I agree, if you are losing slowly, but still losing be happy!!! I had my first fill May 6, 1.8 in a 4 cc. band. Have never been able to tolerate solids and haven't been able to eat more than ice chips and one slim-fast shake a day for the last three days. This means no bites at bbq's, no dates for dinner, nothing!! Everything I take in comes right back up. Don't worry, I'm getting some fill taken out next Tuesday but will drive eight hours each way for a "local" fill doctor. :clap2: I've been losing five to seven lbs. a week. I am really starting to feel the effects, exhausted!! Can't wait until I can have a bite of fish or an egg or a spoonful of yogurt!!! :hungry: :hungry: :hungry: :hungry: :hungry: I love my band, this is not a complaint by any means. I should have made arrangements to have the fill loosened sooner, but I waited for my period to start, then for it to end, then for finals to be over, then for an appointment, blah, blah, blah.:faint: Long story short, I think it's would be much better to be slightly underfilled than take any risk of being overfilled.

:update: :update: I was banded March 27th. I had my first fill May 6th. They put in 1.8 cc's. I'm pretty restricted. I can eat a little late in the evening but stick to one to two, small well chewed bites throughout the day. I have lost thirty pounds so far, ten lost in the last ten days since my fill. I've met my first goal!!:clap2: :focus: My best advice after the fill is to be really careful, bites cannot be small enough or chewed enough. It will save you a lot of hassle when it comes to the dreadful pb's. Where can I find a ticker?

Have lost 21 lbs in three weeks. Not too shabby!! I had that stabbing pain in my left side for two days and was seriously scared I had ripped my port from my abdominal wall. Turned out it was my impending monthly cycle. I guess it will take a little time for all the organs to rearrange themselves in my shrinking stomach. I go for a fill May 5. I have almost reached my mini goal. I'd pat myself on the back but I might strain my shoulder.....

I went to Mexico because I am not covered by insurance for weight loss surgery and couldn't afford to be charged indiscriminately for every little thing. In Mexico you are given a set price, which includes lab fees, a consult with a nutritionist, surgery, anesthesia, pre-op medication, post-op pain medication, one night in the hospital and two nights in a fine hotel, transportation to and from the airport/hotel for one simple fee. :ban: In addition, your fill appointments are only $100.00.:wow2: I don't doubt it would have cost me more than triple if I had gone through an American hospital. Dr. Ortiz is also a leader in this field and teaches the doctors in America, as well as other countries, how to perform this procedure. He's also dreamy...

I went by myself and felt absolutely comfortable. I went to Calle Revolucion the day after my surgery and had no qualms whatsoever. I looked at it like a challenge and I didn't feel guilty about resting when needed. My mom and my daughter will be returning with me when I have my fill. I recommend you bargain heavily at Calle Revolucion and wait to be invited into the back rooms, that's where the good stuff is. (I typically paid 25-40 percent of the first price mentioned. Don't be afraid to say no).

I have told more people than I feel I should have. I even planned a pool party in August to Celebrate my weight loss. I probably should have kept my mouth shut and let them wonder, eventually, what I was doing to lose the weight. I'm hoping if I stop talking about it others will let it rest. Either that or treadmill seven times a day.

Banded March 27th, home on the 29th. Was having a heck of a time with liquids, especially since my daughter is out of state at her "father's." I miss her. To add insult to injury I broke up with my boyfriend the day before I left for surgery after dating almost two years. I'm guessing it's mostly the emotional tie I have with food that's making it so difficult. I did find that hummus is a godsend. I know I'm not supposed to be on mushies yet but I had to do it. I am starting to get the hang of this, five days out. I'm not hungry, per se, but I find myself constantly checking for signs of hunger then trying to convince myself I have to be hungry because a few bites of this or that cannot be enough compared to the three plus squares I used to eat. They say you have to do something at least twenty-one times before it becomes a habit, I'll catch on sooner or later. Today's menu: 1/2 cup Protein drink in the a.m. (150 calories) 1/2 cup of super mushy oatmeal (130 calories) 1/2 cup of hummus (200-300 calories) 1 egg scrambled for dinner (how many calories in an egg?) 1/2+ cup Jello before bed to stave off the mental munchies (100 calories) Water, water, water, water I can't wait for a chicken breast!!! I dont' care if it's even cooked or defeathered or nothing. -

Long time browser, first time poster. I was officially banded Monday by Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana. I'm still a little sore but that didn't stop me from shopping like crazy on Tuesday, traveling home for most of the day Wednesday and going to costco for liquid Vitamins and a scale today. I'm a little hungry though. Certainly wish I could have had some of that wonderful smelling Mexican food. I'm reserving that privledge for my first fill appointment.
