your clothes? My dietician told me that these things will continue to change even during stalls.
  24. Thank you! And whoa... that sounds horrible with the poison ivy! I hope the steroids knock it out quickly, you poor thing!
  25. Thank you, and oh my gosh, that sounds like torture! I'm glad it cleared up for you!!!
